Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

Kelson shrugged and gazed off into the water. "I'm going to scout the island. See if I can find a source for water. If you scout the other half we can get done faster."

"Sure." It wasn't a bad idea at all and she stood up, ineffectually brushing at some of the dirt on her wet jeans. Oh well. It was just clothes.

"Call me if you find anything interesting." And off she went.

[she shakes her head] The council wasn't strong. What they were was utterly in Cersei's thrall and Tommen loved his mother too much to ever think ill of her. And kings drugged senseless in order to keep them compliant? How disgusting.

So far as I know, he still lives.

She's back to the offensive only a moment after she gets on her feet, only giving her time to make sure she won't entirely be on surprise. At some point, Sonya planned on 'not' waiting for her to be ready, but that would be when she's a little more advanced.

Not that Margery wasn't improving. Sonya's eye caught her the way she moved and tried to jump out of the way of her feet, but she's off by a split second and stumbles. Not to waste movement, she grabs the woman's arm and flips the two of them over, landing in a way to trap her in an arm lock.

"See if you could free yourself."

The shore, I think! We could have a campfire, and so long as we are high enough up, the sands are quite comfortable to sleep on. Although the orchard has a ready supply of food available to recommend it!

Funny. Nick Valentine also seemed inclined to be indebted to her goodwill. It isn't something Ravine is used to hearing, but she shakes her head.

"And do not worry about that. It is not like you knew you would be marooned on separate islands on this planet." Even if Alphys did vote for it. But then, so did Ravine.

Whether you risk stripping the forest depends on just how large you want to make the ship!

You're speaking of a round-bottomed vessel with two square-rigged masts, with a gaff-rigged fore-and-aft sail attached to the mainmast as well, and perhaps a couple of trysails rigged to the foremast? This type of ship was not known in Middle-earth in my time, but they were built in a later era. I know this because after I died, I was whisked away into a sort of facsimile world, my world but later. There was a dilapidated harbor with various types of ships, all of which needed repairing. I and some companions made a journey there to look the ships over and begin work on at least one of them.

They sail differently than the boats I was familiar with, but the principles are the same. It just takes some experience.

Clearly. [ Chuckle ] Although as you know, my dear wife Sulriel was a weaver like our grandmother. Who knows what yarns and fabrics she might have chewed on in her childhood when she was a baby weaver!

[She gives a little chuckle, reaching over her head and smoothing down her spines like someone might put a hand through their hair.]

I always thought it would be k-kind of exciting, you know? Like a show, where, I'd end up somewhere else and become the protagonist and s-save the world. But it's, uh... it's harder to live it. This wasn't the adventure I thought, I guess.

[Could have been the one she needed, though.]

I guess it must be hard for anime characters to be so happy all the t-time on their journey, too. But it's easier when you know the ending.

Oh yeah. I mean, I think we're all trained up, but a bunch of the other scrubs will just have to learn.

Ugh god, I forgot this you missed Candlenights last year. He made everybody fuckin' sand sculptures that was, uh, pure fucking ridiculous shit.

[He pulls out his phone and scrolls to the photo, which he now uses primarily for reaction images.]

Really upped his game. At least we took all the sand now.

I pray your world knows the peace it so rightously deserves, one day. Even if you never get to see it.

[He snickers, crossing his arms in satisfaction.]

Weeeeell, maybe. Once I get some runs in. And if you have anything fun to give me in exchange, huh? This was hard work. I can't just loan out my stuff for nothin'.

And that way, we could let the waves lull us to sleep. You'd have to light the campfire, though. I never learned how to do it. Or you could teach me how to do it?

She finds her arm trapped in a lock and her back on the ground. this is something that hasn't happened before and she's not sure how to free herself. She tries twisting her arm, but that only tightens Sonya's hold. So she acts as though she's going to punch Sonya's shoulder with her other arm, hoping that distracts her enough to break the arm hold.

...I guess so? We haven't really had the chance to get into the more hardcore magic yet.

I never will. I'll be elsewhere. Highgarden will go to whomever wins the spoils of war and the Tyrell name will fade from memory.

[The words are said dryly, but Leo actually is paying attention. For so long, he's done nothing but what he thought he was supposed to do. Very rarely did he ever do what he wanted to. Now that he was here in Hadriel, maybe it was time to start giving into his vices a little bit more.]

And who is this ubiquitous 'they' that you keep mentioning?

"That sounds similar. But Sunai take the souls of the wicked rather than the good. We're judge, jury, and executioner all in one." Leo sounds very proud of what he is. He sees his role as a good and righteous thing, for it makes the world a better place by taking sinners out of it. He never had the moral compunctions about killing like his little brother August did.

He looks grim as he explains about the other two types of monsters. "Corsai and Malchai are mainly around to cause more misery for humanity. Corsai are the most common monsters. They're living shadows with teeth and claws that are created from violent sins. Malchai are sadistic killers and get created from murder. They're basically vampires: pale, red-eyed with sharp teeth, and they drink blood."

Leo seems to warm up towards Curufin visibly when he says he's a musician. He always likes finding someone who can appreciate music as much as he does. "It's a particular song that I play. My brother only play it using a violin and my sister with her voice, but I can use any instrument to create it." They'd speculated over the years why Leo broke the rule the other two seemed to follow, but none of the Sunai had an answer. He doesn't reply and looks off to the side when Curufin mentions family. It's always been Leo's biggest weak spot and it's hard for him to admit he compromises when it comes to the people he cares about.

It was already pretty damn pleasant but he doesn't object to the company, either. Delmar is about as unintimidating as they come, and it's kind of difficult to not want to be around someone who taught you how to make chocolate cake.

"Talking from somewhere deep, hm?" he says, a little softly, catching a meaning to the words that perhaps Delmar did not intend, and yet...

Jet does understand needing something to just get you through the day.

Ignis does at least agree wholeheartedly that they should involve the 'gods' here as little as possible. Owing them in any way isn't something that he intends on getting himself wrapped up in, particularly when it comes to something they can do without.

"We disagreed on the measure of value he gives to the lives of the people who aren't his friends and family," Ignis replies with the soft, tense edge of someone who would rather not be discussing a topic. Did it damage his opinion of Maglor, and how highly he regarded him as a friend? Most assuredly. He hasn't spoken to the elf since.

"I'd prefer to focus my attention on more practical matters," Ignis says then, moving across the room to sift through a desk for some blank paper. "If we're to build docks for regular use, they should be planned, not thrown together."

[He doesn't take offence to the way she tenses under his arm. It's how Kate is, and if she didn't want to be there she most assuredly would not be. Sometimes, it's just a matter of time and waiting for her to convince herself that it's alright to relax into the position she's found herself in.

Ignis doesn't want to fight with her. He doesn't want to fight with her over this, in particular, when it can be such a tender subject for them both for different reasons. In the end, they fight because they care about one another, and are sometimes simply terrible at showing it sometimes.]

Thank you. [Quiet, the words are almost snatched away by the wind when they're murmured softly next to her temple. Fighting might be easier, but not fighting is surely better.]
