Well, here you are. You've awoken on the ground of a large colosseum, with a cloudy sky above you - oh, and it might be sprinkling a little. It sure seems to drizzle a lot here, though it might take you a few days to figure that out. After the days it'll take you to get adjust to being in another world at all, of course. Welcome to Hadriel!
Feel free to walk around the colosseum a bit to try and get your bearings, but try not to trip over any rocks. They, uh, aren't rocks. This month, the Door has pulled in Lava Crabs and Rock Crabs. These confusing little things look just like rocks when they're in their shells, and they're content to stay that way... until you get close, and they come rushing out at you with their claws out, all ready to snip snip snip. Their hard shells make it difficult to hurt them, though you could always try to knock it off their back - or flip them over and attack their tender underbelly.
That's not the only thing you might trip over, either. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of super cool and fashionable umbrellas. So if that drizzling rain is starting to annoy you, grab one of those and you'll be dry as dust in no time!
Once you think things are safe, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers June 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
city
[After months spent trapped in a desert, Lup's been enjoying the feel of their new home, the moisture in the breeze, the salt in the air that hits her tongue, the lulling sound of waves crashing through the night that drag her to sleep. It's a comfort she never even knew she needed, not when the elf spent her childhood in quiet forests and in bustling cities, never near the ocean. But this feels good. This feels like it could be home.
The elf is wrapped up in a heavy red cloak, her short hair whipping around in the breeze while she moves to join the other woman, her mouth curled into a grin as she peeks out into the ocean.]
Be careful, sis. There's hella sharks in these waters.

[It was less beautiful when the winds would pick up. The walls were crumbling and the chilled air could easily slip through. Salt would coat the floor and some mornings she would wake to it tangled in her hair. But there was still something soothing about hearing the waves roll against the shore as she drifted to sleep. However much her former life was tainted, that remained in tact for her.
She had no such luxury of a cloak, only her tattered gown which drifted and danced in the breeze like ribbons. She didn't feel the cold, at least. Adrenaline had kept her warm and her heart was still beating quickly.]
I...what? Hella sharks?
no subject
That's what I said! Water's just swimmin' with 'em, so try not to fall in. The bigger ones don't come right up to the shore, but the little ones are just as nasty. Caught a few for dinner a few nights back, not a pleasant experience.
- I mean, dinner was totally bomb, but the actual fighting with sharks before that? Not fun.
no subject
I didn't know that you could easily catch sharks in this ocean.
[She shook her head. As much as she tried to understand, some of her words were beyond her.]
What does bomb mean?
no subject
You can with determination an' a little magic. I've caught a few before. Shark fin soup is a total speciality of mine.
[Jeyne has nothing to worry about. Her inquiry just leaves the elf grinning wider, amusement shining in her eyes.] It means choice, or like, awesome. That clear it up? It's elven slang.

[It's an image that makes her smile, easing the tension from her body.]
Not exactly, but I think I can follow a bit better. You have a lot of energy.
no subject
I'm all kinds of magic, sis. Best way for shark huntin' though is to just throw down an electric shock right into the water. Super clean, no mess.
no subject
[And she had to admit, the method of catch sharks was intelligent.]
How large a shark have you caught?
no subject
[It's not something she likes to admit, but a year in this place and Lup's only just come to terms with it.]
Thirteen feet or somewhere about that. [She lowers her hand and the flames disappear, the elf shifting to rest her palms against her hips casually instead.] Much bigger here than the previous locale where they were keepin' us.
