Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

[Caedra, by nature, despises those who have anything to do with the guard. Their whole role in the city, as far as she can determine, is to prevent her and those like her from doing what they do best. It makes it awfully hard to have any fun around here.

But they have their uses. They do seem to generally know what's going on around the place. And this one - this woman, who seems to be about to head up to her post, isn't one she recognizes. Good, that makes it easier. She probably knows something vague about Caedra, they probably have some sort of watchlist, but at least there's no personal history to cloud her judgment when all she wants is to ask a simple question.]

Hey. Do you know if anyone here has a boat?

[It's a long shot but why not.]

( Well, Serah hasn't been in the guard's rotation all that long, really. There's still plenty of things she needs to know about. But, more importantly, part of her duties are to help the people of the city.

And if what the need is information, that's what she'll provide. Even if the answer isn't quite as affirmative as she'd like it to be. )

I'm sorry, I haven't seen one. ( On the seas or on the island. Makes you wonder why the gods didn't prepare for that in advance, doesn't it? ) Are you trying to find someone?

( That seems to be the case so far, people looking for others they've lost on different islands. )

[Right, humans and their kin do that weird thing where they apologize if they don't know something. It's been a while since she ran into that detestable custom.

Is she looking for someone? Maybe. She hadn't intended to, but come to think of it...]

Well, no, but I may as well ask, since you have brought it up. Have you or anyone seen Ivar lately? You know, in that wheeled chair of his.

( It's just polite, isn't it? Serah thinks so, anyway.

But there's someone missing? She doesn't recognise the name or description, but she wants to try and help. )

No. Maybe he's on another island?

( The most hopeful thought first. )

Possibly.

[Although it's been longer than that since she last heard from him - but she hasn't really tried hard to keep up with the boy, either, content as she usually is to let people do their own thing and come to her if they wish to.

Caedra studies the girl a moment longer, though.]

I don't recall seeing you associated with the guard before. Are you new?

[She does try to pay attention.]

( There's other options, but the woman changes the topic before Serah can broach them, and instead she smiles, pushing her ponytail back over her shoulder. )

Yeah. ( Exactly that. ) I don't think we've met. My name's Serah, and you're...?

Caedra.

[The girl might not know her on sight, but she likely has heard the name. If not? Well. The guard is less organized than she had thought. Which can only mean good things for her.]

In any case, it sounds like there isn't much you can do for me.

( Oh, she does. For reasons that don't just relate to the guard, and the flicker of emotion that passes over Serah's face wipes the smile away.

There'd been something familiar about her, but the name slots it all together. Things that Rita had said, about dying here... )

You're the one--

( Her hand curls into a loose fist, as though trying to grasp a weapon she doesn't currently have on hand. )

[Ahh, there we are. That's more like what she had expected. She's proud of the reaction her name brings, of course. Can't help but smile at that. It's not a particularly friendly expression.]

That's right. And you are evidently useless, unless you have anything that can demonstrate otherwise.

[Well, useless in terms of answering her questions, but sometimes challenging someone to produce something anyway can yield amusing results. If not? She has other people she can ask.]

( Well, that's unnerving. And while the words strike Serah like a slap, she doesn't show it, staring at Caedra with an expression caught in her own reeling thoughts. So this is the woman...

And, as much as there is anger in her gut - because Rita's her friend and someone Serah believes in and wants to help - she won't give into it. Lightning was always better at confrontation. Serah? She's better at biding her time. Finding another way. )

( It's said with as much kindness as one can put into speaking to the person who killed your roommate. )
