Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[The Empress pays attention whenever she's followed, whether it be by strangers or by her husband. She can feel him there when he shows up but stays quiet, going through the items of the store. He's different to her. More... withdrawn.

She wants back the nights where they sat in his office. Where they spent time together. Where the animosity no longer existed. Somehow she knows that she's not liable to get that back.]

Did you need something, Aric?

[Even as she asks she doesn't turn towards him, not yet.]

[ What's more difficult with seeing her now is that he's even different from the Death that had taunted her mind. He'd spent time in another place, made friends a family and had fallen in love with someone that at least sort of returned it and Kavinsky had never betrayed him either.

There's no immediate need to gain revenge on her and he's more troubled, though the anger and past hurts are there too. Having been separated from Kavinsky there's an immense sense of loneliness and loss and he's drawn to her inexplicably.

Is he now the one that's the betrayer? Whether to his wife or to his love, it's hard to know. ]

No.

[ Although, he's hardly certain that's true. ]

[He fingers brush over a few items in front of her, a pack over her shoulder. She'd needed to make up the bag and she planned to make sure that she had what she needed. What she didn't have she'd find seeds for and grow.]

Yet, you followed me in here. Why?

[Especially when she knows that he sees her as the betrayer that the Empress used to be. She wasn't that Empress.]

I do not need to tell you anything, Empress.

[ Aric answers, though something in him, something that had changed in him in Eudio gives him the urge to be less hostile.

He doesn't listen yet. ]

You're right, Aric, you don't have to tell me anything.

[She watches him for a moment before turning back to the task at hand. Finding what she'd need to put in the bugout bag. If it's foolish of her to turn her back on him, then so be it. She trusts him. Even if he didn't trust her. Something that she'd have to get used to all over again.]

But you did follow me in here for a reason.

[ His arms cross over his chest as he keeps watching her. He's always been drawn to her and now is no different. ]

It is best to watch one's enemies.

[She stops where she is and frowns slightly before shaking her head. Evie should keep him in her line of sight but she knows he won't kill her. Or, at least, hopes he won't.]

We haven't been enemies for a while. In fact, you were helping me try and stop the Game. No matter how foolish a notion that is, especially when no one is meant to die for it.

That doesn't sound like something I would do.

[ Aric says simply. There's no way to stop the Game after all and allying himself with the Empress has never gone well and he has meant not to do it again. What kind of trickery had she played or was she currently playing? ]

[She watches him before shaking her head]

You agreed to it, Aric. You've even shown me your favorite books.

[Evie's been in his room. There's that last bit... though she's not sure she wants to tell him. Not when he's acting as if she's still the enemy.]

How am I supposed to believe that this is not merely another of your tricks?

Believe what you wish, Aric. This is no trick. I have nothing to hide from you.
