Intro Log: Rock This City

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[Kyna scoops up another beanie baby from the ground—a bear with little angel wings—and whips it at his head. She knows he's going to dodge. She's resigned to this.]

[In a surprise twist, Tucker doesn't dodge. He catches it instead. Thanks for the ammo, K! Because it's definitely coming right back at her.

Hope you wanted to start a beanie baby fight in the middle of the coliseum, friend.]

[Yep, that hits her square in the chest.]

I can't believe you just caught that.

[Okay, yes she can. She's trying very hard not to smile and failing.]

What the fuck?

[He puts his hands up in the universal "what the fuck" gesture". But he's also having trouble not laughing, so.]

You're the one who started it.

[evocation]

What? You threw one at me first. I'm totally firing you.

[Kyna, you can't do that.]

[nowherewolf]

You can't fire me, you quit.

[So there!!!]

[evocation]

What does that even mean?

[nowherewolf]

What do you think it means? When did you last quit, you might not even be employed right now.

[evocation]

Maybe if you took that fucking statue thing off of my desk, I wouldn't have to quit.

[nowherewolf]

Hey, you leave Tucker the Third out of this. He's doing his job. Also, he's not on your desk anymore.

[If they ever get out of here (again), she'll have the privilege of finding him somewhere else this time.]

[evocation]

[Kyna looks utterly betrayed for a moment, and opens her mouth to respond, but she's cut off when something massive and fluffy knocks into her from behind, making her stagger forward. She twists around immediately.]

Lando? What the fuck.

[Lando looks very pleased to see both of them.]

[nowherewolf]

Holy shit.

[Tucker is torn between shock and delight. On the one hand: how. On the other hand: dog. He squats down to hold his hand out for Lando to come get pets.]

Isn't this your brother's dog?

[evocation]

Yeah.

[Which is... weird. Kyna reaches out to pet Lando automatically, but Lando's making a beeline for Tucker's hand, shoving his head into it. Maybe he smells more interesting.]

I was watching him for Nico before I got here. Maybe it grabbed us both?

[nowherewolf]

Shit, maybe.

[Tucker scratches around Lando's ears.]

Glad I wasn't around my cats, I guess. Hate to get them stuck here, too.

[And now he is just exclusively addressing the dog.]

Don't worry though, buddy. We'll keep an eye out for you. No monsters or robots are gonna eat you, no.

[evocation]

[Kyna snorts, but Lando is eating it up, wagging his tail so hard his butt wags along with it.]

Is that baby talk?

[Or the closest Tucker will ever get.]

[nowherewolf]

Shut up, no it's not.

[It totally is.]

[evocation]

Oh my God, in two seconds you're going to start talking about what a good boy he is and making up words.

[Lando, meanwhile, shoves his head into Tucker's hand again.]

[nowherewolf]

I am not, god.

[He pets Lando in silence for a few seconds.]

You are a good boy, though. Don't listen to her she doesn't understand.

[evocation]

[Kyna bursts out laughing.]

He likes it if you scratch his chest better than his ears.

[nowherewolf]

[Tucker very pointedly switches tactics to scratching Lando's chest instead.]

Don't make fun of me and then give me tips, god.

[evocation]

[She's guessing the shops aren't overflowing with dog food anyway.]

Do you think he can eat some of the monsters?

I mean I guess? It's meat, so. I ate some before we left, it was fine.

[His system is close enough to a dog's, right???]
