Intro Log: Rock This City

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

► This log covers January 10th-14th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

DIANA

[Continued from here!]

[Ravus listens intently, and volunteers, almost as a reluctant afterthought:]

...My mother was Queen Sylva, Oracle and ruler of Tenebrae.

[He speaks softly, not wishing to divulge too much information, but enough that would be polite from one member of royalty to another. Ravus is also curious as to what she means about the 'world of men', as if she counts herself separate from it, but perhaps that is something to ask about later.]

I've seen far too much war, more than I ever care to see again. [He shakes his head, expression bitter.] Make no mistake, I fought for my own reasons, not because I cared for a second about the empire.

[ Past tense about the Queen, and she wonders if Tenebrae is in any way connected to this empire. Perhaps so; princes do not often venture from their kingdoms to fight in another's wars, and this man doesn't seem particularly bloodthirsty, nor does he seem to like the empire very much.

All the same, he is polite the way royalty is -- a common thread in the upbringing, perhaps, but that he mentions an old, familiar name makes her brows raise in surprise. Different worlds they might be, but surely the meaning is the same. Oracle. ]

Your mother could commune with the gods? [ A curious, fascinating thing, and she nods nonetheless, sympathetic to the evident bitterness. ] I've learned not to make assumptions; we all fight for a reason.

[Ravus seems surprised, briefly, that she recognises the term, then nods.]

That's correct. She was the bridge between the Astrals and mankind, the healer of the sick, the defender of our star against its scourge. As was my sister after her.

[Despite his best efforts not to betray much by way of emotion, his voice softens at the mention of his sister. His mother's loss is something he's had time to accept; the wounds left by the latter are still raw. He keeps his eyes fixed on their surroundings as if keeping a lookout as they walk, but in reality, it's because he can't quite bring himself to look at his companion.]

The Oracle performs similar duties in your world, then?

Yes. But the line of the Oracle has been lost for millennia. [ Despite their ties to the divine, they remain, as ever, transient and susceptible to time and tide. She pauses, glancing over at him. His sister, addressed in the past tense. There is a melancholy to his story, couched in familial fondness -- Diana understands it instinctively. Loss. She doesn't know what's transpired, only that perhaps they are no longer, and she sympathizes. Diana will remember them, too; what he tells of them. ]

You must be incredibly proud of them. They are very noble.

[ She offers gently, looking ahead and making a turn towards what looks like the exit, gesturing him over. The bridge to greater understanding, choosing the way of peace over the carnage of war. ] What is your sister's name?

I am. Both have always been beloved by the people, and rightfully so.

[The line of the Oracle has been lost in his world, too; of that Ravus is under no illusion, despite whatever miracles a god such as Hope may have been able to work here. His time on Eos has come and gone, and he has little optimism he will be able to return. Was the part he played enough?

He's distracted, but not enough to miss her as she gestures, so he follows after Diana towards the exit.]

Her name is Lunafreya.

I will remember.

[ Sylva and Lunafreya, Oracles loved by their people, and by none more than their son and brother, respectively. His grief must have been a terrible, heavy thing, this prince of House Nox Fleuret, pain written clear as day in his eyes, a shadow that dogs his steps.

She pushes open the door, and holds it for him to pass through, looking out at the unfamiliar land before them. ]
I don't suppose this is a world familiar to you?
