You wake up on the 14th, and something is different. Maybe it's something small - you can't smell anything, or your hearing on one side seems to be on the fritz. Or it could be something large and impossible to miss - you've gone completely blind, or you seem to be missing a leg. You've lost something, and no matter what you do, you can't seem to fix it.
Will you ever get it back? Probably, but it's impossible to be sure. And even if you're thoroughly convinced that this is temporary, that still means you have to figure out how to live like this for the next week. Even small things can be huge difficulties. Your sense of taste doesn't seem that important, until you accidentally eat something that'll make you sick. And sure, maybe you can figure out how to live without one hand, but what about when you wake up three days from now and you've also lost your magic?
Do your best to keep yourself calm, but remember: it can always get worse.► This log covers May 14th-May 20th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If your lost sense turns out to have been essential to your survival, please let us know here.

Because that sums up her experience. She's far more interested in information, and in trying to understand who they are and how best to end their lives, than the little treats they seem to hand out as rewards for doing their bidding. Caedra is nobody's pet. She had given Rage a convincing suggestion, too, she had thought. Sorrow likely would be more useful, but Caedra does not look forward to that interaction. Rage is a feeling she knows and handles well - she too feeds off it, though in a less literal sense. Sorrow? No thank you.

"That's not always the case, and if you approach them with that attitude in mind, that's probably why you won't get very far with them. They take being blamed for all your problems just about as well as anyone else would," Rey says, her tone more flat than before. She can't blame the gods for their frustrations, given the situation they're in. "Some answers they've given to us already, so it's just a matter of asking around."
Namely people like Rey. Spend over two years living in this heap of a city, it's hard not to think of it as a place she's come to call home.

The main complication being that evidently these creatures, or at least that one, had no interest in sharing knowledge with each other. Everything Caedra had tried was shot down as 'Sorrow's problem'. And it was disappointing to see a being with the name of Rage so unenthusiastic about what Caedra could provide her. Truly, she had thought that one would be a little more opportunistic, or would show some courage, instead of hiding behind sarcasm and dismissal.

"And what exactly were you trying to offer?" Because knowing what she does about Caedra now thanks to Nick, Rey would take any help from her with a grain of salt, too.

Even the few here she finds tolerable have been left out of the loop on this one. They would only get in the way.

Rey can only imagine what sort of offer Caedra would make. And if it was to a point where someone like Rage, who accepts corpses for ammunition, then Rey can hazard a few assumptions.
But it's none of her business now, and she'll probably not care about it even if Fear's effects disappear soon. "If you're going to be one of those impatient types who wants so badly to find the Door and go home, you can save your breath trying to bargain with any of them. Not even Hope or Delight were able to figure it out, and Delight actually had reason to want us all to fuck off."
It would have been easier for her to hand what was left of her family to the Null if Fear lacked the power from hosts to move the city.

"Of course I want to head home. I want that more than I want all of you here to die miserable agonizing deaths. What do you think I ought to do, sit here and play house and wait for someone else to find the solutions? That's not how I get things done." That's not how anything ever gets done. The black ichor that pumps through her form drives her to act, to try anything that might help her get what she wants. Not to sit and wait and waste time.

Everyone leaves eventually, it seems. Rey has seen enough people do just that to the point where she wonders if it's worth trying to connect with anyone when they could disappear the next day. But she can't.
And despite herself, she almost sounds a little like her usual, spiteful self on the matter.

And if she can accomplish that and drag everyone else into a fiery death at the same time, all the better. But the fact that she has been stolen away from the man she loves and robbed of the sort of destruction she is made for gives her so little else to do here. If these mortals would just die and stay dead, and if she had the freedom to come and go and do as she pleased, then of course she would gladly stick around for the joy of the sheer destruction she could cause here. As she can't, as she is a prisoner here and has been robbed a few too many times of parts of her she considers integral to her very being, she wants out. Now, more than ever.

"Go on, then. If you're so smart and powerful that you think you'll be the one to figure it all out, just fuck off. Would rather be alone until this shit wears off, anyway."
People sure do act weird when they find out you're acting like you don't have a soul.

Instead, the construct's words continue to stoke her rage. But without her sword, she can't smite, and she has learned enough by now to know most of her other means of dealing massive quantities of pain at once are also gone.
Fine, then. There's nothing more to say, and nothing that can be done that will bring her satisfaction. She almost doesn't want to leave, just to spite Rey, but Caedra doesn't have the patience to sit through any more of this either. So she brings her hand to her brooch, focuses on the mental image of the living room in the home she has claimed, speaks a short command, and vanishes abruptly.
