Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

There were. Apparently they were the bad guys, I suppose? Inasmuch as anything real could be considered in such ridiculous terms.

["Bad guys." Haha.

Suddenly though, Ryou's staring at that disk in rapt fascination. Because uh, what kind of creature just has a disk attached to their back?]

Pardon me for being impolite but...is there some kind of importance to that disk?

Bad guy robots, huh? [As strange and alarming as that should sound, Asriel doesn’t seem too frightened or confused.] I only know one robot, but he’s not a bad guy.

[His attention shifts back to the disk, and he holds it up for Ryou to see - maybe a bad idea since he doesn’t know much about him yet.]

Uh-huh! It’s uh, well... me. It has all my thoughts, memories, everything about me on it. And it doubles as a weapon too.

That's...definitely something.

[Weird, honestly. But then, it's pretty weird that the kid's acting as if bad robots aren't the worst thing he's heard of.]

I don't know how safe it is to be using something that's your very life to fight with...but hopefully, you won't be reduced to such here.

[Wishful thinking...]

[Asriel grins sheepishly.]

It's kind of a long story about how I got it...

[He's not too sure how much Ryou knows about space planets and getting dumped inside a computer program world, and then having your entire self downloaded into a weapon.]

It's really strong though! The person who taught me how to use it, he's practically the best at fighting, and he uses a disk just like this!

... Is there a lot of fighting here?

There's definitely a decent share of weirdness here, but...I'm pretty new myself. I can't say as to how combative things get yet.

[Ryou's long begun to believe that this situation isn't a good one though...]

Anyway...if your disk is powerful enough to withstand blows, then I'll trust you on the matter. Still, there's no point looking for trouble and no shame in running. Speaking of which...if you'd like a place to rest, you're um. Welcome to my home for a while.

[I-is that something he should be offering? He doesn't want to leave the small monster out in an unfamiliar place though, it seems unkind. What if he's hungry?]

[That sounds about right. He'd ask Ryou if he knew what planet this was, but if Ryou was new... maybe he wouldn't know.]

...You'd really be okay with me staying over?

[It's a nice offer, for sure. But Ryou doesn't know anything about him? It's not like Asriel has any idea where to go right now though.]

I mean, we just met and...

["I'm a monster." Is what he almost says, but that didn't really seem to bother Frisk too much.]

That's really nice of you.

Well I mean, you don't have to. I just thought...maybe if you were hungry? You don't have to stay or anything, that's up to you.

[Ryou's not exactly backpedaling, but he certainly sounds as if he's afraid that he's offended the little guy.

He. Is afraid that he offended a monster boy.

Without really expressing fear or any inkling that he finds this too weird...]

Well... I didn't say I wasn't hungry. And um... I don't really have anywhere to go, since I don't even know where I am.

[Should he be imposing on Ryou like this? But he's offering, and any friendly face is welcoming right now.]

...Maybe we can talk about it more at length in a safe place.

[Despite himself, Ryou can't help a small sigh. He's not frustrated or anything, just...a bit exasperated at himself. He's being strange, isn't he? But, well, it's hard to trust people and fully commit to a new friendship when you aren't very trustworthy, nor are you sure the other person is either.

Of course, he's overthinking it. He knows that. So he pushes any of those thoughts away, and addresses Asriel again.]

Um. You told me your name, but I don't believe I actually told you mine, did I? It's Ryou. Ryou Bakura. And if you don't mind following me...

[He starts to walk tentatively, though he does look to see if Asriel's following him. Maybe, just maybe, if he answers some questions, he can ask some of his own.]

[Asriel nods, eager to find someplace a little safer. Maybe he should be a little more cautious in this case, but where was he gonna go?]

Thank you, Ryou. For um, letting me use your place.

[He starts to follow behind Ryou.]

Haha, this place... it seems pretty rundown, huh?

[Haha, well at least it's relieving not to be questioned on his motives. He wasn't being offputting, right...?

It is pretty shoddy, huh? Apparently there's some things going on with the "gods" of this place. I hear that they provide for certain parts of this place, including lodging and food, but...it's been pretty awful.

At the very least, there appears to be a sense of community around here, inasmuch as you could have one with so many different people. It's...nice.

[He still misses his friends though. Even if Atem's here...there are still empty places that the pharaoh couldn't fill...]

[Asriel starts to relax a little too, as much as he can in a totally new place anyway.]

Gods, huh...? I’ve been on some pretty weird planets before, but not ones where there’s Gods.

I’m glad to here people around here sound nice though.

[Not that he really trusts that, but hey, no reason to dump his paranoia on this kid.]

So does that mean you're some form of alien, if you've traveled about so much?

[Ryou doesn't mean to be rude, but...a kid who obviously isn't human, talking about "weird planets"? Really though.]

Aha, well... sort of? I'm actually a monster, not an alien. I actually lived under a mountain, if you can believe it. All of us monsters did.
