Event Log: The Beach Episode
Who: Everyone!

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.

nice
Curufin leaves the temples off his list for the same reason as Sonya does.
"I'm going to build a couple of boats. I've already marked out the trees I'm going to cut, the location for the work, and I have plans. Henry has asked me to focus on this project. But of course I'm available for whatever I'm needed for. Especially if any of the tunnel creatures have managed to come with us. We all had better be watching out for those."
Re: nice
Or if there's anyone unwilling to share their quarters. She was well aware there were people just that unwilling to help out. "So patrol duty will have to take place along with organizing shelters and building boats or rafts."
Rafts would be simpler to construct, but to look at the sea, she wasn't certain the water would be calm enough for rafts. "Least the food stores could be preserved."

"Hmm. Maybe put out a network call for people who are willing to take in a guest or two? And yes, there's going to be a lot of work to do, and just the few of us to do it, unless some of the others on this island are willing to pitch in."
The sea is rather turbulent around and between the islands. But possibly a skilled rafter could manage it.
"Yes, good thing we have those food caches and the food in the stores. We'll still have to hustle in order to keep eating once the caches are used up. No telling how long it will be before Hope makes more food appear in the stores."

The entire conversation, Sonya kept an eye on him as well as the papers he was reading and writing on. "I've scouted some of the area before, and I could make some crab and fish netting to set aside. Again though, someone needs to keep watch to make sure they're not lost to sea."
no subject
"If you have net-making skills, that is wonderful. So much more efficient than catching fish one at a time. It would be good to have crab to eat, too! Maybe there is someone on the island who would want to take over being the watcher. If they're willing but not knowledgeable, maybe you could teach them?"
He gave his sketch another look and decided it was good enough for the moment.
"Can you think of anything else we should be considering?"

Thank whatever gods listening that she had several knives on her, such as would make the task easier. The cages and lures wouldn't be especially that strong, but it only pressed on the need to involve others in learning how to maintain them.
"Medical? I don't know about everyone on this place, and we've been lucky thus far with the clinic-to my knowledge, but I'd rather not put things to chance. All islands need to find a place where people with any medical or first-aid training could be contacted."
no subject
"I'd love to see how you make a net, too, and any other equipment you know of for catching sea creatures." The more crafts they have as a group, the better!
"I think that Kate Galloway, Henry and Nick have agreed on using Guard HQ for a clinic space. They did set up an area for that here in HQ, shortly after we rebuilt the two centers close to one another." He glanced around and jerked a thumb in the direction of the door behind which was that very area. He hadn't actually checked it out yet, having had other things to do.
