Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Delmar nods in perhaps a bit too dramatic a fashion, not relinquishing his grip on Jet's arm as he has now made it his mission to make sure Jet has a nice beach walk.

"Yes. And you can look at the horizon. That is very important." He gestures with his book-holding hand towards the open ocean. "You see people can get some of their best thoughts when they look at the ocean....and sometimes if you look out there long enough things seem...well...better. It seems like you can get through the day."

Ohh. So it's only the individual planets that make up the center. And because they just can't get how huge everything is and their brains turn into scrambled eggs because of it?

Fuck only knows what kinds of boats the gods will give us, but I'd be willing to bet it's nothing with a motor. That would be making our lives way too easy.

Maybe. After all, the god who told us about these places we could go said that the Null probably wouldn't check this world. Too much water. And I get what he meant by that.

I will. With any luck, the boats will come fast. Which probably means that we're stuck where we're at for the next few weeks.

Two of the spires, most of the houses, the Colosseum, the science lab, and the Clinic. So I'm actually in good shape. I might even be the one with the most medical experience on the island, if you can believe that. [she can't]

[she can hear the panic in his voice and it worries her greatly. so she pitches her voice as soothingly as possible]

I'm on one of the islands, the one with the Sewing Shop on it. I'd gotten up early to get a little work done and found myself stranded. I've done some looking and while we do have the Armory, the Park, and the Guard Headquarters, my home is not on this island.

I'm grateful that you weren't stranded elsewhere away from your home.

[When he has ascertained fully that she is in fact there, he retracts his hand, bringing it up to knot with the fingers of his other hand worriedly]

I can't find the bakery...I don't know where everyone is....everything has changed....

[He chews his lower lip nervously as she talks, trying to focus on the details of what she's saying]

Is there any way for you to get home? What are you going to do for food??

We've no boats. None that I've seen, at least. About that. . . we do have a shop here. It has little in the way of food, but I should be able to manage if I'm not too greedy.

My family and a large part of our clan, the Noldor, crossed the frozen strait between two continents, Aman and Middle-earth. I'll tell you that story sometime, but the short version is that my father and brothers and I and our followers took the ships across the sea, dodging icebergs, sometimes having to cut our way through rafts of ice floes, and weathering a few storms. The waves were immense when the wind was really blowing. We already knew about cold, turbulent seas because our home in Aman was fairly far north, but up by the strait? -- well, that was an education in seafaring under extreme conditions!

[ He wonders if Maglor has told her any of that story. If he has, then it is to her credit as a compassionate person that she still cares for them. ]

I messaged Jon and Daenerys not long ago and spoke with both of them through their inboxes. I also met Daenerys in person, during that horrible event in which so many people lost senses, body parts, or other necessary faculties.

It would be lovely to have that party, though. I'll bet Sansa would go for that. I'd like to meet Jon in person and Daenerys now that she has her memory back. Yes, with luck, everybody else was home and are now safe on South Island.

They must have very skilled architects and builders, then! It takes very careful planning to keep from making a structure that collapses, when the heights are very great. And those people who live in the apartments, they must be used to running up stairs! [ He chuckles. ]

The gods can kiss my fine Elvish ass! They managed to briefly remove my ability to keep another out of my visions. And. . . someone got it. I kicked her out, but not before things became very unpleasant.

[Elena's not so far away when she hears the cacophony, and isn't remotely surprised when she sees the elf responsible. Judging by the sound of destruction, it was one in three odds whether it was caused by Taako, his sister or her husband.

It's a decent carving. Elena used to live on the coast. She grins.]

It seems as though you'll get to put those lessons into practice once more. Those waters do not look calm or inviting.

Oh, good! I'm so glad to hear it. Though, I'm sorry you had to meet Daenerys under such poor circumstances.

Let us hope so. It would be cruelty if we were scattered amongst the islands.

[Elena was out and exploring as soon as she possibly could be. She stands close to the cliff's edge, panning with the video camera that arrived for her not long ago. If she looks like she's filming for some kind of nature documentary, well, it's probably because she used to do something a lot like that, and the urge to capture remarkable sights hasn't faded just because she switched to legitimate journalism. She looks back over her shoulder at him and grins.]

Right? Check out the view. Just watch your footing.

Continuous activity and lack of sleep, yes, that's life on North Island. Sorry about the terrible coffee, Ignis! XD

Curufin and Ignis seem to be on different schedules, since they haven't run into each other until now. But of course, there is so much to do, and so few people to do it, and they are all running themselves ragged. Curufin looks up from his drawing and sets his own cup of bad coffee on the desk.

"Ignis," he responds. "I'm very busy but doing well. The boat is progressing and I expect to have it in the water soon. Margaery Tyrell is sewing the sail, and she's volunteered to crew the boat with me on the first run. How are you doing? I'll bet Kate's going to be pleased with the clinic space here." He hasn't actually taken a look yet, but considering how thorough Ignis is about everything he does, it'll probably be flawless.

He asks, not up yet on the most imaginative local jargon.

"Are there other magic users specifically committed to the break-out effort? I'd like to help, and that's probably where I could accomplish the most."
