Event Log: A Hope for the Future

What: The event log for the A Hope for the Future event
Where: All over the city!
When: April 15th-April 19th
Warnings: Stealth Rock

It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

I am very old, Swift. Old enough to have seen how the patterns in the story unfold, and that alone gives me hope, even though I cannot see the ending.

[swiftlet]

I suppose there are worse things I could do than try to trust you.

[bythewaves]

[ For a moment, shadow clouds his eyes ]

And better things, also.

[ He says softly and then shakes it off ]

But in this, at least, I suppose I have had some experience.

[swiftlet]

[There's a story behind that too, but Swift isn't sure he even wants to hear it this time.]

I appreciate it. I never thought I would need it, and I'm just glad someone else can give it to me.

[ A very good idea ]

I am glad I can give you some hope, at least!

[swiftlet]

It's more than I had before. Thank you.

Small enough! But small things sometimes add up into large ones.

[swiftlet]

Eventually, with enough of them, I suppose.

One can hope.

[ Maglor smiles wryly ]

Little enough that it is, at times.

[swiftlet]

It's more than nothing. Not much more, perhaps, but still more.

[ Abruptly he laughs, softly ]

'Little by little, one wanders far'. A wiser man than I said that. I suppose he was right.

[swiftlet]

He must have known a thing or two.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor nods ]

Oh I'm sure she did - she was a wandering trader from the far eastern deserts of Khand. They have a very unique view of the world out there, I find. I suppose living on the edge of what is possible to survive will do that.

[swiftlet]

I suppose so. The edges are where hara become stranger too, I think.

[bythewaves]

I think it's the silence, and the danger. [ Maglor muses ] After speaking to her, I found that I wished to go in that direction myself - I had been by the sea for a very long time.

[swiftlet]

I would hope you don't become too much stranger.

[bythewaves]

[ He laughs silently at that again ]

So do I! But a sea of sand... that might be a fine thing to see.

[swiftlet]

Perhaps, though I can't imagine it would remain such a fine thing for long.

[bythewaves]

Once it started getting everywhere, I imagine so! [ Maglor grins ]

Certainly, this place has proven some of that. But I don't know how similar it is to Khand.

[swiftlet]

If it's at all close, I think I might take one look at it and be finished.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor laughs again ]

No sense of adventure to see what might lie on the other side?

[swiftlet]

Some, but I think I've gotten too accustomed to a soft life. I wouldn't know the first thing about an adventure. I'm still shocked I survived my last one.

[bythewaves]

[ Maglor mock tsks at him ]

Oh dear me, how tragic! Although I'll confess to enjoy a warm bed when I can have one!

[swiftlet]

You'd be hard pressed, I think, to find anyhar who doesn't. But so long as I have one, I think I'd like to take advantage.

[bythewaves]

You've never met my brother Celegorm. [ Maglor says dryly ] That one was always happier outdoors than he ever was in!
