This time, it's different.
There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.
But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.
Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Thank you.
[ He seems to have done it out of kindness rather than anything else, but it leaves her a little embarrassed all the same. ]
I - No. [ She deflates a bit, turning the dragon over in her hands. ] They provide us with... strange items with every influx of new captives. It has never been exactly this before [ to which she gestures at the mess of plushies around them ] but it has been similarly... purposeless.
[ Whether it's the Door or the gods, it's ridiculous. ]

Captives, huh. [ That's an interesting way of putting it, and interesting is a very nice word for what Noctis thinks about the entire thing; his knee-jerk dislike for the place shows. ] So, no way out until they feel like letting you go?

[ Some people come and go in a fortnight. Others are here for years. ]
If anyone has found a way to return of our own power, then they have yet to share it with the rest of us.

[ Noctis says thoughtfully, looking over at where he'd come from. ] Guess we'll have to figure a way home ourselves. Where's home for you, anyway?
no subject
Far from here. [ And then, because he'll surely ask for a name anyway, she decides on: ] Westeros.
[ It isn't true, though, and it makes her think again of Braavos, of the house with the red door... and of the ship sailing across the Narrow Sea where her dragons and her allies wait for her. ]
And you?

Lucis. On Eos. [ He clarifies. Lucis his kingdom, even if it's now fallen, its people scattered and much of its territories swallowed by Nifleheim. Insomnia his home, burning in his absence. He rubs at his face, sobering up. ] Kinda hoping I can get back to it again real quick.
[ He pauses. ] Westeros sounds like a nice name.

[ Strange to her, anyway. ]
I think that we all feel the same. There is some crucial mission that we must all return to. [ Like recovering her rightful throne, for example. ]
Does it? [ That surprises her and coaxes out a laugh. ] I have never been there, but I have heard stories about the Seven Kingdoms since I was young.

[ Oh, she's pretty when she laughs -- she looks younger, too; like she's not much older than him despite the severity of her expression, and he can't help but be charmed. But something doesn't quite add up right to him, and he pauses, scratching his head briefly, awkwardly. ]
You came from Westeros but you've never been there? That's part of the Seven Kingdoms?
[ Sorry, Dany, he's not privy to the lore of her world. ]
no subject
[ Okay, so Jaime Lannister is only a tiny piece of the problem, but this stranger doesn't have to hear the whole story. ]
My brother and I were taken to another land so that we would be safe.
no subject
[ Her father the king, betrayed and most likely killed -- as are wont to happen to most kings, and she's taken another land for safety. Here's another one that grew up without parents, and Noctis is sympathetic. It must be terrible, to be taken away from your home and in another land, without your parents, or your kingdom. ]
Sorry to hear that. So you're on a crucial mission, huh.
no subject
[ She has to return to her mission. To her allies, to her dragons. ]
I seem to have no control over the situation, but I am not content to sit idly by as time passes. I will find a way to return us all to our homes.
[ It may not be possible, but the conviction with which she speaks it makes it seem so. ]
