You all get some warning to prepare, which is great. A little time to stock up on supplies, make sure everything's where it supposed to be, call your friends in from their fishing boats. And then the city moves. It happens in the blink of an eye - one moment you're on islands, surrounded by ocean, and the next? The next you're surrounded by frozen ground, the temperature has dropped significantly, and even the sky looks different. The air has a bite to it, that familiar feeling telling you it's thinking about snowing soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon.
The city has rearranged itself back into that old, familiar shape, instead of spread out across islands like it was a moment ago. Maybe that'll make things easier for you, maybe it won't, but it also means the return of the lake and river that used to bisect the city - only now they're frozen over. This climate also means it'll be hard for any plants not otherwise protected to survive - and that you, too, will start feeling that cold if you're away from a warm place for too long.
And warm places might be in short supply, because when the city moved the gods did not. What does that mean for you? Well, whatever supplies are in the shops at the moment the city moves are the only ones left. No new food supplies, no new clothing, nothing. In addition, the power across the whole city is out, including water and heating. Anything else powered or supplied by gods (the hot springs, the mopeds, what's left of the orchard, the armory, the GPS) will not work.
You're on your own. Try not to die.► This log covers November 21st-30th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you freeze to death, starve to death, are eaten by the local animals, fall through the ice, or find some other exciting way to die, please let us know here, and be aware resurrection will not be currently happening. You stay dead - for now.

Connor | OTA
[No better way to get over a fear than face it, right?
Connor's pretty sure that's true, but he's also pretty sure that if it were any colder and snowier he wouldn't be feeling brave enough to try. As it is, though, it's much warmer than he feared it would be, and also much more... Rocky? Scrub-like? It's a landscape he's never seen before, and curiosity often wins out over fear for him anyway.
So he's out exploring, his beanie and jacket suited for the weather enough that he doesn't stand out, and he's very purposefully ignoring the temperature information being sent to his processors. It isn't cold enough to be dangerous to him, just an unpleasant reminder.
He can be found looking through the shops, on the outskirts of the city carefully observing one of the mammoth-like creatures, and then at night staring up at all the stars, completely transfixed.]
[Lake | 21st]
[Part of his exploration involves the walk to the lake and, after careful testing of the stability, walking out cautiously onto the ice. He doesn't need to fear drowning but he certainly doesn't want to risk how cold the water must be, so he's being very careful, but as he wanders out further he starts noticing the shapes moving around under the surface.
To anyone who might also be daring to wander out onto the lake's surface, he'll ask--]
Do you see those?
lake
They're very large, aren't they? I worry we should not break the surface of this lake to draw water -- the one closer to the city center doesn't seem to have any movement, it would be far safer.

Well, there will be time for that later. For now, she needs to gather supplies. Before the shift, she'd been camping out in the wilderness. That won't be wise if the temperature continues to drop. And in the meantime, she needs warmer clothes. A cloak, perhaps. Furs would be better, but she hasn't seen any yet and lacks the skill to tan skins herself.
She's careful about not bumping into anyone, wary of how that ended last time. And at first, she doesn't pay much mind to the man in the shop, far more concerned with examining a winter coat. It's difficult to find one in her size.
Then she pauses. Frowns.
That's an interesting smell.
She walks over to Connor and leans forward, sniffing him deliberately.

[He's looking down at the ice, trying to discern what sort of things are swimming underneath the frozen surface. They're big, and probably nasty because that's the kind of luck that they all have, but sometimes it's worthwhile to risk hunting large game.]
[Gren looks up when he's addressed by this clean-cut looking guy.]
Yeah, I see 'em. [He walks a few steps, following the path that one of the shadows swims in until it slips too deep to see.] Fuckin' shit-ton of ice to get through, though.

