Event Log: Flu Season

What: The event log for the Flu Season event
Where: All over the city
When: March 20th-March 30th
Warnings: Gross sneezing, sick people, and paranoia

It starts with a cough, a sneeze, a sore throat - something small and simple, easily ignored. But then your symptoms get worse. It's probably been awhile since you've been sick, that sort of thing doesn't usually happen here. You might be able to raid the shops for some tissues and tea before it gets too bad, and hopefully you've got a friend to help out until you get better. Surely it'll be over soon, right?

Until the fever sets in, and you start to understand why your friend is really there. They don't want to take care of you. They want to make sure this is the last anyone will ever see of you. They want to learn all your secrets. They want to steal your most precious possession. You know they're plotting against you, you know they're keeping something from you. What will you do to find out what it is?

Then, as the sickness fades, you realize it was all in your mind. Let's hope you didn't do or say anything too awful. But that friend of yours... they seem to have picked up your cough. Maybe you should help them out?

Swift took a half step back when Seel stood, suddenly terrified on top of paranoid. He didn't even bother to hide it, not that he could have if he'd even had the coherence to try.

"Don't come near me. If you touch me I'll scream. I'm not going to let you lock me up again."

Seel was too surprised to do anything for a moment. Then he started shaking his head.

"Swift, you're being irrational. I'm sorry, you know how I get. Now stop acting like a harling."

[swiftlet]

"I said don't!" He couldn't have stopped Seel and it felt like he was losing his mind, but he couldn't stop it either. It was irrational, but it felt inevitable too.

"Leave me alone. Please."

"Where the fuck am I supposed to go Swift?" Seel sighed and started gathering up what he was looking at. "Fine, you know what? I'll go somewhere else. Maybe by the time I come back you'll be in a better mood."

It should have helped. He should be feeling some kind of relief (or not) with Seel leaving, but instead it was only making it worse. What was Seel going to do now that Swift wouldn't have his eyes on him? Who was he going to talk to? How much did Swift have to worry.

Instead of vocalizing any of that, he nodded silently, trying not to panic and was only partly successful. He had to keep breathing. Maybe it would be better.

Rolling his eyes at Swift's petrified nod in his direction, Seel gathered up his things and shook his head.

"I don't know what's wrong with you Swift, but when I get back you better be in a better mood so we can talk about this." He didn't like just how scared Swift seemed of him. Had he really done that?

Seel sighed and walked to the door. "I'll be back in a couple of hours."

He should have stopped him--and not just because he was terrified of what Seel was going to plan when he wasn't looking. It was an irrational stupid fear and if he had been anything but paranoid, he'd have commended Seel's self control seeing as he hadn't stormed across the room and hit him yet. Had Swift been in his place, he might have smacked himself. Maybe it would knock some sense into him.

And then another hypocritical, irrational thought ran itself through his head and he couldn't keep quiet.

"Please be safe. Please don't get hurt."

Seel would have appreciated the comment because at the moment it felt like his self control was being overlooked and unappreciated. Until Swift voiced that small comment. That was nice. Okay, there was still Swift in there, whatever was bothering him. At least he still cared.

"I'll be fine. Nothing's going to happen to me. Just....do what you need to do Swift."

And with that, he walked out the door and quietly shut it.
