This time, it's different.
There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.
But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.
Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

He doesn't appear to have anyone keeping an eye on him now, though. And, world's best detective or not, this isn't a great place for a boy to be running around alone. It's so hard to work up the energy to scold him about it when he's the first person she's seen who looks genuinely excited to see her, so she keeps on smiling.]
Well, well, Angus McDonald. Hello to you too.
[She looks down at the little stuffed animal she's holding. He's the first person who's seen her with it that has made the connection to Fisher. Always so astute. ]
Yes, I just found him--it--here on the ground, and I certainly wasn't expecting to see anything like--well...
[She doesn't know how to finish that thought, so she leaves it and works to stand up as gracefully as she can, dusting off her robes, and nods at the toy Angus has clutched in his own hand.]
I see you've found a...dog?
YEARS LATER, A TAG RETURNS FROM THE VOID
Just... maybe don't tell the others.
Angus holds the stuffed dog up to eye level and squints at it, as if he's about to interrogate the poor thing for crimes against its fellow beanie babies. ]
Yeah! I thought Magnus might like it, but he... hasn't shown up yet.
[ It's looking increasingly likely that he won't show up at all... at least, not this month. Just then, something occurs to Angus, and he blinks up at the Director with wide, alert eyes. ]
... Oh! Are you okay, Ma'am? You're not hurt, are you? Usually this place comes up with much worse things than stuffed toys!

[Angus is not the only one who is definitely, 100% fine right now. Yep. Nothing to see here. She only almost got crushed to death a couple times, so it could have been worse. No need for him to know about that, though. She doesn't want him to worry.]
So you came here looking for Magnus, then?
[It's just as hard to say his name out loud as it was to hear it from Angus' mouth. She'd only learned of his death a little while before arriving here, and, as expected, she has yet to encounter him in this world.]
Did you expect him to be here? Is he-- [alive here?] around?

[ There's a brief, hitching pause in the Director's voice that catches Angus off guard for a moment, and all of a sudden, he remembers the last time he saw Magnus, back home - barging in through the doors to the Director's office, alongside Carey, while the Hunger started to rain down outside. ]
... Um, Madame Director, if you don't mind me asking... speaking of temporal anomalies, what's the last thing you remember? What were you doing just before you arrived here? I may be further along in the timeline than you.
