Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[ Richie likes picking things up from the arrivals, even if that means scavenging through new people and weird monsters. He's timed it perfectly this time, this window between no-good-things-left and creepy-monsters-still-there is the golden hour.

He's got a laser blaster at his side and a large stick that looks completely out of place in a desert, and definitely also an armful of various beanie babies. He looks up, notices someone, and--wait, what? ]

It's a jellyfish, why're you so sad?

[Lucretia looks up and finds a...well, a kid. A kid who, based on the fact that he is carrying two weapons and an armful of loot, is either doing something very wrong, or something very right. Which it is does not immediately occur to her.]

I'm--it's not. Nothing's wrong, um...that is, it has nothing to do with the fact that this is a jellyfish.

[She looks back down at it. It super does have something to do with this being a jellyfish, but only because of a million other--admittedly silly and sentimental--things she is not going to explain to a heavily-armed child.]

I just got here. I'm a little...disoriented, is all. [She eyes his stash of stuffed animals.] That looks like quite the haul.

[ Richie tries not to laugh--yeah, right, disoriented--and he stifles it so he just makes a strange noise in the back of his throat, lips thinned and trying not to grin. Suuuure, lady. ]

I'm gonna shove them into my friends bed so when he tries to go to sleep it's just going to be a full on animal assault.

[ And, after a beat: ] Why the jelly fish? Wanna trade?

[She sees that look and knows when she’s being laughed at. She considers getting up, standing at full height over him, and giving him the business, but when he asks if she wants to trade, wants to give him Fisher, her eyes get very wide and she forgets for a moment that she’s the adult in this situation.

That seems to be happening a lot today if she’s perfectly honest.]

No! I mean... no I- I’m not up for trading if it’s all the same to you. [Oh my god. Christ, Luce, get it together, huh?] He just looks a bit like a friend from back home so. Yeah. Gonna just...go ahead and keep him I think.

You're really weird.

[ She's flip-flopping more than Ben whenever Beverly smiles at him, and Richie, perfectly calm, attempts to push up his glasses with his shoulder since his hands are full. That probably came off as rude, didn't it? Yeah, probably.

Richie sniffs. ]

That's fine. You'll fit right in, if we're not weird, we're losers. What's your name?

[Despite being embarrassed at her own inability to speak normally to this kid, she laughs a little at that. It's likely not the first time she's been called weird, but she can't recall for sure. Suffice it to say, no one has talked to Lucretia this way in a very long time.

It's kinda nice. He reminds her a little of Lup: super blunt, no fucks given. She can work with that.]

Lucretia.

[She finally decides this is getting ridiculous and stands. She's holding her hand out before she can decide if this is how people greet kids, or if this particular one will use this as further proof of her 'weirdness'.]
