Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[Kyna's been wandering around, snagging other people's food, but right now she's got a plate full of sushi in one hand and a beer in the other. She's looking for Wash kind of absently, but when she finally spots him, the crazy straw is the first thing she notices.]

What is that?

[hardwearing]

[ It actually takes him a moment to realize what she's referring to, then he looks almost defensive of the straw. You will have to pry it from him, Kyna. ]

Nostalgia.

[evocation]

[No, don't do that, Wash. That's just tempting her, and she grins, reaching for it.]

Give it.

[hardwearing]

[ Kyna he is so much bigger than you, he can seriously just hold it over his head. ]

No, it's mine. Get your own.

[evocation]

But I want that one.

[No, she doesn't. She just wants to fuck with him. Kyna sets her plate and beer down carefully, and then makes a pathetic jump for the straw.]

[hardwearing]

[ She looks ridiculous. Honestly they probably both do, but she's still not getting his straw. Anyway, there are three more poking out of his pocket, if she's noticed that. This is a matter of principle. ]

You just want it because I have it.

[evocation]

Nuh-uh. Are you calling me immature or something?

[hardwearing]

Would that be better or worse than calling you a horrible straw thief?

[evocation]

Worse. I'm only horrible because you're too tall, and I'm not using magic to cheat.

[But whatever! She gives up and grabs her plate of sushi again.]

Have you ever tried sushi?

[hardwearing]

[ Is she really giving up? He seems wary for a moment longer, before dropping his straw back into his beer and shaking his head at the question. ]

I haven't.

[evocation]

[She offers him the plate.]

Try it. Wait, pick it up with the straws, though.

[hardwearing]

[ What. ]

With the... that's not going to work.

[ He kinda knows how to use chopsticks but has absolutely no practice with it, and straws are a little bendy.... ]

[evocation]

Come on, just try.

[It'll be fun, Wash!]

[hardwearing]

[ He is a buzzkill, hasn't Tucker told you so? ]

Can't we just skip the failure part to me picking it up with my hands?

[evocation]

[Kyna laughs, rolling her eyes.]

Oh my God. Give me the straws.

[hardwearing]

[ Leave his straws alone!!! ]

You already have chopsticks, why do you need to contaminate my straws with raw fish?

[evocation]

You're so lame, Wash.

[hardwearing]

God, now you sound like Tucker. Give me those.

[ He's just gonna hijack her chopsticks and try to remember how they work. ]

[evocation]

God, you're so bad at that.

[hardwearing]

Now imagine if I was trying it with straws...

[ A little help here? ]

[evocation]

[Kyna holds her hand out for the chopsticks.]

Gimme.

[hardwearing]

[ Yeah, she can have them back. ]

Show me?

[evocation]

[She adjusts the chopsticks in her hands and picks up a piece of sushi, holding it up for him to see.]

Ta-da.

[And then she moves it a bit closer.]

You have to eat it in one bite.

[hardwearing]

[ Wash quirks an eyebrow -- he doesn't get to try again? Okay. This is super cutesy, Kyna, but he'll just take the bite.

And makes a distinctly thinky face as he chews it. ]

[evocation]

[This is the nicest thing they've had in forever. Let her be cutesy! She grins at his reaction, tilting her head.]
