Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

...I. Um. Well, bras. They kind of hold a woman's breasts in place. And panties go over the rear end and--and other stuff. And boxers and briefs also go over the rear end and. Stuff.

[It took Kelson a few seconds to put that all together. Finally comprehension drew onto his face. He completely didn't understand the point of a bra, but the others....]

So they're like braies or smallclothes. Do you wear them all the time?

[Really Kelson had no problem with nudity, it was just nudity of the opposite sex. He was concerned for your virtue, Laura!]

Yeah. Unless you're in your nightclothes, then you don't bother.

[Luckily for women in Gwynedd, most didn't wear them. Not his kind of medieval torture device. Kelson cocked his head, thinking. He didn't see the point in wearing something like braies all the time. But, maybe it was different where she was from?]

What's the point?

[Hey, thirteen was almost legal age in Gwynedd! So close!]

What's the point in. . . wearing underwear?

Yes. I know women wear them....during their time. But why wear something like that every day?

I dunno, actually. People just do it. [she thinks a moment] I guess if you didn't wear 'em, asshole guys would try flipping up your skirt and see what you've got? But they do shit like that, anyway.

Well, yes. Rather unhonorable men do try that, but I can't see what some extra cloth would do?

I don't know? Keep them from seeing your whole crotch? Supposedly it's more hygenic, too.

[He guessed she was probably right, at least maybe for people who didn't have entire wardrobes of clothing to choose from and didn't have to wear something twice before washing it. ]

{Kelson still wasn't entirely sure of the point but, okay Laura. sure.]

Definitely. Oh, and bras! Bras are really important. Try to run without one, you're gonna hurt yourself.

[Well, BOB was a lot like Jehana, Kelson advocated not listening to both of them. It was usually just abusive.]

No, no, not me. I'm much more of a lady of leisure. Though, I have been practicing with a bow and arrows lately. Turns out I remember stuff from gym class after all.

I hope you're not planning on using a bow and arrow on anything, or anyone?

[He wasn't sure what gym class was but if she was 'remembering' things, she might not be good enough not to put her own life in danger. And of course, she was a woman.]

I might be. Caedra, if she kills anyone again. I heard that the gods fucked with her powers, I might be able to stick an arrow between her eyes now.

[she's also been taking herself to the orchard, practicing hitting smaller and smaller targets. she'll need to find a new practice zone now that the orchard is inaccessible, but she'll manage]

[Kelson didn't disagree that men could not be everywhere and could not often protect the women they were supposed to, but that didn't mean women should take up arms.]

If I were you, I would be very careful going up against someone like Caedra, even if her powers were tampered with. I speak from experience, Laura. Not with Caedra, but someone like her. Make sure you're ready. Or you will die.

I won't die.

[she says with utter confidence]

Everyone dies. Be careful. And if you can, hide. Or get back up.

[Laura smiles and he'll be able to hear it through the call]

Well. I might have a little secret weapon. A ring. It kept BOB from possessing me or killing me himself and it kept Caedra from killing me when we first met.

I hope it keeps on protecting you then. Is it some kind of holy relic? How does it work?

I honestly have no idea how it works. It was kind of thrown at me in the boxcar where BOB had taken me. I saw it earlier than that, though. Some guy wearing it cornered me and my dad on the road right before I died. He kept yelling at us, but I couldn't tell what he was saying 'cause my dad was revving the engine too loud. Now that I think about it, he was probably trying to tell me that BOB was my father.
