Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Oh. Wow. ( the shelves aren't bare, but they aren't exactly full to bursting either, and now he understands why. the blond nods then, thoughtful, as he hefts the weight of the chick in his arms and leans back a little from the answering flutter of her wings. ) The guide I read about this place didn't mention how short supply was in general. Just assumed it was cleaned out temporarily, or something. This is the first shop I checked out, so I probably missed out that there isn't much left. Guess it was a good thing I asked, after all - thanks for tellin' me. S'there some kind of system for the other stuff you can't get for free, though?

From what I've heard, these shops have been here for a long time. The other arrivals pick them clean, should anything new appear.

[ Dany has never been lucky with the shops, but maybe his fortune will be better. ]

Not that I know of. You can offer your own abilities and services to others in exchange for food they have grown. [ She's had to do that one. ] That is the only way I-... [ Then, her eyes fall on the chick, and she hesitates, surprised. ] What is that?

( seems like someone up there — or a few someones — really wants to make them work for it, huh? fair enough. )

Right. On the network, is it? I saw somethin' about that when I got here — ( surprise directed at the bird shouldn't really be anything very new by this point, considering that even in wayward pines there were people asking what they were. balancing her against his chest in a one-handed grasp, prompto reaches around to lightly massage the crown of her head through tufts of feathers, with the bird shutting its eyes blissfully in response. ) — she's a baby chocobo! You've never seen one? Seems like a lot of folks haven't.

A baby "chocobo?" [ Dany repeats it, but it's not a familiar word. She shakes her head to show this. ] Not ever, not even in Hadriel. Do you -

[ "Eat it," she means to say, but then doesn't. The way he's interacted with the bird indicates clearly that it's more a pet than a meal. ]

... Are they very common, in your world?

( there's just something incredibly therapeutic about being able to talk about his favourite animals in the entire world. ) Not mega common like you could find 'em everywhere you look, but they're pretty popular as mascots. They live in the wild so you can't see them on the streets unless you head to the racetrack — sometimes they're in parades too? Outside the city you can ride on their backs to get around if you gotta deal with rough terrain that cars can't go on; it's a lot faster than going on foot.

Mascots? [ Oh, Prompto. You're too modern fantasy for her. ] They... race?

[ But... it's so small........ ]

So, they aren't wildly common, but they are found in the wild in your world. [ Apparently, too, they can be ridden. Not much of this makes sense. ] I've never seen one in Hadriel, so that may be the only one here of its kind.

Yeah, mascots — uh. Like a symbol? But cuter, usually. You'd see them on keychains and stickers and in commercials, stuff like that. They only race when they're bigger, though. When they're grown up, they're taller than me! She's just a baby, so she'll take a while to get there.

( the possibility that she's the only one of her kind here is a little pang in his chest; back in the town of wayward pines, there were at least two others, and prompto can't help but feel like things could get a little lonely, even if he were around. ) Oh... damn. Guess she'll have to make some new friends. Not that she'll have a problem doing that, I think — she's really cute.

[ Prompto, you're way too modern for her. Dany listens, but she's frowning slightly, trying to commit all these strange words to memory.

Ah, well. ]

She'll be taller than you? [ It's so small now... but, then, her dragons had been about that size when they were born. Dany laughs lightly, fondness growing in her expression at the thought of her 'children.' ]

Well, I hope that you both adjust well, here. It has its dangers, of course, but it doesn't lack in new experiences.
