If the rain on your face isn't enough to wake you up in the colosseum, maybe the thundering footsteps and- well, thunder- is. The first thing that you may notice is that it's incredibly wet around here, with winds that could knock you over if you aren't careful and thunder that brings with it a torrent of constant rainfall.
That's all fine though, because the gods saw fit to help you out on your way in and now everyone will be waking up wearing a rain coat! These coats are a little odd, and some of them are downright silly, but we trust that you'll make do. Of course, a few of the raincoats have additional sleeves, neck holes, and entirely too many buttons as well- but hey, it's the best we could do.
Wait, what was that about thundering footsteps? Oh right, as you're navigating your new fashion choices, there are some monsters afoot who will want nothing more than to grind you into a pulp and eat you- well, if you're organic, that is. If you're not organic, then they still want to grind you to a pulp, but maybe not so much the eating part.
Ogres are from many fantasy stories, but these in particular are from the Dragon Age series. With incredible strength and stamina and massive horns, fangs, and a bloodlust for violence, these monsters won't stop until everyone around them is a blood smear on the ground. They're also not too happy about this rainfall either, so be careful not to slip in the puddles as you run away from them!
Once you've splashed around a bit, feel free to run off into the stormy abyss of our islands. You can explore the rest of the city! Find a house, a new monster, a project to help with, or simply scavenge for supplies. Good luck, and enjoy your stay in Hadriel!► This log covers September 10th-13th.

[Ruby's talking and fighting. Seems like she's used to combat. The ogre's bad stench is starting to get to her. Hopefully they can finish quickly.]
OK! You got it. Our friend here smells really bad. Are they normally so stinky? I can think of a million things that smell better than monster guts.

[a good thing she is, because Tinya's taken out both of its eyes, slashed its throat and tried stabbing it in the heart and it's still not dead. she's thinking she may have to go with gutting it after all]
I don't know, I've never seen anything like this before. They do really stink, though.
[the creature tries reaching out blindly for her, but its hands pass through her as though nothing was there]

[ Ruby's jaw drops in surprise. Wow it's so surreal she can't hide her shock. The ogre needs a little more spanking. She's been impressed with Tinya's fighting style so far. ]
That's amazing. I've never met an alien before and I'm sorry if I'm awkward.

[yes, the ogre does need a little more spanking. which is why she calls out] You might want to back up a few steps! [because she's going in to gut the thing and it's going to be messy]
No, you've been fine so far. Don't worry about it.
[and with that, she unphases, stabs the ogre on one side of its stomach and drags the katana along to the other side. blood and innards spill out, bloodying Tinya again. she has to dart between its grasping hands to avoid being grabbed, but at least this way, the rain is washing the blood away]

[ Ruby sounds distracted. There's a lot going on right now. She's not entirely comfortable with their current situation, but hey who is? Tinya's holding it together well. So Ruby's trying to be more steady herself. ]
You got more blood on you! I really hope that doesn't leave a mark. Do they have dry wash?

[who could be comfortable with the current situation? she remembers all too well how confused she was when she arrived here last month. but her time in the Legion has taught her to keep her cool in a crisis, so that's what she's trying to do]
I know. Gross. [she remains tangible long enough for much of the blood to be washed away by the heavy rains] It shouldn't leave a mark. This fabric's supposed to be stain resistant. [it probably should be noted that she's wearing a white and black costume]

[She kinda misses her own place too. Her family and friends were good to her. It'll be a while until they get back to their proper homes.]
I feel like I'm inside a really bad movie set with a tacky backdrop.
[Okay that ogre is done for. It's barely moving an inch. They did a good job here. Ruby pokes it with her scythe to make sure it's dead.]

[missing home and the Legion and her boyfriend is like a constant ache. making things worse is, she doesn't even know if she's alive or dead]
That's. . . not a bad description for this place. But it gets even more annoying. Just wait until you read the "newbie guide."

[ She sulks for a brief second and perks up almost instantly. It takes a lot to keep Ruby all depressed like that. She waves her hand with quick motions. ]

[Tinya tries to be as resilient, but she can only maintain denial of her possible death for so long. one of these days, she's going to snap]

I'm from a place called Remnant. It wasn't perfect or anything! I mean, we had monsters like that running around all the time. Sooo....that's why I can fight well.
[ Her skill in combat earlier wasn't just for show. She spent a long time developing those moves back home. ]

You're really good. I'm good at hand-to-hand combat, but this was my first time using a weapon.

[Her sister's a huge combat nut too. They just seem to have knack for fighting and mobility. It's good though, these skills saved Ruby's life. ]

Everyone in my world gets training in Lerdrit when they're around thirteen. It's a martial art that brings phasing into fighting. The rest of what I learned came from the Legion.

[It's always been her dream to be strong like her family. Ruby's still a kid so it'll take a lot of work, but wow. Tinya's been to many places too! That's neat.]