Scott Ryder | OTA
[Scott definitely had colder in mind, and with his armor on it's not so bad. He just might never take it off, in fact. He knows he's probably one of the lucky ones, though. The nights are likely to get worse and not everyone is going to have something prepared for the cold weather.
Scott had been perched on top of a building closest to the edge of the city, staring out into the distance to see if he could make anything out. There's some movement — wildlife, probably, but nothing that seems immediately dangerous. His body glows in a light blue sheen of energy as he hops off the building, his landing slowed down.]
I feel cheated. [Just casually speaking to whoever's wandering by.] I completely missed out on the nice island life.
21st, nightfall
[Scott signed up for the Andromeda Initiative for two reasons. One; his life got a little too difficult when his father was kicked out of the Alliance for continuing work on SAM. He and his twin could barely get work with the Ryder name attached. The Initiative was a good fresh start for him. And two; exploration. To see what else was out there. It was something he was genuinely interested in.
So even if his situation isn't ideal...he can still appreciate the beauty of the night sky on a completely different planet, in a completely different...universe? That's still a tough pill to swallow. But either way, it's amazing.
After a long day of wandering about, seeing if people needed any help, he's walking through the city and he'll stop whoever's nearby without even thinking.]
Hey, what place has the best view around here? That sky is kickass.
[He knows you can see the sky from literally anywhere but a cool (hah) place to chill (ha ha) while sky-watching is appreciated.]

Deputy Pratt || OTA
[Pratt is bundled up in as many layers as he could find having ransacked the stores prior to the move. He's not exactly warm, but he won't be getting hypothermia anytime soon.
He's out exploring, looking for a good place for his shooting range. He wants it to be out of town so there aren't any accidental casualties from a firing range inside the city limits. But he doesn't want to be so far out that they're going to get trampled by mammoths or freeze because of the wind not being blocked by any of the buildings.
He tugs his knit hat lower on his head, almost unrecognizable without his hair visible. Boy does he wish he'd been able to find a hat with ear flaps because his ears are numb now.]
Love's Housing || Anytime
[Pratt's little A-frame house actually looks a lot more appropriate out here on the tundra than it did on the beach. But Pratt's horrific collection of Hawaiian shirts do not.
He's standing on his porch, staring out at the edges of the city, a small herd of mammoths milling about.]

Starscream | ota
[ A pissed off Decepticon is totally what everyone needs when being transported to this place, right? Right. Because if there's one thing he really doesn't like it's the cold, it's very effective against Cybertronians and he really hates not being in control of where he goes. So have a very grumpy, very cold, Decepticon stomping around as he tries to keep warm. ]
Of all the places...this insufferable frozen wasteland was not the choice I would have decided on. [ He'll just kick up some snow with an audible grumble as he crosses his arms over his chest. He looks pretty cold thought despite his hot tempered actions. ]
Lake
[ He doesn't remember a lake ever residing within the islands so this is a new discovery for him. Still he doesn't take chances and never really sticks his neck out unless he has to. He could easily fly over it but with energon in limited supply...using up his energy doesn't seem very smart. So he'll go the next best route and ask if anyone else has traversed it yet. ]
You there! Have you gone across the lake yet? Is there anything worth going over there for? [ He sounds a bit impatient as he asks that. ]
Wildcard
[ Throw anything at me! Starscream is going to be displeased and grumpy regardless. He'll probably he scrounging around for stuff to burn or to use to fix up his own house to protect it from the elements. ]

Fingon | OTA
[ Their new home is warmer than Fingon expected.
Not that such a thing was hard, really, or that it serves as much of a consolation once he realizes the gods are gone. But it's something- and they do need something as the state of things becomes clear.
No heat. No electricity. Perhaps no food when the stores run out, until they find what else is in the area... but alright. He's managed worse- so have half the people here, for all he knows.
First the stores, he decides, to check what they still have. Then the orchards- how are the trees doing? Can he pull some Song out of the air to help them thrive? What else- another fire pit, maybe, as they did in the desert?
Not enough, perhaps. But as ideas go, they're someplace to start.]
Unwelcome Guests
[He's on the outskirts of town taking the measure of their new surroundings when distant growling rings out from somewhere to his left. Fingon doesn't like the sound of it- and in a momentary fit of real idiocy, he follows.
The source of the growls? One of three shaggy...things, still far enough from the city, but closing in soon enough. Fingon stares back at them, hand on the hilt of his sword, and inexplicably laughs.]
Bears, [he mutters quietly between chuckles.] After all this time....
Around the city
so she's at the shops, looking for something, anything that's both pleasing to the eye and warm. she's having a hard time of it. everything that looks warm has garish patterns on it that she wouldn't ever want to wear and everything that looks pleasing is far too thin to be of use.
so in the meantime, she's standing in front of a large pile of rejected clothing, rubbing her hands against her arms in an attempt to keep them warm]

