If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Wouldn't know. Apparently I was gone for a while. Missed all the fun.

But common sense dictates that almost anyone but Tyki would be far better for the city, and much preferred.]
I suppose we both missed the party. [Tyki laughs a little.] There's fashionably late, and then... [He takes a long drag off of his cigarette, and exhales instead of finishing what he was going to say.]

[ At least Drake saved his cigarettes. Small favors, Ephemera thinks, and inhales deeply. Lets the nicotine settle in his lungs. ]
You got a name? I'm Ephemera.
[ It's a unique name, one that he resented for a long time and kept out of pure spite. It's settled on him now. ]

[It's said without venom or judgement. Tyki rather likes that name, there's something odd and pleasantly strange about it. Unique names are a large part of his family, and he's become far more fond of them compared to mundane names.
Not that what he thinks of a stranger's name matters at all.]
I'm Tyki. Tyki Mikk.

It's a joke. A bad one.
[ Though ultimately not one he feels like explaining to a stranger. Regardless of origin, it's his name now. He eyes Tyki curiously, nodding once. ]
Welcome to Hadriel, I guess. You'll probably have to bargain with the gods if you want more cigarettes. One of the few things they don't have around here.

[Tyki wouldn't pry anyway. Although he's comfortable enough having some company at the moment, he isn't the person to question people he's just met. Unless they're Exorcists on his list, of course. Then it's a totally different issue.
Tyki stares for a moment, visibly annoyed. But then he shrugs, it can't be helped and there's no point being fussy about it.]
They're ill prepared for deities, aren't they? You'd think they'd have more available. [He has many packs, so many that he's honestly lost track of them, so he'll be okay. When one can store random things in your own body, it's easy to forget what's horded within.]

[ Ephemera never put much stock in religion and thus doesn't really care one way or another what the gods call themselves. They're powerful and it's possible they might prove themselves enemies in the future. For now, they've kept him and his friends alive. That makes them a resource, though a dangerous one. He doesn't take it personally like some of the others in Hadriel do. Survival means adapting to the situation you find yourself in. ]
Your world have anything like this?
no subject
[Tyki looks over again at the question. His world? Well, things were very different there.]
We did have a flood or two worth mentioning. [It's kind of a big deal, in his world. He is a Noah, after all.] We had a little more going on than this place. More people. Plenty of cigarettes and good food to go around. [Tyki shakes his head.] But perhaps I'll be thrilled with the variety the city has to offer once I've had time to explore a little more.

Honestly, I don't remember. I was told about it, that I lived through it. I suppose I was too young then to really be expected to hold it in my memories. [Less too young, more a different lifetime.] Supposedly it was biblical in it's death toll. [And literally biblical.]
no subject
Well, fuck. Least you survived.
[ It might not be much of a comfort. Being a survivor isn't, always. ]
Funny thing is, this place might actually be better than back home. Sure, everything wants to kill you, but they're strictly small scale. I could get used to that.

So far, the weather is worse. As is my financial situation. But it's nice to be rid of some of my responsibilities. [Tyki makes a little laugh, shaking his head at the smaller scale bit.] True. Better against a few than against a world. [With Tyki's luck and perchance for terrible decisions, that might change.]
no subject
[ Not that it matters here, one way or another. They're all in the same mess. ]

On top of that, he didn't exactly get the time to gather extras. None of them really did. While he keeps a good amount of random items stuffed inside of him, in his wild hammerspace, salable goods rarely find their way into what he carries.] Still, I'm not sure that any amount of money would be helpful here.
