The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.
The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.
And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.

"Doesn't help anyone else, and there's no telling just what's living in the water around here. I hear there's fish, but on a planet with this much water, I'd bet there's a lot more than that out there."
He taps his pen on the ocean on his makeshift map, his mind still on the thought of those who might try to brave the waters. It'd take someone real foolhardy to try it, but no one has ever said the people in Hadriel were good at exercising caution.

"That's true. Bet you I could wrestle whatever eldritch sea serpent this place throws at us, though. The sharks already learned not to fuck with me the hard way."
On a planet that's mostly water, one can only imagine what sort of deep-sea horrors are waiting down there. Rey would be lying if she said she wasn't remotely curious about it, much to her dad's inevitable chagrin. Sorry, Nick.

"Our main problem is gonna be the Door when it opens up," he notes, tapping the Colosseum on his papers. "Unless it starts bringing in creatures that can swim, we'll have to take care of all of them. No caves to chase them into."
Or desert, or tundra, or even jungle. It's one of those problems he doubts most people thought of when voting for their new home. It seems the one thing most folks managed to agree on was that Love ought to be last in line for revival.

"Could always just throw them off the island, see how well those fuckers can swim." And then another thought forms. "Wonder how deep the ocean goes, or if there's anything under that got waterlogged."
Somehow she doubts that the planet was always this flooded.

He keeps thoughts like that to himself, though; he wouldn't want to give Rey any ideas.
no subject
It's a tempting notion, anyway. One that Rey can't help but entertain a little, if not just imagine it.
"With any luck, something edible will show up in the Colosseum, and that'll take care of that."

"Knock on wood. It's gonna be hard for some folks to get food, given the split. We've got the Speakeasy, east has the orchard. Wherever the stores ended up should be all right."
He sighs. He prefers detective work to cartography.
no subject
"And even then, the Speakeasy needs to be stocked manually. The gods don't do shit for me here."
Which was the point. Rey wanted to run this place self-sufficiently, no exceptions.

"Speaking of the gods, we might have to ask about a bridge or two. Maybe bring it up with Tranquility."
no subject
"Mn, was thinking of contacting him with something along those lines. No doubt they'll probably complain that we can't all just swim or grow wings and fly between islands."
Confusion seems more partial to complaints while Tranquility has expressed a less than caring attitude more often than not. She hates talking to them about anything, really.

He doesn't doubt for one second the gods wouldn't pull a crazy stunt like that. It sounds right up Confusion's alley -- maybe Fear's, too. Delight would have had a field day with a suggestion like that.
"Curufin is working on boats," he continues, "but some of us would prefer to keep our feet on solid ground. A heavy hunk of metal like me and deep water don't exactly mix."
no subject
Got to have that old 'bot aesthetic, you know. Nick just wouldn't be Nick without it.
Her brow then creases.
"Mn, right. Don't suppose you know how to swim?" Not that that would matter, considering he's got exposed wirings all over.
