Event Log: The Beach Episode

Who: Everyone!
What: The event log for the transition to our new planet!
Where: The city, which has now been fragmented onto four separate islands.
When: May 27th-June 10th
Warnings: Surf's up! If by 'surf', you mean separation from your friends, weird sea creatures, and cold rainfall.

The sun and the sand and a drink in your hand- well, it all sounded pretty nice when you voted for the island planet, but ultimately what you're getting is a bit less glamorous.

The transition takes place instantaneously, with very little noteworthy shakeup, though those of you who are particularly in-tune with the supernatural may feel a bit dizzied or nauseated by the sudden movement. And that's exactly what it is: for those of you who are outside, the change is fairly noticeable, as in the span of a single blink, what used to be miles of desert is now rocky ocean. The city is simply in one place one moment, and then somewhere entirely new a second later.

And that somewhere new is exciting! The islands have plenty of landscape to explore and weather conditions to adjust to, fish to catch, and- wait, how do you get to the other islands? What if your friends or your home or the bar is on these other islands? Enjoy having to figure out who is where and how you're going to get by with only a small fraction of the city to work off of- hopefully those boats will come sooner rather than later...

► This log covers May 27th-June 10th.

"Wait, wait, WAIT!" Seth objected and pulled to make him stop.

He'd noticed Leo sinking further than his steps in the wet sand. "Least let me see if I can carry you. There's no point comin' out here and not testin' out a few things! Just get on my back. If I can't swim with you on it, you can always step on me to get out of the water. We won't go more than chest deep. Come on, Buddy."

It wasn't some morbid curiosity or half effort urging that Seth gave. There was real concern, refusing to give up--genuinely invested in the results of what he proposed. He refused to give up on Leo. What if the islands went completely under water? Or if they were on a boat and it capsized? Seth needed to know the kid could be saved.

"It'll be the last thing we try today, I promise."

If it was possible, Leo managed to tense up even more when Seth tried to make him stop. "Carry me?" That got an eyebrow raise out of Leo. "Do you realize I probably weigh as much as a statue made of metal, right?" Frankly, he wasn't sure exactly how much he weighed, there had never been an accurate scale that they could find that wouldn't break first. But he knew it was a lot more than a human being. Such was the price for invulnerability.

He was getting back into his usual stubborn mindset. "I am done here." Nothing Seth said was going to make him go out further. He was already far enough out of his comfort zone, thank you very much.

It shouldn't have been any surprise that Leo doubted him, regardless of how determined Seth was to prove the young monster wrong.

"Fine! Run back with your tail between your legs! Don't even bother to see if anyone can help you, or think about what it'll do to me and Margo if water comes up and we haven't figured out shit about how t'save you!" he barked back.

Leo went in one direction, Seth faced the other. He refused to watch his surrogate brother quit. It shouldn't have stung the way it did. He was used to being quit on, even by flesh and blood. Seth folded his arms over his chest and looked out over the water.
