As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.
Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.
And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.
Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers August 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

"Well do I know how closely the Dark can press! But I hope that some will always stand against it."
:D
They have to. Surrender's not an option.

I--hope so? I was in the middle of a fight when I found myself here.

Oh. I'm sorry for your loss. Losing people is always hard.

[ He shrugs a little ] For me, that was a long, long time ago. Having him here, alive, makes things better.
no subject
So. Do people come back from the dead a lot here?

And. . . our captors. I read the "newbie guide," but it didn't provide much information about them.
no subject
That, I do not know. The one who calls himself Hope is responsible, that much we have acertained, but how he manages it remains a mystery.
[ A grimace ]
That would likely be because we have little information to give. We know their names, and their primary motivation to bringing us here, but precious little more than that.
no subject
Does it work on people who died in their world?
I assume that they're not really gods, just advanced aliens using technology or magic? They really have no motivation for bringing us here other than to feed on us?
no subject
It seems to. Two of my brothers and my nephew are here also, and all of them from after or during their death. And ... I cannot answer that question, I fear. But I do know that I have known those with power equivalent, and yet the only one of the Valar who styled themself as a 'God' was Morgoth, the Enemy.
no subject
Oh.
[she furrows her brows slightly] May I ask what a Valar is? I've never heard of them before.

And there are always those who want to be more.
no subject
Tis not a matter of believing - I have met the Valar, and their servants the Maiar and spoken to them. I'm sure I don't understand exactly how they do what they do, but their power is very real.
[ But that brings a grimace ]
Aye, that much is sadly true.

But I think our world is... comparatively younger? I'm sure even we elves will be little more than myth, eventually. But my grandfather, for example, is one of the Unbegotten, the very first of the Elves to awaken in those days when the only light was the stars - I am only three generations removed from that very early beginning! But even by our reckoning, that was a long time ago - Men no longer recall their first days any longer, and as my people leave the shores of Middle-earth, I think we will also gradually be forgotten. For most folk here, I'm sure the beginnings of their worlds are too far back to know.

That, I cannot tell you, as I was not there. But this I know - my grandfather and those of his generation remember a world lit only by the stars. When they travelled to Valinor, when I was born, that was the first time they had seen Light, but they came from the two Trees - Telperion and Laurelin, from whose fruit and flower were born later our Moon and Sun, and I remember when Tilion first steered the Moon into the skies, and later was followed by Arien, and so began the count of the Years of the Sun.

So your sun and your moon came from trees and you saw them being put into place? That must've been incredible.
