This time, it's different.
There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.
Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.
But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.
Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Whoa— ( She manages to catch herself and silence herself when her eyes drop on the face of the person pulling her out of line of sight.
Okay. Weird, but... so's everything. So Serah nods, silent, and peeks back over the wall briefly. )
What are they?
( Her voice is a quiet hiss, hoping not to attract attention. They don't look like anything she's encountered at home, but maybe this man knows. )
no subject
He shifts to look over the wall carefully, eyes travelling over the field of battle and evaluating what his next move could be.]
I've never seen their like. [Nil is not one for false bravado, or lying. He won't pretend that this is going to be easy.] Not men, nor animals, nor machines.
[A small frown alights on his face for a moment as he slides back down into cover.] Can you fight?
no subject
...Y-yeah. ( She's gotten a lot better at it, but some uncertainty still lingers in her voice. But he isn't unarmed and she's figured out some spells that may make this easier. If they work. ) I think I have an idea. Will you help me?
( She takes one last glance at the golems ambling about, hand curling into a fist. It'll be easier in a team. )
no subject
The idea, first.
[If he doesn't like it, he's out.]
no subject
I have a spell that might be able to make them weaker. ( She just doesn't know if it'll work. ) If it works, we'll be able to attack them together.
no subject
A spell. [Is she speaking of magic? The Nora and other more primitive tribes hold such beliefs, he knows, but the Carja have mostly left such things behind.] I don't hold to superstition, and I have no intentions of putting my life in the hands of supposed magic.
no subject
So what should we do? ( She's still a little bewildered by the concept, and more than aware that not using her magic would leave her without any way to help them out of this sticky situation. )
no subject
Going out like that would just be embarrassing.]
If we can cause a distraction, we can get around it.
no subject
But regardless. Serah glances around, eyes catching debris from the wreckage that is this broken Colosseum, and flicks her gaze back to Nil. )
If we throw some rubble, then maybe...
( They'll get distracted by the noise? )
no subject
Perhaps.
[He isn't certain they are the types of creatures to be distracted by a bit of rubble, but it works on the machines. Maybe it will work on these things, too. Nil finds a piece of stone easily enough, weighting it lightly in his hand.]
Run when I tell you.
no subject
Right.
( Running she can do, if this works. )
no subject
If he had the capacity, he might feel a little bad for her.
Nil waits for an opportunity, then nods sharply--] Now. [--and darts out of cover.]
no subject
Darting out, unfortunately, manages to attract the attention of one of the golems, slowly making its way towards them. The lumbering noise of footsteps and the grinding of stone enough to startle Serah, who just about bites her tongue on a noise of surprise and instead gathers her magic, jumping back as a small blizzard surrounds the massive thing.
What was that about chanting, again? )
no subject
Nil turns, steps back, and stares. Not one for oaths, he finds the phrase 'what in the Sun's name' is very apt at this point.]
You could have mentioned that.
no subject
I tried to tell you.
( #srynotsry. But more to the point- )
We should keep moving.
no subject
Very well. [He covers his surprise smoothly after the first few moments. When the situation is less immediately dangerous, he'll ask his questions.]
There will be a way out, it's a matter of finding it.
no subject
-There. ( She gestures to an arch right of where they are. ) Do you think...?
( It looks too large and deliberate to not be a possibility, right? )
