Intro Log: Please Remove Metal From Luggage

Who: New arrivals and everyone else!
What: The intro log for August
Where: The colosseum and all around the city.
When: August 10th-13th
Warnings: New folks, metal falling apart, fun stuff

As you wake up on the sand of the colosseum, gazing up at cloudy gray skies, you might wonder what you're doing here. Where are you? How did you get here? You'll figure it all out soon enough, so try to clamp down on that rising panic, or you just might end up in a dangerous situation.

Because, of course, you're not the only thing that arrived. The Door has also chosen to pull in some rust monsters. These monsters may look a bit like insects, but they're much larger, with a rather vicious bite. You can fight them, but be careful - anything metal that touches them instantly begins to corrode. Your sword, a bullet from your gun, even your robot friend. Might want to keep a little distance.

And that's not all. Scattered across the ground of the colosseum can be found a variety of unique and delightful musical instruments. If you're the musical sort, maybe you can figure out how to play one - or maybe you already know. Hopefully no rust monster has wandered too close to the one you want to try, or you might find that it's missing important metal bits.

Once you've found a way to express the song in your heart, feel free to leave whatever bit of safety you've found. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!

[it's terrible. and most Legionnaires have far more modest powers than a Daxamite has. even her boyfriend can't keep up with them as he has to use his powers one at a time]

I really hope so. Earth's home to ten billion sentients. It's also the capital of the United Planets. If Earth is destroyed. . . I don't know what will happen.

[itsnotaonesie]

All the unknowns are probably the toughest part about being stuck here. This is probably the corniest thing I'm ever going to say in my life, but you've gotta have faith that your team is going to pull through. They sound like the kind of people who have already come out on top of a lot of things, who's to say they won't this time?

[unphase]

[she bites her lip and looks down for a moment] ...you're right, though. I have to believe in my friends. The Daxamites are tough, but my friends have been up against terrible odds before and come out on top. If I--if I want to keep my sanity, I'll have to believe that they won.

[itsnotaonesie]

I feel you there. Thinking positive is probably the best thing we've got when it comes to keeping sane. And uh, I guess if you ever need to talk about this stuff, hit me up. I might not always have great advice, but I am a good listener.

[unphase]

[she smiles] Thank you, you are. And--and if you ever want to talk about what you went through? I'll be there. We might be the only two superheroes here, we should stick together.

[itsnotaonesie]

[YES a smile, he'll consider this a victory]

Thanks, and yeah. That sounds like a good plan to me. Next step, secret superhero handshake?

[unphase]

What's that old Earth saying? Pain shared is halved? [and she laughs] All right. That sounds good to me.

[itsnotaonesie]

I haven't heard that one before, but based on personal experience, I'd say there's some truth behind it.

[unphase]

I'd say so, too. It--helps to know that there's another superhero in town.

[itsnotaonesie]

That's what I'm sayin'. If you ever need backup, just give your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man a call.

...Does that sound too corny? It does. That's okay, I'm just gonna own the corn.

[unphase]

I will. Promise.

[she giggles] Maybe a little bit? It's okay to own the corn. [her voice turns teasing] After all, I'm from a team with members named Cosmic Boy and Brainiac 5.

[itsnotaonesie]

Good point. In that case, I don't feel too bad about being a little corny.

[unphase]

Thank you. And you shouldn't, it's sweet.

[itsnotaonesie]

I would have maybe said dorky, but that works too. I guess.

[unphase]

Okay, maybe a little dorky. But I stand by sweet.

[itsnotaonesie]

Sweet, okay. Sure. Sweet until I find a butt that needs kicking, how about that?

[unphase]

That sounds fine. Besides, the same can be said about me.

[itsnotaonesie]

Sweet until there's a butt that needs kicking? Yeah, I can see that.

[unphase]

Thank you for saying so. I'm sure I can round up a dozen or two criminals who can confirm that it's accurate.

I'm pretty sure everyone that I've ever gotten arrested would just call me annoying, but really that's just part of my "charm".

[He says, complete with air quotes. He goes out of his way to annoy the piss out of everyone he fights tbh]

[unphase]

[she laughs heartily at that]

While I got a plaque from my friends in the Legion reading "She's Beauty, She's Grace, She'll Punch You in the Face." [she shrugs] I can't argue with that.

[itsnotaonesie]

Short, sweet, and to the point. And probably still way more charm than I'm putting out.

[unphase]

[she teases]

I don't know, I'd say that you have your own kind of charm. And you got a Homecoming date. [a pause] Okay, everything sort of went downhill from there, but it's not like you could've known that.

[itsnotaonesie]

You know what, I'll call the fact that I was able to get a date in the first place a victory. I kinda blew it immediately, but I think I have a good excuse.

You should! And you do. It's not like you could've known her father was an arms dealer.