Nagito Komaeda | OTA
[Komaeda was already one of those people who had already prepared for both scenarios. Still, he was not too pleased when he came out today with everything freezing cold. In fact, it completely sucked. He was already not in the best mood from the memory event but he had to be out here to look familiarise himself, especially if he wanted to eventually search for the embassies, if they still existed.
To say he was going to be very annoyed if they didn't would be an understatement.
Unfortunately, he was so cold and because of his health, he ended up looking for fuel to keep warm. As he was walking, he started to shiver and sneeze very loudly.]
24th November
[Komaeda can be seen looking at one of the broken husks about in the city. Having been there during the Null attack, as he peers closer, he recognises what is lying in it.]
Ah! That's-!
[He steps back immediately. That thing isn't still alive......is it?]
Kettara Bloodthirst | ota
[ A silvery, translucent wolf can be seen darting across the ground, exploring. Occasionally the wolf will chase after some of the smaller animals but someone watching closely will notice that whenever the wolf pounces, its paws never connect with its prey.
Come closer and the wolf will pause, ears flat, before changing shape.
Kettara stands with her hands on her hips. ]
What do you want?
Lake
[ Kettara is, despite her largely chilly mood, intrigued by the lake and the life within it. She can be found a few yards into the water, kneeling down with her hands flat against the ice. ]
How strange. I've never seen anything like this.

Sharon da Silva | OTA
[ In the grey of their new home, Sharon stands out like a sore thumb. The bright orange of her hoodie is pulled up, covering her mop of bleached, tangled hair. She's got a vividly pink and black striped knit sweater pulled over said hoodie, paired with dark purple leggings that look too thin to provide much warmth. It's not like she's just out wandering. She's got a destination in mind and layering up isn't necessary when she's going to be inside.
But that doesn't stop her from regretting not slipping on another sweater and maybe that beanie she found.
She trudges onward, stomping a little. Her cheeks and nose are rosy. She blows into her cupped, ungloved hands in an attempt to warm them before she realizes the futility of it—or that she was capable of creating warmth on her own. She stops suddenly, palms open and up.
One breath, two, and then a flame blooms in her hands. It's not a perfect ball and the fire flicks and whips. She lacks in control but a small satisfactory grin blossoms across her often sour face. Her fingers aren't cold anymore. ]
NIGHT | 27th
[ The sky is beautiful and in the cool air of the night, the stars seem brighter. She watches as she leans up against one of the apartment spires, arms crossed tightly. She breathes in deeply, somewhat at peace with the knowledge that the gods weren't here. When she hears someone nearby, entering or exiting the spire, she speaks up. ]
Isn't it the prettiest thing you've ever fucking seen? [ It seems like such a stupid statement but, in this newfound feeling of hope for freedom, it's the most amazing thing she's seen. ]
27th
she can't deny that it's beautiful. rippling waves of light and color in the sky with the stars and the moons peeking through. it's stunning. nothing like she's ever seen in Seattle.
she takes a moment and drinks it all in before she responds]

