It's finally time to reap the rewards you've earned from all that hard work collecting and returning the Hope orbs! Be careful walking the streets during the small earthquakes, but feel free to admire the scenery as your beautiful city reassembles its way back into its former glory.

There are new houses where the destroyed buildings once were, and they're perfect for a single person or pair of lovebirds. In addition, you'll find that the electricity to these new houses, and all other homes and shops in the city is restored. The food is better, the monsters are gone- hey, this city might be livable again!

To cap it all off, we've got a feast waiting for you on the 19th! Come one, come all, and enjoy all of your favorite foods, drinks, and party games. It's been awhile since we've all gotten together to celebrate something good, so get your party on and toss all your troubles away!

[He still doubts the amount of use any of the gods could be. They were firmly in the enemy camp for having brought him and his brother here.

That mention of Delight was new information. Backstabbed who? The humans? It couldn't be backstabbing if they were already against them. Against the other gods? That could be much more interesting.]

Backstabbing? Explain.

[Some would see it that way, sure. Rey's been around long enough that it's hard to resent the gods for giving her and others who have nothing to go back to another chance. Those who actually have lives or aren't about to be eviscerated, though? Probably not going to be as stoked to be here.]

Guess she'd been leaking info to the Null for a long time. She seemed to think that her species would be better off if she just snuffed Hope and give the rest of them up to be energy slaves or whatever.

[No doubt Delight thought she was doing the right thing, but most would disagree. Rey included.]

[If that was Delight's only goal, then she wouldn't be a potential ally either. No, all this was doing was confirming what he already knew: the only side to be on was his own. The gods were the enemy, even their traitor wouldn't be useful, their enemies were murderers, and the other captives were all idiots or barbarians ~~No offense Rey.~~]

More like a pitiful coward. Seemed that she thought it'd be better to live as a slave than to die or fight.

[Rey says this with every amount of disdain that she has for Delight these days. The mere thought that she did all this to send everyone home, even knowing that it would be a death sentence for many, earns the god all of Rey's ire.

[Almost as much as she spits at Love every time she passes by their temple or hot springs.]

[If Kaiba knew that was Delight's goal, he might have to rethink her usefulness. He'd much rather he and his brother were back in Domino than this hell hole. Nods with her assessment, since 'pitiful coward' is the perfect name for anyone who would let themselves be a slave.]

Hmpf. So they're all useless, but Sorrow is less useless than the others. Got it.

Wouldn't necessarily say all of them are. [Rey finishes her drink, expression neutral even though she doesn't like the implications of Sorrow being considered "useless" in any way. She likes the guy.]

Hope is useful. Practically keeps the city running. He provides decent food and electricity. [The neutrality turns into disdane then.] Fucking Null trashed my dam during the last attack, so it's back to Hope to managing the power grid for a while.

[Rey just hadn't had much time to fix the damage, between trying to catch up with the Speakeasy and literally not being herself for a while.]

[That information made her far more interesting than anything else she had previously said. His stare turned more intense (and just a little bit manic).]

You creating a power source outside of the gods' influence? How hard would it be to repair?

[Ah yes, this one's got the crazy eyes.]

Was my first project after coming here. It was on a fully functional god-free power grid. [So Rey's pissed on general principal on top of its destruction being caused by the synthetic assholes.] The whole thing got trashed, so the whole thing has to be repaired. Thought about making another power source, but who knows if we'll end up someplace next that'll provide sufficient solar or wind energy, so it'll probably have to be hydro again.

The obvious answer is to make more than one source. That way if one goes down, the other can still run.

[He already had plans to start working on a solar power with the two suns. If there was already a non-gods controlled grid in place, he just needed to get access to it.]

That'd be the ideal if you've got the ingenuity, manpower, and time to build and maintain all of them. Not saying that is a big problem or even the only one; just haven't run into many other well-versed in engineers and mechanics around here.

[Hell that's why Rey became Nick's designated mechanic.]

My company is connected to every aspect of Domino, including the power grid.

Any improvements to this place require dependable electricity.

Won't lie, that does sound appealing. And the last few people who seemed to also know a single thing about this what they're doing ended up fucking off.

[She could very well pitch the idea as being just as beneficial to the gods as it is to them, giving Hope one less thing to waste his precious energy on. That way everyone wins.]

Lucky for you, I don't intend to spend a second longer relying on the 'gods' than I need to.

How soon can work begin?

[He's pleasantly surprised that his attempts at networking actually worked.]

[Amazing what you can accomplish by not being a total asshole to everyone, huh, Kaiba? Though Rey is pretty tolerant of those with a bad attitude more than some here might be.]

As soon as you're ready. Can take you to the dam leftovers maybe tomorrow to see what can be salvageable and made better.

[Still not worth it, most of the time.]

[Even if she was useful, he was reaching the end of his ability to be polite.]

[This definitely doesn't seem like a guy who has unlimited social graces. Not that Rey is, either, but she's managed to make it this far.]

Yup. Going to eat, drink, and be merry. Never know when you'll die. [Though she might not be a good definition of "merry" most of the time.

[Rey flashes a brief mock-salute with her glass and leaves Kaiba to his scowling. Have fun with that, kid.]
