By now, the gods have probably done enough weird crap to you while you're asleep for you to be a little suspicious- but it's not like you can just not sleep, especially when there are a few supernatural forces making your eyes droopy and your body feel heavy.
And now, when you fall asleep, you'll wake up somewhere else and you'll likely have quite a different temperament- you'll be younger, maybe a little more naive and innocent, and you won't exactly remember all the wild stuff that's happened to your adult self. Maybe now you'll be a little more trusting and emotional, hm? The gods could definitely use a little boost in power, and what better way to do it than to harness the power of overemotional kiddos!
Or maybe you aren't affected at all and find yourself surrounded by youths. What are you going to do when your best friend doesn't know how to cook for themselves? Or your bitter rival is throwing a temper tantrum because they broke their favorite toy? Nobody asked for this kind of responsibility, but think about what would happen if nobody was around to take care of these babies...► This log covers January 23rd-Feb 1st.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you trip over a kid and die, please let us know here.
bring me the combined shit twins
Bygones.
Taako gives a knowing look at Lup, clutches his stomach, and lets out an impressive, crying groan.]
What happened...?
no subject
Taako! Holy shit--!
[Lup drops dramatically to her brother's side, a small hand flying to his back to keep him propped up while she aims a glare at the unfamiliar boys in the moped. While he cries out in fake pain, she yells out after the kids.]
Hey! You jerks! You just hit my brother!
Siblings Squared
The screech to a stop several yards away, Nate casting a worried look over his shoulder. He didn't feel a collision, but it's worth checking anyway.]
I'm sorry! [He scrambles off the scooter before Sam can stop him.] We're sorry! Crap! Are you okay?
Prepare for trouble and make it double
[Sam veers sharply away from the two blondes, hands gripping the handlebars tightly as he tries to maintain control over the Vespa so they both don't go toppling over as well. As the tires skid to a rough and sudden halt, Sam barely has time to turn to ask Nathan if he's okay before his younger brother is off the bike.
After turning the moped off, Sam follows closely behind Nathan, the adrenaline and fear that he might have just killed somebody clouding the fact that he also didn't feel any collision. God, please don't be dead.]
Jesus, I'm sorry I didn't see you. Are you all right? Can you stand?
fuck YES
What was that? It was goin' so fast...
[He looks blearily back at the humans that have moved in, immediately sizing them up for any value.]
Were you guys on that thing?
MY FUCKING BOYS
The boys don't look particularly wealthy, but if they managed to have one of those cool vehicles, they had to have something on 'em.
Or maybe Taako and Lup can just steal their moped and fly off down the street. She's good either way.] I think he might'a broke somethin'. But I'unno how to check...
[Take the bait, kids. Take it!]
FROWNS DEEPLY
He knows they didn't clip anyone. He would have felt it.]
Well...can he move?
no subject
I don't see any blood at least. Where does it hurt exactly?
no subject
I think it was the thing stickin' off there... it hit my ribs.
[Bone damage is always a good lie, and with his arms pressed around there's no way to properly check. And if he needs to illusion a little blood, he needs to illusion a little blood. It'll work out. Just for posterity, he sniffles again, makes sure he's back to looking on the verge of crying.]
no subject
Hey! I gotta get him to a cleric! Let us use your bike-thing. We'll bring it back when we're done. Promise.
no subject
[Nate inquires with no small amount of dubiousness, well aware that his brother - far more knowledgeable about this kind of situation - is stepping around him, a human shield. Almost instinctively Nate's thumbs loop in the arms of his backpack, a minor prevention against theft ingrained in him since he and Sam took to the road.]
You don't even know what it is, how are you gonna ride it?
no subject
Yeah, you know what? I think I saw a uh—[what was the word she used?] —cleric’s office just back down the road there.
[He takes a step back, hopefully signaling to his younger brother to start moving towards the bike. He’s careful not to turn his back on them though. That’s how people get hurt.]
Pretty sure you’re not supposed to move someone after they get hit like that so we’ll bring the guy back to you, all right?
no subject
Clerics don't have offices.
[He's also looking a bit towards Lup, like he's also realizing this isn't going the way they want it to.]
no subject
Lup meets her brother's eyes, letting them linger on his for the briefest of moments, before she's turning back to the two boys.] Fuck it.
[Her dirty face squishes up under her intense concentration, mouth twisting and brows knitting together. To the boys, she almost looks like she's in pain, but then one of her hands is suddenly bursting into flames and that's that.]
Give us all your stuff or I'll roast you!
no subject
The other kids shift, glancing at each other, and Nate is just lifting his foot to turn and book it back to the moped when the girl swears and scrunches her face up. Nate's hand reaches for Sam's jacket, clutching, and then a ball of fire erupts into existence between her and them, balanced in her palm.
Nate's jaw drops and his voice cracks, unable to peel his eyes from the spectacle.]
Sam...?
no subject
Holy shit!
[Comes Sam's shocked exclamation, almost stumbling over his own--and his brother's--feet as he retreats back from the flame. Once he steadies himself again, Sam immediately reaches behind with one hand to grasp at Nathan's arm, keeping him close and ensuring that he remains behind him. The other hand he puts up in the air.]
Okay, okay, look. Just--just take an easy, all right?
[As he talks, he slowly starts shuffling back towards the Vespa, hoping that his words will be enough to distract the two from the movement.]
Look, we don't have anything valuable on us, okay? We're just figuring out where we are ourselves. So let's just--let's just talk this through a little bit, all right?
no subject
Stop movin’! I see you. If you don’t have anythin’… we want that.
[He shifts his hand towards the vehicle, not taking his eyes off the other two boys.]
no subject
Taako grabs for her hand and Lup's mouth twists into the smallest of smiles, her free palm held up higher as the flame burns brighter, hotter, dancing upwards.]
Tough shit. It's your own fault for trustin' us. We conned you so good. [She says, like they actually convinced the boys at all. But she's the one with fire at her disposal, so just try correcting her.]
Hand over your bike an' we'll let you go. No sweat.
no subject
Also, he's a child, and therefore a contradictory, argumentative little shit.]
No way!
[Nate snaps from behind the safety of Sam's back, peering around his side at them. The brothers Drake have yet to discontinue their not-so-subtle backtrack to the scooter.]
There's a lot back down the road full of 'em, so get your own!
whoo boy sorry for the lateness!
Yeah, you said you didn't even know what it was, so how are you gonna get out of here?
[Sam offers, hand still up, and the other still shepherding his younger brother away from them.]
Besides, roasting two kids? That's not exactly something you wanna have to deal with.
its ok!!
[Frankly, they seem completely unconcerned that they're implying murder here?? Add it to their growing list of crimes.]
We don't want one from a, another place. We want this one. With your stuff.
[Better find something to give them they like, or else.]
no subject
[They may be literal children, but they aren't above setting other folks on fire if it means surviving.
... Or just like, getting a sweet bike out of the mix.]
If you have somethin' else you wanna trade, we may let you keep the bike, but it's gotta be good.
