Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

Is it as weird for you as it is for me to have to actually be worrying about demons? Like literal demons.

Curufin nodded. "It's the same in my family, in fact, in my whole clan. Nearly all of the Noldor have black hair and gray eyes. The exception is the few redheads in my family -- my paternal grandfather, my mother, and my eldest brother. But that again supports the idea of inherited traits."

"Say. . . you don't think we could be related, do you?" he said with a smile. He was joking, but who knew? -- if there could be Doors in the multiverse, then people might have been traveling for longer than anybody guessed.

And he continued to watch the handful of bright fire, and suddenly Kelson let it float upwards from his hand. "Impressive!"

"I was actually wondering the same thing. Gray eyes and black hair are a typical Haldane trait. Of course, my Haldane ancestors were originally human." Curufin may have been joking, but stranger things had happened. And the Haldane's had to get the ability to acquire Deryni magic from somewhere. Most humans didn't have it. Or at least, so he thought. Kelson hadn't exactly gone around testing everyone though.

For all Kelson knew, they were from the same place, just centuries or millennia apart. Or a coincidence.

"Not very impressive. Four years old can do this."

Oh alas, my lonely thesis will be confined forever to the shelves of some dusty bookcase in a corner of a dark house. The Halls of Mandos, only for books. [ Snicker snicker ] For unfortunate books that swore an Oath of allegiance to the God of Babble.

[One eyebrow raises over the rose, which he finally brings down from his face. Swinging his long hair over his shoulder, he gently nudges it into his braid, letting the bloom sit at the top. The braid only starts midway down his back, so it ties over where his hair falls loose into order. He seems pretty pleased with himself, at least. The spectral hand that was holding his food and drink places it down on a nearby table, and dispells itself.

You've got his attention now, buddy.]

[He steps forward, closing some space between them.]

Sounds like you have something in mind.

I guess it's probably a good thing if they aren't trying to get in.

[ Oh right, he's supposed to be drinking this stuff. ]

Though it kind of leaves me with nothing worth writing home about.

I don't know if people even know what's in there, any more. Some of those manuscripts are from our very earliest days of writing.

No sense of adventure to see what might lie on the other side?

Some, but I think I've gotten too accustomed to a soft life. I wouldn't know the first thing about an adventure. I'm still shocked I survived my last one.

[ Maglor mock tsks at him ]

Oh dear me, how tragic! Although I'll confess to enjoy a warm bed when I can have one!

If you do you are not listening to me any more than you say I listen to you. I am obligated to Margaery, Ignis. I do not expect you to understand, and I seek no one's approval nor permission save the only two here who have any right to gainsay me.

Nate is halfway done with his third (fourth? probably fifth, he's lost count) drink, caffeine mixing fairly well with the alcohol - like an Irish coffee, but better - and he's a split second away from swaying to the other side of the table to grab something to eat when a delicate, fur-clad arm loops through his.

He blinks at it.

"Uh. Sure? Where are we going?"

You'd be hard pressed, I think, to find anyhar who doesn't. But so long as I have one, I think I'd like to take advantage.

I'm plenty adventurous. You should hear half the things I done. [She crosses her arms over her chest, pout tugging at her lips.] I just don't food's something to get adventurous 'bout.

[She watches Elena eat, looking like she half expects the woman to drop dead at any second.]

That could be full up on poison or made out of something's insides. Is it makin' you sick?

Pretty much. [There's no denying it. They're kept here as a power source, food for their overlords. It's not sitting right with Girl by any means.] And there's not much we can do to stop right now.

[They're stuck in a cycle of inaction, waiting for a window of opportunity so they can do something.]

They fuck with us plenty 'lready. People gettin' sick last month, that weird dreamin' shit. It's how they get what they want.

Then... maybe we should start making our own. ( She laughs, but it would be a nice way to get to know others. Sure, there's the Speakeasy's offerings when the Door opens, but why stop there? )

( ... That sounds eerily familiar, enough that Serah stops chewing on her pastry for a brief second. )

Um... Yeah. A sister. ( Who isn't here. Who she's supposed to be trying to find in Valhalla, but... ) She looked after me after our parents died. But she's not around now.

It's not a bad place to be. I kinda like it here.

( She hopes so, too. Not because she dislikes Hadriel, but because there are things back home which are important to her, to the future of her world. )
