It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.
There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!
To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!► This log covers April 14th-April 19th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you get hit by levitating rubble or eat a food that wasn't meant for you, please let us know here.

He waits until he's managed to not drop oyster on himself to respond.]
I mean, I guess so. Never really thought of it that way. [He shrugs.] I guess new things don't really worry me.
[New people are another story, but Glacius doesn't need to hear about that.]
So you absorb nutrients. How does that work? Is it like, through your skin?

The alien tries to compromise with an answer that clarifies, and yet is appropriately vague.] Yes, something like that, aided by the local secretion of specialized digestive enzymes. It is nothing gruesome, though, do not worry. Just like you humans learn to chew with your mouth closed, we learn to be discrete and polite about it.

Oh, cool, so kind of like, uh. We have creatures on our planet that do that too, sort of, mostly sea-dwellers? Invertebrates. Like starfish, but they turn their stomachs inside out, and that's how they do it. It's strongly theorized that most life on our planet used to do that, but then they moved over to internal digestion before they evolved for life on land. There was a study a few years ago where they said hagfish might still be able to eat through their skin? But I don't know if that was ever conclusively proven.
[He stops himself, realizing he's been just sort of babbling.]
Sorry, I don't mean to compare you to a hagfish. I mean they're neat animals, but- Anyway, I think that's really interesting. And I don't think it sounds gruesome.

[Perhaps there's some commonality there, now that he thinks about it.]

[He shrugs.]
I think it's pretty cool how we all evolved so differently, but we can all still understand each other. I don't mean like, languages, I think the gods are probably doing something with that, I mean like, we're all sentient people.
[He's not so great with words, but he hopes his meaning gets across.]

Yeah, humans are like that sometimes. Sorry you've had to deal with it.
[Though he realizes he can't speak on behalf of all humans in all worlds, so this doesn't really make it better.]
At least most of the people here seem pretty cool? [At least he hopes nobody in Hadriel has been an asshole to Glacius. At least not because of the alien thing.]

"Cool"... a word you humans have adapted to slang for agreeable or desirable. Yes, I have met a fair number of people who I would describe as such. I admit that I find your race to be one of the most predisposed towards conflict, be it external or internal, but seeing your helpfulness and consideration is at least heartening. I no longer have to wonder if I was misguided in my attempts to defend your race. [The alien pauses, then lets out a little rumbling sound that might be a chuckle.] Though many others might disagree. That is fine; I know my path.

[Human history, not to mention his own personal history, is a pretty good indicator that they're not exactly a peaceful species.]
I'm, uh, glad you didn't give up on us, though. [And it's not even entirely because the idea of Glacius as an enemy is kind of scary.]
So then... your people don't have wars or anything? Or at least, I guess you must not have nearly as many as we do.
no subject
The latter. Our wars are incredibly infrequent and we try to avoid them whenever possible. Our culture in general thrives around conflict resolution and working for the betterment of the whole rather than the few. Beyond that, we simply despise violence and brutality; we are at our hearts a peaceful species. Our involvement in external affairs grew from a desire to see that same peace and order extended further into the galaxy.
