World Log: Tundra Arrival

What: The log for the city's arrivel on the ice planet

You all get some warning to prepare, which is great. A little time to stock up on supplies, make sure everything's where it supposed to be, call your friends in from their fishing boats. And then the city moves. It happens in the blink of an eye - one moment you're on islands, surrounded by ocean, and the next? The next you're surrounded by frozen ground, the temperature has dropped significantly, and even the sky looks different. The air has a bite to it, that familiar feeling telling you it's thinking about snowing soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon.

The city has rearranged itself back into that old, familiar shape, instead of spread out across islands like it was a moment ago. Maybe that'll make things easier for you, maybe it won't, but it also means the return of the lake and river that used to bisect the city - only now they're frozen over. This climate also means it'll be hard for any plants not otherwise protected to survive - and that you, too, will start feeling that cold if you're away from a warm place for too long.

And warm places might be in short supply, because when the city moved the gods did not. What does that mean for you? Well, whatever supplies are in the shops at the moment the city moves are the only ones left. No new food supplies, no new clothing, nothing. In addition, the power across the whole city is out, including water and heating. Anything else powered or supplied by gods (the hot springs, the mopeds, what's left of the orchard, the armory, the GPS) will not work.

You're on your own. Try not to die.

[ Possibly but who even knows with Starscream. ]

Compared to what I've seen from Cybertronian technology the powers these humans have here isn't quite that impressive. [ He might be lying but he'll never really say he's impressed with humans anyway. ]

A time when the supplies were readily available. [ He just grumbles under his breath. ]

That's a situation for you humans to discuss among yourselves. But using it as fuel to keep warm would not be a bad idea.

[she heard that] Hey, you don't have to worry yet. Nobody else wants your food.

Yeah, probably wouldn't be. I'll have to stock up.

If you wanted to have an easier time with protecting yourself and getting around it's not such a...bad choice. After all I am a con of my word. [ Have a smirk as he flexes his claws. ]

I know none of you humans can eat it, but that doesn't mean you won't try to use it for other things.

Who doesn't like protecting themselves and getting around? [was that flexing supposed to scare her? because it didn't. not even remotely]

Ohhhh. So it's got other uses, huh? Good to know.

Well there are some who enjoy it too much for their own good. But who am I to question their heroism. [ Either way he'll wave a clawed hand. ] That being said I am sure there aren't many who would actively try to gain my ire. [ Given his size and strength. He might be smaller but he still has his same strength and abilities. ]

Yes. It has the strangest effects on the human physiology too. I wouldn't touch it if I were you.

[ Said in a rather ominous way, Starscream will smirk as he puts his hands behind his back. ] That being said it is in limited supply and I do not intend to disclose its whereabouts to a human either.

There are an awful lot of do-gooders around here. [said in as neutral a tone as possible] Most people here don't actually try to piss people off.

Right. Thanks for the warning.

[is this all meant to scare her?] Hey, I'm not gonna mess with your stuff. It's yours, you can have it.

Oh, yes, there are copious amounts of those on any planet I've noticed. [ Starscream will never get it but he's not going to start anything either. It makes it easier for him, actually, because usually do-gooders expend all their time and energy doing good, which makes it easy pickings for him. ]

But of course. I wouldn't want to have any of my precious energon wasted on you miserable humans because you can't curb your curiosity.

[ Said with no small amount of annoyance in his tone. But even if Laura says that, Starscream doesn't really believe it. ]

Been to a lot of planets then. [it's a statement, not a question. because wow this guy (robot) is weird. he seems to think that he's some kind of Bond villain. oh well. she's not going to mess with his delusions of grandeur]

Hey, I'd say that curiosity is one of our best features. And someone sounds like he's in a bad mood. [a.k.a. annoyed]

A few in my time, yes. But as energon seekers that is what our job entails. [ He'll just sneer back at her. ]

Is it? Because I can say that it only causes trouble for most. [ He is in a bad mood, but that's just his mood 24/7. ]

Yes, well, I can't say there's really anything to be happy about. Especially being stuck here on this miserable planet.

So, you. . . . what? Eat yourselves out of house and home, then move on to the next planet? Doesn't exactly sound like the smartest plan I've ever heard. You are gonna run out eventually, then what? [he calls that a sneer?]

Some people like trouble. [she would be one of them. why else is she sassing a giant robot?]

It's not that bad. You'll get used to it. Or not and stay miserable. Either way, it's up to you.

Is that what you think? [ Have a scoff and a flippant wave of his hand. ]

You humans are so simple minded it's amazing that you managed to get as far as you have. [ Wow. Rude much Starscream?!]

If you must know, it was because of civil war that we had to leave our planet. We had to off load our energon to various planets so when we left we could survive. And Earth just happened to be one of the miserable places that a large portion of energon fell to.

Civil wars don't happen in most societies. Only in ones where one side is really, really, really wrong and the other side has to keep them from screwing the pooch. [guess which side she thinks you're on?] And lucky us.
