Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

[ You can see the sail tilting a little as the waves shove at the boat. It is anchored in the shallows of North Island, and Curufin is stowing some gear in it. He's making calls to see who is where. ]

Kelson? How are you doing, and where are you?

Curufin? I'm on the west island. I'm doing well, if a little confined. I've never seen a ship quite like that before. Are they from your home?

Good! I'm glad to know you're all right. An island is a little confining, isn't it? Yes, this is the style of ship that we Elves build. My relatives and I weren't specifically trained as shipbuilders, but we had distant cousins who were, in the Telerin clan. I used to spend time with them, trading jewels I had made for information about boatbuilding. They took me out in their ships and taught me navigation. I used that knowledge to construct a few boats of this size and smaller.

[ The story becomes a lot grimmer after that, but Curufin won't tell it at the moment. It's not relevant. ]

[Kelson would have congratulated him had he known the tale was indeed darker. Curufin did a good job at making it seem innocuous]

Well you certainly put your knowledge to good use here. I'm sure everyone is quite grateful for all your hard work, I know I am.

[ Ah yes, the gentle art of making a family story seem innocuous! Curufin is used to making a judgement call at any given moment, whether to include the darker aspects of his past in the story or not. He isn't averse to telling the whole story, especially not to Kelson, whom he trusts. He just doesn't choose to do so at this moment. ]

Do you need a ride to any of the other islands, by the way?

I would very much so yes. It is getting rather cooped up here. Perhaps you would be so kind?

I would be happy to come and get you! It shouldn't take us long to sail around to your shore. We'll be there later today or early tomorrow.

Thank you Curufin. Would it be helpful in the future to build some sort of docks on each island?

It would be very helpful. I don't mind jumping out of the boat and splashing through the shallow water, but it would be very nice if our passengers didn't have to do that. Docks would be very good.

Who here has expertise with wood work then? Do you know? You have been here far longer than I have.

I've always done my own carpentry, so I haven't had much occasion to ask. But I can check my phone archives and see who else worked on some joint projects that I was involved in. And just off the top of my head, Seel har Parasiel worked on the Firehouse with me and on some other construction as well.

Splendid. I'm sure this would go faster with more than one or two individuals. Perhaps you could reach out to this Seel har Parasiel and the others in your archives?

I certainly could contact those people! It would be good to have structures for embarking and disembarking -- one problem out of the way!
