It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

"What was the impetus for the previous feasts?" Kelson restrained himself. "It's customary where I'm from for one to introduce oneself to the other."
As for the peacock, yes he was enjoying it, thank you.

"There was one after the weird paintball tournament. I still have that stupid gun." Unused, of course because really, what was she going to do with it? And Will already had a bow that he preferred. And he was probably the only one she could think of who'd manage to do something with a gun.
"You started talking first." Now he's concerned about manners? "But I'm Annabeth. Nice to meet you too, mystery person."

"Paintball. Gun." He turned the words over in his mouth, trying to get a feel for them. And my goodness was she rude. He started to glare at her at the amazing disregard for court etiquette much less any actual etiquette whatsoever and then stopped. Different world. Different kingdom. Pants.
He took a breath, and introduced himself, because he actually still had manners. "King Kelson of Gwynedd. It's a pleasure to meet you, my lady." Whether that was actually true remained to be seen. So far all she had going for her was a lack of politeness and form fitting attire, which did not bode well for her station. But she wasn't the first woman he'd seen wearing such. It just made him rather uncomfortable.
At least Laura had been polite.

Her first thought was to say something stupid like "wow, tell us your grade point average too." Her second was to realize that that might end up with another in a long line of people and monsters out for her blood. Besides, he wasn't Hera and all he'd done was look at her funny and take offense to not being addressed by a title she didn't know he had. Although she was still of the opinion that he should get that knocked out of him sooner rather than later. No one here could afford to hold up a name they'd been born with as a defense against anything.
"Uh. Yeah. You too, Your Majesty." See, she could be polite.

"Surviving. There was a a feast held as a reward for some blood sport game?" He was slowly putting the pieces together, a little bit hard considering he didn't quite understand all of the words. "What's a gun?" He also wanted to know what paintball and bullets were but one at a time. He wasn't liking the picture forming in his mind.
"And you survived it. Excellent job." And horrific. Assuming a regular human lady would not be able to survive such things, or for that nature a man either. So. What was so special about her? He let out a light probe, trying to discern if she had shields or any kind of magical defenses that would give him a clue.

She wasn't entirely ready to give away all her secrets, though. And while that cap of hers had come in rather handy, there was still a limited number of people who knew it existed and she liked to keep it that way.
"I mostly just hid for a while. Took some potshots from there." What, it was a sound strategy. It kept her safe.
Oh wait, he'd asked another question.
"Oh. Uh. A gun is like a weapon that shoots pieces of metal--or paintballs--at high speeds. It leaves a mess behind, usually, and they're loud even dampened, but at least you get distance."
no subject
"I expect a congratulations is in order than." Not that he thought that really was a place for a woman but she survived. That merited skill. He wasn't sure what 'potshots' or 'paintballs' still were but he was putting pieces together.
"And after this rather unlethal tournament a feast was supplied." Kelson put his wine down so he could put a hand over his eyes. What sort of place had he ended up in?
no subject
"Yeah. I guess it was the reward for participating or celebrating the winners." There were a few, she was just one of them. She just wished the prizes weren't so useless. Well. Maybe just useless to her. Most people probably didn't mind having an extra weapon on hand, even if it wasn't their preferred one. She just didn't like dealing with it. Call her picky.
"Honestly, I don't think these gods really know how actual people function. It's like they read a book about people one time a century ago and then threw it out the window."
no subject
Still he listened to what she said, he'd be a poor king if he didn't know how to listen to people who knew more than he did. "What do you mean?" He pointedly ignored the 'gods' part. "They don't know how people function? I would imagine that came from having individuals from different kingdoms and worlds. That is quite a difference."
no subject
That sounded familiar.
"You can ask them for something specific, but for the most part, they really have no clue."
no subject
He looked around at the feast. "They do seem to be trying though. They can do it. Perhaps it is not that they do not understand, but that they do not want to provide it. "
As for asking for something, he could. He didn't want anything in particular but he need need to make contact with Hope or Fear. Kelson believed in going to the top to get answers.
no subject
"I guess it could be worse, but it could be a lot better too."
no subject
"Has anyone pointed this out to them? What they're doing that could be done better? You can't expect anyone to learn unless their failings are pointed out to them." God knows his were often enough.
no subject
"Even if they did listen, they probably wouldn't understand. As much as they look human--or most of them do, anyway--they never have been."
no subject
"They might learn faster if we made it unpleasant for them." He wasn't entirely sure how but royal pages sure learned faster when his uncle Nigel threatened them with extra work and the like. Added incentive helped.

"I don't intend to get smited. I intend to ask nicely." He might not be used to talking to 'gods' but he was used to talking to kings and archbishops and other people who considered themselves powerful and not to be trifled with.
no subject
"Your idea of asking nicely is probably not the same as theirs. Or else they might just decide it's hilarious you're even tying and smite you anyway for the fun." That's a thing that happens.
no subject
"Diplomatic overtures are never without risk. One kingdoms ideas of asking nicely is never the same as another's. As long as no one dies that's at least a partial success. Although, I'd say in some cases even death gets things moving." He just hoped it wasn't his.
no subject
"I guess they do listen as long as you're polite and I haven't heard about any smitings lately so you might be okay. They'll probably ask for something in return for helping, though."
no subject
"I've heard about that. I honestly am not sure how I feel about it. Asking for something in return is good and well I suppose. " That at least was a change of heart, if not a mild one.

He still wasn't crazy about the idea, but there was really only one way to find out and get to know these creatures and what they wanted and were all about. And that was to talk with them.
"What do you know about Hope and Fear? Is there one you would trust more than the other? Or is one more knowledgeable?"
no subject
"Sorry. That was kind of a lot at once."
no subject
Kelson mulled over this in his mind, he wasn't sure he wanted anything particular, besides gaining information on why certain things were chosen, such as housing design, gaining more knowledge regarding how they thought and acted, hierarchy and decision making.
