If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.
► Feel free to make your own logs as well!
► All characters arrive with phones that have network communication and the newbie guide installed.
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!

Aw, man. I hate to be the bad news guy, but we're all pretty much completely cut off from our own worlds here. If those spirits are part of your world, they probably can't hear you. I guess the "good" news is that they're not just ignoring you?
[It's not really good news, but... yeah, it's not really good news.]

[ Kettara looks down. She isn't sure how she's meant to feel about that. The spirits have always been with her. Even as a child she could hear them whispering. It took her years to understand their words and the intricacies of their moods, but they were always close by, a murmuring comfort no matter what trials were put before her. Now there is nothing. The silence feels wrong. ]
I didn't think that was possible.
no subject
[Man he feels bad about bumming her out, but maybe it was best to get the bad news out of the way first? Or something like that.]
Considering the fact that technically nothing is impossible here, though, maybe these spirits of yours could show up later?
no subject
[ Strange. Kettara exhales slowly, pushing her bangs out of her eyes again. ]
Maybe. Though I suppose them being here would mean they aren't at home, and that might make things worse.
no subject
[Wizards, man. Who even knows.
Anywho, it's time to stop hanging upside down before he gets water up his nose or something. He drops down from his strand of webbing and lands in a crouch in front of Kettara.]
That is a fair point, though. Sounds like they're really important to your world.
no subject
[ Kettara isn't sure what to make of that. She doesn't perform arcane magic, but she knows the vague mechanics of how it works. It's simply one of those things that everyone absorbs by living in Azeroth.
She grins at him. ]
Yeah, they are. It's our duty as shamans to keep them in balance.
no subject
That sounds like it must be a ton of responsibility. What does keeping them in balance entail, exactly?
no subject
[ She grins again. ]
Water likes to be clean. The wind wants to blow. And the Earth wants a lot of different things. But it still has to hold crops and support bridges.
no subject
Oooh, so they're a bit unruly. So, keeping them in balance is more like keeping them in line so they don't just wreck the place. I guess if I had the ability to be fire, I'd probably get a little carried away too.
no subject
Sometimes. I mean, we don't force them. Or we're not supposed to. Master Muln says it's our duty to work in harmony with the elements, even when they make it difficult.
no subject
[But it's okay because you can punch them. You can't really punch fire. Or wind.]
no subject
[ One day. Kettara deflates a little, pushing her bangs out of her eyes again. ]
Or I'll try, at least. Sometimes the elements don't listen to me at all.
no subject
[Y'know, once she can get out of here and actually start talking to them again.]
no subject
Maybe!
[ She pauses, tipping her head to the side. ]
....you're not a shaman, though. You move like a druid, but you don't change form.
no subject
Druid? Pretty sure none of my powers have anything to do with magic. Unless that spider that bit me was enchanted or something, but I kinda doubt that.
no subject
[ That's...unusual, though Kettara supposes she's heard of stranger things. ]
This is where your power comes from?
no subject
[It's pretty strange even where he's from. Everything about Spider-Man is strange.]
no subject
Was it infected with something? I've heard of such things.
no subject
no subject
[ Kettara supposes that's one way to gain abilities. She's heard of stranger. ]
They suit you well, these gifts.
no subject
Once I got used to them and really learned how to use them, yeah. They weren't really that great at first, though.
no subject
[ Tell her everything. ]

Oh man, okay. So the first thing I noticed was that I was really strong all of a sudden? I accidentally broke all kinds of stuff because I just wasn't used to it yet. Man, I must have broken half of my aunt's dishes with my bare hands, which is coincidentally also how I found out that I heal from injuries really fast.
Then I noticed that my senses were all way more... I guess sensitive than they used to be? That took a lot more getting used to.
no subject
Your senses are...improved? In what way?
no subject
Huh... well, my eye sight and hearing got way better. It was actually kind of painful at first, like... imagine you're in a room being bombarded by really loud noises and blinding lights, and then someone starts tilting the room from side to side? It was just too much input all at once, but it's not so bad now that I'm used to it. The first couple months though, just constant headaches.
