This time, it's different.
There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.
But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.
Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

You should enjoy it. There's no telling where we'll end up if Fear needs to move us again.
[Which is a high probability, considering their situation. She doubts that this is the last they've seen of the Null.
[All the more reason to appreciate what they have left.]

[She just looks... so happy about the whole idea.]
I always wanted to be an explorer. Like, a brave hero, you know?

[Rey had always wanted to know what things were like outside of that damned cave. This isn't exactly what she had in mind.]
no subject
[She swings her feet a bit more, still smiling.]
For, uhm, for now though, I'm just glad to get to spend time with you.

[It's that last part that catches her off guard, though. She feels a grim melancholy grip her chest as her expression fades into a frown -- though by no fault of Alphys.]
Mm. Guess I haven't been very available as of late. Sorry about that.
[She had her reasons, but she can't pretend that her actions didn't affect others as well.]
no subject
No, it's okay, I... I should have c-come to see you. I, uh... heard you weren't doing well.
[But she got too nervous. Too scared she would only make it worse.]
I don't blame you.
no subject
[Even though a lot of people seemed to believe otherwise.]
Actually... wanted to ask you something. [She pauses. Time to change the subject, sort of.] You've got a pretty big computer at your lab, don't you?
no subject
Uhm... y-yeah, we do. It got a little beat up during the Null attack, but they never got into the lab, so it's fine. Why?
no subject
Would you mind... if I hooked up to it sometime? Don't think Nick's terminal has the hardware capable of handling my data.
[She doesn't often talk about the fact that her entire "self" can be summed up in ones and zeroes, but there it is.]
no subject
[Right. Rey is synthetic. She forgets this pretty often, especially when she looks so, so human.]
Oh yeah, uh, sure! Are you, like, taking a backup...?
no subject
Not really. [That much she decides to be frank about.] Just want to run a maintenance on some things.
[Close enough.]

[All robots need a software checkup every once in a while, right? Mettaton did, even with the SOUL in him. Everything does. If she can help, it all checks out.]
Do you need, uhm, any specific hookups or anything...? I mean, it's your pretty standard computer, but uhm, I'm sure we can w-work with the connection ports.
no subject
[A little gift of inspiration that came from the ghost of her brilliant mother's brief visit.]
no subject
[She's so unassuming. Oh lord.]
Yeah, just let me know then. I'll make sure the memory's all c-clear, and stuff.
