Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Same old same old. My routine hasn't suffered for the division of the city.

Law hasn't really offered anyone a ride, yet, but by now surely others have seen him popping between the eastern and west-central islands. If Rey really needed to get off this one, he'd be glad to shift her across that narrow strait between the two islands. She gets his nice side.

Underwater. For a flash of a moment there's trepidation on Law's face (it's entirely the swimming problem) but then it's replaced by a keen sense of interest, almost thrill. "If it's underwater," he says cautiously, "we'll need a submarine. Shame I can't build one, but I can captain one."

It would mean not having to make weeks-long journeys out to see (aww) but on the other hand, where the hell are they going to get a submarine?

In truth, the only reason Sonya voted for the island was because, as far as she could tell, it was the lesser of the tree evils. The snowy world might've been secure, but she wouldn't trust the gods to provide adequate clothing as well as food for their survival; the jungle may've provided means of finding food and shelter, but structurally, they all had enough to deal with besides flooding and weak shelters. The islands might be rough without boats, but she felt safer in the stone structures than she would in the snow or wood.

She was just glad there was an empty room in Spire 3 she could camp out in. She'd share it of course, but she would still take advantage since her own 'home' was on another island.

Along with guard duty (what she could manage), she spent most of her time constructing and watching traps. So far, they've kept a good supply of food rationed, but she agreed with Curufin that for the moment, it was better to be prepared. The latest trap she'd set had managed to catch a large..what she could almost call a hybrid between a reptile and fish, if that was even possible.

That didn't stop her from dispatching and quickly skinning it for its meat.

June 7th; guards HQ/training ground: closed to Margery Tyrell

With Margery on the same island as her, and the training ground along with them, Sonya saw no reason why they couldn't continue their lessons, if for no other reason then to form a kind of stability within this realm. Since April and having them several times a week, she'd been able to move from simple punches and kicks, to body throws and grappling, to free one's self as well as engage. That Margery was a quick study also helped move things along.

The coast line ensured the weather was cooler than was in their last setting, so starting so early in the morning wasn't a necessity-yet she kept at it just for habit. With so much going on, unless there was an emergency, they kept at the same schedule.

Once Margery arrived, they went through the usual warm ups of a few easy punches and kicks, just to warm up the muscles and get the heart beating.

As do I. Westeros has been in utter chaos since the death of Eddard Stark. No one can bring back who was lost--unless they come here--but at least the dead will be able to rest in peace once Daenerys takes the throne.

It would be ideal which is exactly why the so-called gods won't see fit to provide it to us. I'll try my luck with bedding. Perhaps we'll be more fortunate there.

This city brings in some of the oddest people.

A "bit" rude? I'd say it's really rude. I'd hate it if someone fucked with my mind like that. But disconcerting is good?

I lost the entire foot. It sucked.

Imaginary money? No, she doesn't really care anyway, but that is definitely one of the more absurd statements she's heard in a while. What's the point of the money, then?

But he seems eager to continue on, and she isn't interested in banking systems anyway so that all works out just fine.

"They might at first, but when it holds up to inspection they might realize you have something special. Or, bring home magic that can't be faked. If world domination is your goal, they won't laugh when you blow up a few heads, will they?"

June 7th

[Margaery has always believed that if you're going to do something, you should do it right. granted, she still thinks of this as acceptable workout wear, but she still gives training everything she has.

the cooler weather gives her pause. she'd gotten used to the heat of the desert and both King's Landing and Highgarden had been warm.

she's getting more confident in what she's doing. she's hopeful that this will make her less of a target for creatures like the demon]

It's also a much more faith centered community. Not that there isn't conflict- there is. But people have a system of beliefs and you see more signs of it everywhere. I like America's diversity and intellectual anarchy, but calming it is not.

Do people pray to these gods here?

But everything that exists has a life of it's own, of a sort. And in my world, in the waters can still be heard the echo of the First Song, the Great Music which upholds the world. My folk are just... a little more in tune with it, that's all.

[seeing as the fishing pole is just a prop to keep his hands full at the moment, Law reels it in and sets it aside, moving to find a seat on one of the rocks.]

Interesting. But still weird. [that said...] It reminds me of various martial arts theories, about feeling the breath of all things.

But Finrod might have described it more as... we know how to talk to the world, to get it to answer us back.

At first Rey starts to ask if Law has some Navy experience, but then she remembers.

Yeah, right. Pirate. Of course he has some experience with traveling across large bodies of water. But now she's curious about something else.

"You have experience with actual submarines?" She almost sounds impressed. "Who knows, it might be on the agenda soon, since it's not like Tranquility's mopeds are going to be much use here. Subs would be a step up, anyway."

Everything isn't so far apart anymore on the islands themselves, and Tranquility has provided them with means of faster transportation in order to retrieve Hope's orbs.

"Yeah we should. Considering we're both in the water though, there's a high probability that more will come." Komaeda is absolutely certain of this. His luck talent has caused all sorts of nonsense and it has made him sometimes massively paranoid and negative because of that. "Don't get me wrong. I am really grateful that you've saved me but we should probably split up. You're less likely to be in danger that way."

The coffee here has always been terrible, and it's only got worse since Delight's betrayal. At least she was providing some coffee that was passable.

"Mm. I hope so." Ignis has never run a clinic of any kind, but like most things, he's picking it up easily enough as he goes along. At the moment, without sort of emergency, it's mostly a matter of inventory and keeping everything in order. Keeping things in order is certainly something that he can do.

He taps his fingers against the top of the nearest desk, as if at a loss for what to do and mentally searching for the next task.

"Does Margery have experience sailing?"

[ It's a shitty turn of events, this whole separation thing -- especially when it comes with no warning, but Noctis makes the best of it because that's the only thing he can do. He's found himself a makeshift place to stay in until it's over, and today's the day he finds himself starting to explore the island.

It's the hot springs that call to him, but it's not until he's found himself just paces away when he realizes he's not alone. ]
