It could happen at any moment- any action you do could be cut short by a sudden trancelike state, and so hopefully it happens when you're safe in your surroundings. And of course you're safe... after all, what could happen to you now that you're finally home?
Whether you don't remember Hadriel at all, or you just believe that this entire ordeal is over, you're home for good now, which is something worth celebrating. What happens in your home? Are you treated like royalty or just cast aside and forgotten? How are your friends doing? Your family? Everything is just as it should be and it's easy to get lost in it, even for an unlucky onlooker who may find themselves drawn into your trance and able to interact with you as you mill about your world and your reality.
Snapping out of it is the only way to end this trance, and you've got to eat and sleep at some point, but how can you go back now that you've been teased with what you desire (or maybe even fear) the most?► This log covers June 20th-July 2nd.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you die of homesickness let us know here.

[He'd just get eaten, or eternally tortured, or whatever devils do to their charges. It sounds awful to her (but of course it would) and anyway being stuck in the infernal hierarchy seems like it would suit him just as poorly as it would her.
She loops her arms around his neck, and plays with a little tuft of hair at his nape. She could easily one-up Otiel if she brings this one in. He might have charmed Nefetari, but the druid doesn't hold a candle to Law when it comes to raw power and ambition.]

[okay that's sarcasm, compared to his earlier query. He still doesn't believe in all that. But hey, once he's dead, what does he care what happens to his soul?]
no subject
Sometimes angels trying to redeem lost souls they think can be saved. More often, though, devils, or slaadi, or demons of all sorts. A single soul isn't worth much normally, but yours is probably quite valuable, given what you can do. And sometimes someone will be so desperate that they think even one little soul will put them better off than they are. But it doesn't happen often, since the boatmen are good at their jobs. And a marked soul? They know they get paid well for returning those.
[Oh, there's a thought - perhaps he would like to try raiding Yugolothi ships. Sure, the boatmen would likely all turn against them, but if Law brings back plenty of captives on his own, who needs mercenaries? They can't ever be trusted anyway.]

And would any of them really care that much about a world where no one has even heard of them, let alone believes in them?
[though as he's said before, his own terrible scientific atheism isn't exactly so widespread. Superstitions and local gods are still a thing culturally, if not literally]
no subject
No? Why would they care? Every world's mortals end up going the same way eventually. You would hardly be alone in coming from a place that doesn't understand what happens after death. In fact, I'd bet most don't. They all have their own little myths that are mostly wrong.

[the down-note in his tone is clear interest: it's something he hadn't considered. Is there even the slightest possibility that this connection exists?]
...I'm curious. You expect this. It isn't about...god worship or anything.
no subject
[And she's glad for that! Even gods that dwell in the Abyss, gods of chaos and destruction and evil, are enemies.]
I'm sure we already get souls from your world sometimes. There's nothing special about being from a different material plane than the one I'm most familiar with. It's just hard to know where they all come from and there's no way to trace them back, usually.

[no disrespect to the sisters at his school, may they be resting in peace somehow now, but...yeeeaaaahhh nooo...]
Huh. I hadn't considered that would even be possible. I suppose, I have no way to say it can't be. Maybe. Who knows? But with so many pirates, many of them formidable, you'd have no lack of quality recruits.

[Her hands fall to rest on his shoulders as she looks up at him intently, though still smiling.]
If you agree to this, you won't wind up lunch on your first day and erased from existence forever. Some day you'll die a mortal and reawaken a tanar'ri and I will make full use of the resources at my disposal to ensure you a very satisfying life among us.
[A promise she has no problem making, even if she can't really keep it. Ultimately, what happens to this one would be Amamot's choice. He could just end up trapped in a soul gem and stashed away in the cache she knows the demon lord must have, even if she's never seen it. But she doesn't intend this as a cruel trick, at least. Will his devil fruit abilities persist after the death of his mortal body? Perhaps. It's worth finding out.]
no subject
But that's neither here nor there.]
I'll consider it. Since I have nothing to fear from death here, it's not a urgent thought.
[once a skeptic always a skeptic. And while he likes and yes respects Caedra, Law isn't in love with her, so he has no reasons to do anything just to please her. Really, though, he'll think on it. Not a lie.]
no subject
[He's cautious and smart, and while she would have been very glad had he agreed to this immediately, she's not surprised that he wants to think on it, and it doesn't bother her any. It's not like she wants to spend forever with him anyway, he'd just be such a nice gift to the one she does love. A little token of her appreciation for everything Amamot has given her.
Satisfied with that for now, she leans forward against him, pleased with how nicely she fits against him while sitting in his lap like this. She'll leave later. There's no hurry.]

[considering their earlier physical contact was so rudely interrupted by a shared vision of Marineford, he'll allow it. After all, with his hands already comfortably resting along her thighs, keeping her seated comfortably, he's in a good spot. Now let's just hope another wave of Confusion's dickery doesn't hit them while they're here...]
