Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[yeah, it's not worth talking about. His lurking around the fringes of the room is all anyone needs to guess that he's not exactly having fun]

Onigiri. [see? Atem might have seen it around his time as Yugi's internal companion.] Tuna inside. It's my favorite.

No salmon?

Not in these. I did find some sashimi, though. It looks like...a lot of people were missing seafood.

And coffee. [ugh he wishes the coffee would stay]

I haven't had any of those in a long time... 「Eight months or something. Not that Yugi was too much into that, mochi on the other hand... Maybe there is some around too.」 Where is everything? And what are you drinking? I found beer. My beer anyway...

「He says with a bit of a smirk, as a kid he obviously didn't like it, they were considerate enough to him to make something a little less bitter for him. What a pampered little Pharaoh. Of course that changed as he grew up but the memory was a nice one.」

He looks into his tankard, what is he drinking right now?]

Mm. Rum. I keep going back and forth between liquor and coffee. I have a feeling I'm going to be up all night after this.

「Nice directions... Fine, he's gonna go looking for those. What is night?, though? He's forgotten.」

Rum.

「 He raises an eyebrow, a little smirk taking shape. So, Law could be like all those pirate clichés after all.」

Is it as tasty as they say?

「That's a gimmie some, yo.」

It is for me, I don't know if you'd want it. [that, at least, he can point out - a collection of bottles at one end of a table. Everybody here wants booze, it seems, so there's a fascinating selection]

「So. Damn. Rude. There is nothing unsanitary about indirect kisses that, it's not like he has the plague or anything jfc.
Also, someone needs to teach this guy how to share! Fine.」

I might give it a try later then.

「Or maybe he'll stumble upon that rich spiced wine he also used to have. The life was good.」

[excuse you we just got done with a mystery plague Law's taking zero chances here]

What, social gatherings? No. [despite pirates being somewhat cliche sometimes and having parties at both appropriate and inappropriate times] At least when it's my crew it's twenty people I'm intimately familiar with and don't have to make small talk with.

「Is he talking about him? Too bad he's just gonna eat and drink until he passes out.

Here, have more of his precious food.」

Before everything is gone, we should actually save some food too.

「And booze. Oh, also...」

「Now, that's one interesting change in Law's voice. Sounds like very much like him when he was given fish roe,
WHEN HE WAS SEVEN.」

「The pirate can bet there is a slightly diverted tone in his voice.」

[real answer: because Cora-san didn't and I was impressionable enough at thirteen to make him my whole life and therefore...

Everybody has foods they don't like, right?

「No! IT'S DISGUSTING, ew, the texture........ and don't get him started on the flavor!」

Yeah, that's true.

「Asking doesn't hurt, though.」 

It's a bit of a shame, though... There are some from home too.

「Don't mind the nostalgic demeanor. Yugi would have loved them. He eats just another one of those little pieces of heaven. But he goes a little serious after that.」

Say, Law... aren't you tired of all of this...? Of being treated like a guinea pig?

Mm. Yeah.

[murmured into his drink. He feels that so hard]

Pieces are falling into place, though. It's time to take matters into our own hands.

[his vaunted intentions of finding the gods a new food source, of researching the Door and the conflict with the Null, have been backburnered thanks to subsistence-level living. But now Hope is at full power, Sorrow will be returning, they've rescued the renegade Null, and they have luxuries and new houses and everything. Time to stop thinking about fishing enough for everyone to not starve every day and start thinking rebellion.]

「That sounds like something is brewing under the surface. He's not sure what, though. So, when Atem looks up at him, there is doubt in his eyes. What's on your mind, dude?

He can only assume so much, but their thoughts aren't so different, no. He moves away from the table and more into the shadow where Law probably came from, being careful to look around shying away from unknown faces.」

How?

「He's never been on this side of the fence, he always held the resources, the power and the people (until he didn't). Here, they are but a bitter bunch of individuals who have been held against their will and put under impossible circumstances for far too long.」

[yes, secret conferences murmured in the corner, good. The shadows are safe, though what he wouldn't give for Corazon's ability right now instead of his own.]

One thing at a time. Lance-ya is working on things. As soon as Sorrow is in any capacity, I'm going to talk to him.

[he's aware that probably won't amount to anything but he's damn tired of sitting back and relying on outdated information told third-hand from people who aren't even in the city any longer]

「He doesn't seem to have much opinion about that. Or maybe he's just being cagey about it. He can do that too.」

Probably not. [oh well!] But I need to be proactive. We need a real solution, this can't go on for the rest of our lives.

[he's not living out a life here and then going back to find out Straw Hat has already been the Pirate King for twenty years goddammit]
