We'll sight the shores of islands
Who: Crewmembers of the Law-Curufin-Floki sailing fleet + OTA
What: The three ships and their crews finally make landfall after many weeks at sea! Come greet your friends (?) on their return as they disembark and bring the fragments to the lab - or meet them for the first time if you've just arrived!
Where: Island shoreline, or anywhere
When: September 19th
Warnings: Will update as needed but nothing terrible expected here unless someone hugs a Door fragment too close.
Just over four weeks ago, the three boats set off in search of some of the more distant Door fragments. Under the experienced eyes and hands of a few seasoned ocean voyagers, the crew has suffered boredom, kraken attacks, stormy weather, a captain gone mad with the chaos of the fragments themselves - and perhaps most notably, a trio of Null that were waiting at one of the locations.
But as the sight of islands loomed ahead once again, they finally were sure of one thing - they had all made it back alive.">

[But that's another story. Rey lowers the heavy looking bag she has over her shoulder and gives Laura a sobering look.]
How were things while we were gone? Can see that the islands didn't explode. [Or the gods didn't skip town like she was afraid they would.]

[she meets Rey's look and gets serious as well]
The gods did this thing where they made us think everyone else except for a couple of people had disappeared from the islands, including them. It was a little creepy, but not too awful. We also had the storm from hell a few days ago. Did it hit you out there?
no subject
When did that happen? People disappearing, that is.
[Just so that she knows for sure, first.]
Yeah, that storm was a pain in the ass. How bad did it hit the city? ["Is the Speakeasy okay?" she also means to say.]

[all in all, the gods had pulled more annoying stuff in the past]
It was about a whole week here. I had to mop up water from the floor of the Speakeasy a few times, but it didn't do any major damage. I had plenty of time to look after things, since I got stranded on the island when the storm hit.

Thanks, appreciate it. [She also appreciates that Laura knows exactly where Rey's worries lied. Because priorities, yay.] Surprised we don't get more storms like that here, actually. The constant rain is one thing, but it's small potatoes compared to that shit.

Right, right. Got to find some wood to knock on now.
[Too bad her asshole crew cut down most of that to make those damned ships. Not that Rey has really caught wind of that yet since she barely visited those islands, neither has she spent much time on the network to notice the hubbub in their absence. Once she notices the lack of orchards, however, she is going to be very Grade A Displeased with what little she has to work with until her supplies regrow.]

[Laura had gone to the Orchard after she heard about what happened and was more than a little horrified on Rey's behalf. she knew what it meant to have so many fruit trees felled and what it would mean to the Speakeasy]

[Though they're all probably better off for that. Hadriel doesn't seem like a place that could support a consistent economy.]
So, anything else exciting happen while we were gone? Or was it just shitty weather and the gods trying to fuck with people again?
no subject
[which is probably for the best. this place is hard enough to deal with without adding money to the mix.
she shrugs] No, just that. All in all, it was pretty boring, other than those two things. I guess the storm was exciting enough? Never had one of those before.

No crazy storms in your parts of Washington?
no subject
Not really. We had steady, soaking rains, but nothing like that with all the wind and thunder and lightning.

[Rey might be very familiar with the region.]
