As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

And there are always those who want to be more.

Tis not a matter of believing - I have met the Valar, and their servants the Maiar and spoken to them. I'm sure I don't understand exactly how they do what they do, but their power is very real.
[ But that brings a grimace ]
Aye, that much is sadly true.

But I think our world is... comparatively younger? I'm sure even we elves will be little more than myth, eventually. But my grandfather, for example, is one of the Unbegotten, the very first of the Elves to awaken in those days when the only light was the stars - I am only three generations removed from that very early beginning! But even by our reckoning, that was a long time ago - Men no longer recall their first days any longer, and as my people leave the shores of Middle-earth, I think we will also gradually be forgotten. For most folk here, I'm sure the beginnings of their worlds are too far back to know.

That, I cannot tell you, as I was not there. But this I know - my grandfather and those of his generation remember a world lit only by the stars. When they travelled to Valinor, when I was born, that was the first time they had seen Light, but they came from the two Trees - Telperion and Laurelin, from whose fruit and flower were born later our Moon and Sun, and I remember when Tilion first steered the Moon into the skies, and later was followed by Arien, and so began the count of the Years of the Sun.

So your sun and your moon came from trees and you saw them being put into place? That must've been incredible.

That doesn't sound reassuring. What are you going to do when he does come back?

Fight him. [ Maglor says simply ] He is our oldest and greatest foe, and long ago, he slew my grandfather and tortured my brother, so my hatred of him is ... a little more personal than most. But that battle, they say, will be the end of the world, for the only thing that can defeat him truly will be to break the world itself, into which he has poured so much of himself that to destroy it will cripple him forever. But we do not know, for not even the Doomsman sees that far.

Utulien' aure! Day will come again - and it always does, e'en if we do not live to see it. That faith of the final morning is the very heart of estel, and why we keep going.

she nods] That's . . . kind of why the Legion does what it does. To make sure that the day--and peace--will come again.

[ He says with grave solemnity ]
Not all are so fortunate, but I hope you are one of them
no subject
So do I. And I hope that you are, too.

Just before I was brought here, although this victory was nearly six thousand years of the sun in it's making.
no subject
Six thousand? That's. . . a long time to wait.

I've nothing but time, these days. I learnt to wait because there was no other choice.
