Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Lance's attention has been more on food than the people carrying such food, and so he doesn't realize at first that it's Julie until he hears her voice. Yeah, okay, awkward, but her response is pretty neutral so he'll just go with it.]

Yeah, it is, and you totally have a deal.

[Pad thai is awesome, and he could definitely use some of the vegetables included. He offers her one of the muffins, as promised, though it feels like an unfair trade still and so--]

Alcohol. [He quickly adds. It's only half a lie, he's drank them before sure but unfortunately it never does a thing to him. A little side-effect to being immune to poisons such as alcohol. While some might see it as a pity that he'll never be able to feel intoxicated but Edgar doesn't mind. After all, there is a little point missing something that's never been part of his life.] I haven't had that many chances to try them out.

[ Of course, he probably has been stuck with more than usual anyway, since Curufin hasn't been up to it for these last two weeks and can't take his usual turn. ]

( a curt, triumphant— ) Hn. ( is akira's response to the praise, as he replaces the bowl on a more stable surface. it probably was good luck that he'd avoided it spilling down the front of his school uniform.

proficiency +1? ) Well, it would have been a shame to waste anyway, this is some of the best food I've had since I arrived, don't you think Komaeda-kun?

The creature talks too much for one she wants nothing to do with. In fact, her desire to kill him even evaporates - his ability to drive her up the wall reminds her of Charles, who, having died at her hands, now seems to insist on coming back to annoy her. She lets out a sigh and deliberately collects up her coffee cup, refills it, then stirs cream into it, taking her time without replying for a good few moments.

"I owe you nothing. I look forward to the day these false gods are destroyed. I will hang you by an ankle and gut you like a rabbit."

That announced, she turns to take her leave, hoping to find better company.

I'm not sure Boss would be too pleased with someone copying his recipe so well, but... ( he takes another spoonful, closing his eyes briefly and clearly savouring it... ) It's the best thing I've tasted in months...

Maybe! No way to know, I suppose. It does affect how you see the world, I think, when you grow up surrounded by family.

[And this is where Girl's understand of the world and manners makes her stand out. She takes his words a little too literally and takes a handful of noodles from her box. Tapping his wrist with her other hand to get at his palm, she deposits the food right into his hand.

She's actually rather pleased with herself for finding someone to share with.]

[He wants more details, but it's pretty apparent Law doesn't necessarily want to get into it. So he won't press for now, instead deciding to ask a different relevant question.]

Is he a dangerous person in general, or is this limited to an issue between the two of you?

[Not that the latter would be a good thing, but he's not sure if this guy is a loose canon threat to everyone or this is specific to Law.]

( looking at it curiously, akira takes the drink in his hands and examines the contents inside... swirling it around a little at first, then leaning in to give it a sniff with a thoughtful— )

Hmm. ( as though he was trying to place it, somehow. finally, he takes a sip, letting the liquid glide over his tastebuds for a little while before finally swallowing. ) It almost tastes like...

( he'd take another swing to be sure, before concluding— ) These beans we once had from New Zealand but... brewed completely different.

( there's a nod in approval, and he smiles giving a thumbs up with his other hand. ) It's good.

[now that is actually a complicated question. Law stands there looking distant for a minute while he considers it. Is he? Knowing what he knows now of Doflamingo's past...]

He's a sadist and a sociopath. He has no remorse or capacity for humanity. But...the things he wants, the things that matter to him, aren't here. So, I don't really know. He could get bored and try to kill a god, or he could be content sitting around drinking. I have no idea anymore.

[he could very well wander into the party, enjoy some steak and wine, and aside from being a bit of a boor do nothing. or he could kill them all. who knows?]

Great, exactly the kind of people we need more of here.

[He'd been really relieved when the previous people that fit both those categories had left, although he imagines there are a few more around that are staying under the radar. But alright, first thing first.]

Okay. We'll deal with that as it comes, then, and perhaps we can figure out something new for him to focus on that keeps his attention.

[That's the strategy he'd wanted to use for Sato, before Sato had ended up doing it himself. But Lance is also quietly pleased that Law knows motives and goals are important in dealing with these kinds of people.

Is there anything I can do to help you, in dealing with the issues between you?

[He doesn't mean resolving it, really; he doubts he could. But it's more a roundabout offer to help Law in dealing with this in general, because it has to be a stressful and difficult situation.]

I can't avoid it forever. But I've got enough going on without having to babysit the likes of him> on top of it.

[with a quick shake of his head] ...no. Just...don't get on his bad side. The impermanence of death doesn't mean he won't enjoy killing you if things turn sour. [and I like you enough to warn you, okay]

It isn't your responsibility to babysit him just because he's from your world.

[He wants that to be clear; it's obvious Law has enough to worry about, especially with the Name stuff on top of everything else.

And yeah that's... That's a warning that is not at all terrifying. But he appreciates that Law cares to make sure he knows what he's dealing with, though.]

I'll try to avoid upsetting him.

[Which is easier said than done, considering Lance is great at attracting the attention of some of the worst people in this place and at home, but whatever.]

Does he have magic, or is he just a good fighter, or what?

Hmm...? [Yusuke seems a bit concerned, but he's too polite to pry into something as personal as eating habits, so he leaves it at that for now.] Yes, it really is wonderful. One doesn't realise what one takes for granted until it is taken away. But, with Hope returning to the city, things should improve for the better.

[Barring any exceptional incident like another Null attack, but they should be prepared enough to deal with that now, at least.]

[He wasn't aware there were vampires in Hadriel but, honestly? Neither the weirdest nor the worst thing going on here. As long as it's not for him, and they're not running around murdering people, he could care less.]

Gotta be honest though, rose jam sounds pretty good. What all goes into rose soup?

[He's pretty sure roses are sweet, and that doesn't sound like a soup kinda thing.]
