You wake up on the 14th, and something is different. Maybe it's something small - you can't smell anything, or your hearing on one side seems to be on the fritz. Or it could be something large and impossible to miss - you've gone completely blind, or you seem to be missing a leg. You've lost something, and no matter what you do, you can't seem to fix it.
Will you ever get it back? Probably, but it's impossible to be sure. And even if you're thoroughly convinced that this is temporary, that still means you have to figure out how to live like this for the next week. Even small things can be huge difficulties. Your sense of taste doesn't seem that important, until you accidentally eat something that'll make you sick. And sure, maybe you can figure out how to live without one hand, but what about when you wake up three days from now and you've also lost your magic?
Do your best to keep yourself calm, but remember: it can always get worse.► This log covers May 14th-May 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your lost sense turns out to have been essential to your survival, please let us know here.

Even as he struggles to adjust to his newly, uh- grounding body, he's ready to give absolutely everything he has into this. For both of them.]
I- hm. Well, to start with-
[With little effort, eternally thankful that his magic hasn't left him despite all else going to shit, Kravitz casts a buff over the both of them. Taako should be able to feel the protective spell resting over him.]
I know you said- I know she won't hurt you- but now she'll struggle to cast anything on you, too. And I, uh. I'm a little more protected.
[He looks down at his Stupid Meatsack TM dubiously, still not convinced this thing is working the way it should be. Is his head meant to be hurting this much??? Gods, but his chest aches.
A heart is such a heavy burden.]
This... this is going to be difficult. I can't banish her, obviously, and we want to cause as little harm as possible, so wearing her down is out of the question.
[He says this like he doesn't need to even hear Taako say it, because he doesn't. He already feels sick about the possibility of hurting Lup, and it shows plain on his face.]
I think our best bet is you try to talk to her. Keep her calm. And I do have a little in the way of wards. An imprisonment spell, of sorts. If we caught her off guard...?
[His hands are shaking as he speaks. It could be the adrenaline he's entirely unused to, or the sheer volume of what they're about to do. Either or.]

(Lucretia would know what to do. something in his mind tells him, some part that he hates to acknowledge. If she was here, you'd have figured it out.
He pushes it to the side. Fuck her. He can do this.]
Look, I've seen her, like-- I mean I talked to her, kind of, before I saw you. She didn't hurt me. I can keep her, uh, chatty, and you can come in with the save, okay? Once we get her chillin' we can call Tranquility or something and get some chill juice in here and we'll all be fine.
[If he says it enough he'll believe it, right?
He has to. It's the only choice he has.
Taako reaches out without thinking and takes Kravitz' hand, oddly warm. It's less comforting than he wants it to be, the looming reminder that things are very, very wrong.]
We got it. Plan down, uh, stuff locked. We can do this.
no subject
Yes. Locked. Locked right in.
[If they think about this any harder, he's going to lose literally all of his surety, so Kravitz tries to kick himself into gear and start actually making this happen.]
Can you think of anywhere in particular she may show up? Then again, I suppose following her, er- footsteps shouldn't be too difficult.
[Follow the fire, right?]
no subject
No, she's-- runnin' all over.
[He uses his free hand to retrieve the Hole Thrower from his bag, keeping the magic slingshot close.]
I can follow her if she tries to run off, which she might, cuz she seemed like she was just-- gettin' away from me. But if she still knows who I am, she, she has to still be in there.
[Right on cue, a round of screams and a breaking crackle of red lightning shoots over the opening at the end of an alleyway to their right. And Kravitz, who maybe hasn't seen Taako put himself in any any willing danger, lets go of his hand and breaks into a dead sprint without a second of hesitation.]
Come on!

A familiar body, all flashing blue scales and a long tail, hits the ground and there's Lup, hovering right over it, red electricity cackling dangerously all around her, peeling off of her spectral form in frightening arcs. As Carey falls, the lich crumbles in on herself, hands curling at her unseen face beneath her heavy hood. She's trembling, shaking in and out of view, like she's a flickering lightbulb, before she throws back her head and unleashes a ghostly shriek, all of her pain and fury rolled into one haunting, ear-splitting noise.
But then her head jerks towards Taako as he comes into view, both hands dropping back to her side, the lich already slipping back, back, back, ready to make a hasty retreat.]
