Event Log: Gifts from the Door, Monster Version

What: The event log for the monster version of the Gifts from the Door event
Where: All over the city
When: October 12th-17th
Warnings: Like, so many monsters

No monsters arrived with the newbies - great! One less thing to worry about. Except it never quite works out that way, does it? Maybe the Door was just delayed a little, because on the 12th, a few monsters start appearing. And then more. And then more. Where's the off switch?! Oh right, no one knows.

Some of these monsters you might recognize, some your best friend from another world might be very familiar with. Some might be creatures you've never imagined. But don't worry, they all have one thing in common - they'd all be happy to tear you to itty bitty pieces. Or eat your liver. Or consume your soul. Or just scare the shit out of you, that's fun too.

So lock your doors and stay inside, and hope nothing breaks in through the windows. Alternately, now's a great time to get your hero on and go out and smack some monsters around. It's great exercise, and there's nothing better for stress relief! Just avoid those big scary fangs.

[well it's not like it's any less gross for Law to aim an Injection Shot right into those four-way gaping jaws and splatter its head effectively?

[in typical understated fashion. He sensed another one nearby, it just must have come in a lot faster than expected]

Don't mention it.

[He takes it as genuine gratitude whether or not it is. The smell coming off of the dead ones is almost enough to block out the remaining live ones. Almost.]

I got 5 more coming. 2 each and whoever gets the last one first wins?

[He grins up at Law and spins around his staff to clean off the remaining innards ]

[ohhh? Can this little brat sense them too?

Law glances to one side, even though he doesn't need his eyes to tell him where they are.]

This isn't a competition. Just guard yourself. Room.

[he puts up a fresh room so that as the creatures enter, he can make his own choices about which ones and with what attack. Who knows, with a staff like that maybe the kid can be useful as well.

Two swings of his long sword and the foremost demodog is neatly quartered, but somehow not dead since its four legs still beat the air ineffectually. It seems to have no idea why it's not running when they're all clearly working. The rest just keep plowing forward, though, so he can't just stand around admiring his handiwork. It's fighting time.]

But it's not as fun that way.

[He runs towards the oncoming monsters, leaping over them just before they're able to attack.]

Too slow! Minus 10 points.

[If the other guy doesn't want to play, he'll just do it himself. Now behind them, he swings the staff around to attack his two repeatedly before they can regroup.]

And you smell bad, that's another 5.

[he can hear the chatter just to his left and internally groans. This guy's like the worst parts of Straw Hat and Zoro-ya combined together. Having fun in a fight and being weird. Ugh.

He goes in for another Injection Shot but the creature is slightly too fast and dodges, so instead Law picks it up and flings it into the fourth, sending them both tumbling and snarling away.]

If all you're going to do is bludgeon them to death, at least hit them this way so I can finish it cleanly.

[It's not playing along, but at least the other guy is talking. How are you supposed to fight something weak without bantering? Were they too much for the guy? No, he seemed pretty confident, so he must just be grumpy.

Well, he asked for it. With a loud cry Goku sends his two into the air towards Law. It was almost like tag-teaming with Sanzo and getting enemies in range to be shot.]

[that's pretty much what it is. The beasts are still well within the Room and thus, subject to his every whim. Cutting them into pieces is far more effective, and surprisingly less gory, so Law whips his blade in several quick motions and nice, square little chunks of demodog thud to the ground all around them. They're still horrifyingly alive, but given the twitch of feet and jaws, incredibly confused.

The other two he flung aside have righted themselves, so Law follows up his nasty cubist tactic by swapping himself for Goku, putting the kid right in the path of those last two.]

There you go, have at it.

[he'll find the puzzle pieces with the hearts or lungs in a second and actually make them dead, but here, let's just stop them from moving, first]

UWAHHHH!

[Goku was not where he had just been, and neither were the monsters. He managed to get his staff up in time to smack them both out of the way before they landed on him. That plus his last attack meant they weren't getting up again.

He doesn't put together that Law had been the one to move him, he assumed it was some attack of the demodog's like the other monsters that looked like they were somewhere else.]

How'd they do that?!

[enemy officer defeated!

Law's quick to assume 'that' means the changing of locations. He's smart like that.]

That wasn't them, it was me. [as he banishes the room with a flick of his wrist]

[Goku stares at him confused. He did that? But they were fighting together and that wasn't helpful at all. In fact it really sucked.]

Hey! Why'd you do something like that ya bastard?!

Because you were doing so well. You wanted another chance to fight, right? I was busy with something else at the time.

It worked, didn't it?

But you told me to hit them to you! Why'd you tell me to do that if you were just gonna make me kill them anyway?

[He dismisses Nyoi-bo with a shake of his hand, and glares at the asshole with the stupid hat.]

Don't try to analyze my strategy, you're not going to get it. And by the way, you're welcome.

[he's used to dealing with idiots or he'd be more annoyed. Law simply checks to be sure they're all down and nothing else is in the area before lowering his defenses.]

Let me guess. You're one of those "likes to fight" types.

[Goku's just fine with not analyzing his strategy anymore. It makes zero sense to him, and thinking about it too hard will just hurt his head.]

What's wrong with that?

I didn't say there was anything wrong. [but his tone totally implied it, yep] Just that I know too many people like that.

I can sense the population overload. You should have a lot of fun with this infestation.

What do you mean sense?

There's none around here right now. At least, I can't smell any.

[it's not a question but it's also not a snide remark for once. He's actually quite interested in that fact.]

I have the capability of sensing life. I don't sense anything unusual within our immediate range, so you're right. We've got a bit of a break.

Like Chi? You can sense life force? Can you do chi-blasts and stuff too?

...I have no idea what you're talking about. Blasts? No. Haki is an inner sense.
