Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

"Cole is fine He won't mind if I'm still Cole a little longer." Hopefully he finally has peace now.

[bythewaves]

"And what are you now, little memory, if you are no longer Cole?"

[fadeling]

"I'm me. I'm a whisper, a dream, a song sighed into silence, saying the words you need to hear. I hear the hurts and I help them heal."

[bythewaves]

Maglor echoes his words back to him in a song, curling gentle around them both,

healing and rest

"There must be much work for you here, little one."

[fadeling]

"Yes." That's just the truth, and he doesn't bother to deny it. "But here I can help."

[bythewaves]

"It's good that you have the heart for such work." He hums. "Not all do, but your touch here is needed, I think."

[fadeling]

"Sometimes. People don't like when I listen." He does anyway but they can be terrible about it later. Sometimes he forgets, other times it stays for a while before he does.

[bythewaves]

"I suppose folk don't necessarily like their pain to be noticed, sometimes. But I think it is not a bad thing, that you do."

[fadeling]

He's probably the first one outside Thedas who does think that and it's...strange to hear, a little.

"I have to know what hurts to help. Most people don't like it."

[bythewaves]

"Pain hurts." Maglor shrugs a little. "Fresh pain, especially so. And most folk dislike pain. But any healer can tell you that sometimes you need to rebreak a bone, if it has set wrong, or lance an abscess to let the poison out. Pain isn't necessarily a bad thing. And you want to help, not hurt."

[fadeling]

"I know." He makes the hard decisions sometimes, hurt more now for less hurt later. He doesn't like to, but he does. Because he helps. That's all he exists to do.

"They think they like it, sometimes. They think it makes them more. So they know they're real."

[bythewaves]

Maglor huffs softly.

"I know how that feels." He murmurs. "But tis not pain that is the proof of reality, I think, but hope."

[fadeling]

"Sometimes hope hides. But hurt is always there."

[bythewaves]

"Aiya Earendil Elennion Ancalima, Nai gil-Estel silanna tielvo! - Hail Earendil, brightest of stars, may the star of High Hope shine upon our paths." Maglor translates for him, the words shivering with both pain and joy.

"If there is one thing we have learnt, it is that joy shine brighter for the pain intermingled, and hope fails not, although it might be faint indeed."

[fadeling]

"It's hard to see the little lights through the clouds when it hurts. Sometimes they forget to look." Sometimes they aren't bright enough. Sometimes it feels like they aren't there at all.

"People try, but they can't always hear the ending."

[bythewaves]

"It can be. But the stars are always there, even when veiled from sight." Maglor hums. "I will not say the day is done, nor bid the stars farewell!" He sings softly. "Despair is only for those who can see clearly the end. You should ask Fingon about his last battle, if he can bear to speak of it. Aure entuluva! Day will come again, even if we see it not."

[fadeling]

"People forget, sometimes. They think too loud about worries and whispers." And other things too, sometimes. "They remember when they want to forget and forget when they need to remember."

[bythewaves]

"They forget to look up." Maglor says simply.

[fadeling]

"Down is easier when it's heavy."

[bythewaves]

"Though here at journey's end I lie
In darkness buried deep
Beyond all towers strong and high
Beyond all mountains steep

Above all shadows rides the Sun
And Stars for ever dwell..."

He sings softly. "It is. But high above the murk the stars still shine, and though long indeed the night, still the sun rises again every morn. The night has come and has conquered the day, but only for this hour. The day comes and the night passes, yet it will return again, as will the day."

[fadeling]

"Forgetting is easy. Remembering is harder. When the dark closes closer, the hope feels unearned. It hurts too much to know they forgot when they try to remember."

[bythewaves]

"Even so." He smiles sadly.

"You are very wise, young one."

[fadeling]

"I only listen. Listening helps." Not enough people listen, so he does.

[bythewaves]

"It does - sometimes people are too impatient to listen, I suppose."

[fadeling]

"They try to help themselves. They don't have time to listen to someone else."
