Intro Log: Rock This City

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for January
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: January 10th-14th
Warnings: New folks, rockin' dudes made of rock, and collectible friends!

This time, it's different.

There's no cave, no stone walls looming up around you and overhead, no stifling air or artificial light- not that you'd appreciate it, seeing as to how you've probably never been here before. And still, when you land facefirst on the dirt ground of the colosseum, you may not quite appreciate all the improvements and steps we've had to take to get here- after all, you're still surrounded by strangers in a crumbling city on an alien planet in the middle of nowhere.

Oh, and you're being attacked by Earth Elementals. These creatures are tall, between seven to ten feet, and made of solid rock, capable of punching through all the squishy bits of you- and for whatever reason, they definitely want to start punching. They're incredibly strong and, seeing as to how they're enchanted alive and have no internal organs, they're very difficult to kill.

But don't let that scare you off. For all the collectors in you, you can also find a very special array of beanie babies all scattered at the ground at your feet. Do you know that some of these things will be worth a lot of money someday? Better find the rarest one and stockpile it while you can! You might run into the rainbow crab, the platypus, or the sought-after bald eagle, or many more! Be sure to never take the tag off and never ever let anyone play with them so they don't lose value.

Once you've got your kids' college fund squared away, it's time to start exploring! You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

Full magic, baby! I'm a wizard and also kind of a big deal.

[Laura laughs and Lup is quick to join her.] Yep! Two suns and a big ol' purple sky.

[she grins and raises an eyebrow] A wizard and a big deal? Tell me more.

A purple sky? Sounds wild. I bet it's pretty, though.

[Lup leans in, flirty as ever, and grins.] I mean, look at me, sis. What part of this hot bod doesn't look like a big deal?

Yeah, it def was. And I dunno, purple was all I knew growin' up. Never had a clue a blue sky was a thing that happened.

[well, she was trying to keep her eyes to herself, but now that she's been invited...she looks Lup up and down appreciatively I'd say that all of it looks like a pretty big deal.

Yeah? So, which do you like better?

[Laura flirting back at her just has the elf's mouth curling into a even sharper grin. Nothing better than a lady who knows how to have a little fun, right?]

What can I say? I'm pretty fond of the blue, but purple hits my nostalgia button hard. What about you? What do you like better? All the drunken humans in here or the one super hot elf?

[and Laura's grin goes from sweet to sultry. it's been a while since Nighttime Laura got to play, and she's hoping that this will be an opportunity for her.

she puts a finger on her lip as she considers] Let's see . . .drunken humans or one super super hot elf? I think I'm gonna go with the super, super hot elf.

[Lup leans in just enough to shoot the other woman a slow wink.]

Good choice, sis. [And then she's holding out a hand, grinning.] Wanna dance?

[she offers Lup a slow, wicked grin and takes her hand]

I would love to dance.

[Lup's hand curls around Laura's as she drags the other woman towards the dance floor, where she gives her a little spin before the elf starts swaying along with the music.]

[she laughs as she's spun. she wasn't expecting that and it was a fun surprise]

I've been worse places. Even though the sun is out 24/7. It makes it hard to really kick back and let go. How about you?

I've been here for half a year or somethin'. I don't think of it as home or anythin', but it's hard to not grow a little fond of this place. All of my family is here so there's no reason to want to leave.

I know what you mean. Helps that it brought me back to life. [she raises an eyebrow playfully] You must get along with your family real well.

Oh, we're all real close. [Laura probably would be surprised to hear just how close. Considering five of them are all cramped in a single house together. That has to prove just how strong their bond is.]

My brother's there. My hubby too. And y'know, all the rest. We all get along pretty well. [a beat while she slips a hand around Laura's middle to give her a proper twirl with her.] Mostly.

That must be nice. [Laura's always felt a distance from her family, like if she was ever her full self around her, they would reject her. it doesn't help that just before she died, she found out that her own father was the one possessed by BOB who had been raping her since she was twelve]

You have a husband? He's a lucky man. [she giggles when Lup twirls her. she loves dancing and Lup's a great partner] Mostly, huh?

Oh yeah, he's a real lucky guy. I'm pretty spectacular. Brains an' body an' brawn all wrapped into such a bomb package [And oh so humble, as Laura can probably tell.] But I'm pretty lucky too. He's a total hottie with a body.

[And her whole family is sure sick of hearing about it.]

You know how family gets. We're pretty chill, but we bicker an' shit. What about you? Any of your fam around?

[she laughs] I'm not gonna argue any of that. [to be honest, Laura prefers it this way. false modesty is for suckers] And what's this hottie's name?

[they're just jealous]

Nnnnnope. It's just me. Not that I wouldn't love for Donna to show up outta nowhere, but something tells me that's not happening.

Barry. Do y'know him? Total nerd. Always in denim. Amazing butt. [Lup's happy to show the man off. Fifty plus years together, but the heat between them hasn't died down in the slightest.]

Hey, you never know! Started with just my bro and I, kinda exploded into a ton of our friends an' fam. Just took a few months. Don't give up on them all completely.

[Laura smiles in recognition] Yeah, I do know him. Ran into 'im when he first showed up. He's nice. Lucky. [said with a teasing lilt]

I'll try not to. Donna's the person I want here the most. She's been my best friend since we were toddlers. Honestly? She's the only one from home I want. I want my mom and especially my dad far, far away from here.

[The elf's expression seems to brighten at the mention of Laura knowing her husband, the sharp curve of her smile softening just slightly.] Oh yeah? Well, ain't it a small world? He's such a nerd.

[Lup may not know the exact circumstances of Laura's reasoning for not wanting her parents around, but it's something she can respect (and agree all about her own).] Hey, if anyone ever pops in to give you shit, just let this girl know. I'll light 'em up before they even know what's going on.

[she notices the softening and thinks it's kind of sweet. it must be nice, having someone who makes you smile that way] It sure is. And that's your type, huh?

[the story behind it's long and messy and unhappy and involves a demon possessing her father and using that form to rape her. it also involves murder. so she wants her father in particular nowhere near Hadriel] Really? For me? That's really nice of you. [she's unused to people being nice to her]

Between us girls? One hundred percent. Nothing's cuter than a nerd who goes red behind their thick glasses when you look at them too long. I'm into it.

[What can she say? Girl has a type.]

Sure thing, babe. We don't know each other that well, but y'know, we're chill. We're all in this shit together an' crap.

[she grins at the description] Maybe I've been chasing the wrong kind of guy. I was always more into bad boys. Or at least guys who acted like bad boys.

[Laura has a type, too. and that type is bad for her]

I guess we are. Weird shit happens, we're the ones who have to deal with it.

In my experience, bad boys are a dime a dozen. They're super predictable, don't think they have to try for shit, an' are always gonna put you second. You gotta make an upgrade, girl.

[Also, Lup's nerd in particular is very eager to please, which Lup is happy to use to her advantage. Get you a nerd, sis.]

We all are. Just don't forget you aren't totally alone, alright? We've all got each other's backs and shit.

That sounds like Bobby--my boyfriend back home--all over. I'm pretty sure he was cheating on me, too. An upgrade would be good. It just seems like everyone's already taken.

[Lup may not know Laura that well, but she's assured of that much at least. No one deserves to be cheated on.] And nah, there's a lot of single folks out there. Just gotta wait for the right one to come around. They're out there.