Ravine. | OTA
Being a dead specter with no physical ties to the world by a body of flesh and bone has its advantages. For one, there is no need for Ravine to worry about death to the elements or starvation.
Unlike the desert, however, she doesn't seem inappropriately dressed any longer -- not that it ever mattered. Even during the harshest of winds, neither her hair nor her long, flowing coat catches in the icy breeze. The chilly climes do not touch the skin that isn't there.
The only difference from the norm is that the reaper is more bogged down by fatigue, but that has been a theme from her as of late. During the daytimes, she drags her heels across the roads, the frozen grounds, and even over the lake. Her dark shape hunches over, black wisps of smoke floating from her body.
For those who know well enough to have paid notice to her scarce appearance as of late, they might see her weary disposition to be the answer. If asked, it will take a few seconds delay for her to answer.
If she answers at all.
Hope you're not faint of heart.
City outskirts.
Under the moonlight, in the shadows, something about Ravine practically glows. It's not a pleasant or alluring glisten in the dark; rather, it is the haunting flicker of cat-like pupils that peer through the gloom of the long night. Whether she's looking at you, through you, or the predator behind you looking for a meal -- or maybe even all of the above -- it's hard to say. What comes out of her is a quiet, whisper of a noise.
"Do not turn around," she warns, an echo in her voice carries in your ears like a hollow cave.
Although she cannot help in the killing of a beast, she can make sure that you don't die by its maws.

[Jo had voted for the jungle. She wasn't exactly thrilled about moving to the ice planet, but since it happened anyway, she tried to get ready.
Thankfully it hasn't been as cold as she feared, but it was cold enough to be a problem without preparation. She's in a couple layers and luckily she has sturdy boots.
The lack of running water and heat is an issue. She doesn't like this at all.]
Figures they'd just up and leave us here.
City Outskirts; After a day or two
[It's easier now that the city is reunited. Jo won't complain about that part, though right now it would come in handy if the river wasn't frozen over. Thankfully, the phones still work, even if nothing else seems to.
She's from far enough north that she knows how winter works, though she's used to more snow around. She takes a long walk around the outside of the city and catches sight of some of the local creatures. Those could cause some problems. If she sees anyone, she'll call out.]
Have you seen anything interesting?
Around the City
which was kind of gross and creepy when she thought about it that way. she resolved to not touch anyone until she could take her own damn temperature and confirm her theory.
a little chill would be understandable. being the same temperature as this godforsaken planet wouldn't be.
so that's why she's in a sweater with as thick of a jacket she could find over it.
she also is concerned about the whole lack of water and heat thing. she's guessing she can get by as far as the heat goes and might be able to go without drinking water, but she's going to miss showers]

Rey. | OTA
If you're looking for someplace warm to settle down, the Speakeasy is more inviting than ever. Unlike most of the city, it also lights up like a beacon from a distance, more radiant at nightfall.
Surprisingly, there is electricity in addition to the warmth. A firepit keeps the main area downstairs comfortable, while dim colored lights illuminate the establishment during the darker times of day. How this is possible, only Rey has the answer, but it might have something to do with the wires and other gadgets she has been repairing along the walls.
While anyone is free to serve themselves or catch a drink from one of the other staff, Rey is seen fleetingly around the downstairs, upstairs in the Game Room, or vanishing into the cellar to get work done. Most attempts at catching her are met immediately at first with a dismissive wave.
"Can't talk. Doing some maintenance."
That seems to be the case with her these days.
South Watchtower.
Along the outskirts of the city, closest to the Speakeasy, a makeshift windmill can be found. The gusts of weather catches the rotor blades, moving in reliable rotation to provide energy through the reconstructed power grid.
It takes some time, but for now it's enough to provide energy to the southern part of the city for now. Rey will have to call up Kaiba soon to look into reestablishing the power grid in the other parts of the city, using what was left of the dam and generator before the damned Null took those out.
Rey seems hard at work when she stops suddenly, catching sight of movement along the dusken horizon, just outside of the city. She squints, then scowls when she recognizes one of the local wildlife she has noticed curiously stalking the outer limits.
Clutching her knife, she waits to see what the creature does before deciding to do anything. Here's hoping you don't stumble along to draw it here... It would be a shame to put Rey's work to ruin so soon.
If you could survive that, that is.
Re: Rey. | OTA
She was exploring when she spotted the windmill and the person working on it. Along with food, a power source to keep warm and provide water was also a means of concern, and she was glad there was possible means to provide it. It might no work for the entire city, but it was a start.
Her observations were torn away when she saw one of the creatures by the perimeter of the city, and she muttered a prayer that her power gauntlets relied on solar rather than electric power.

taako | ota
[Hey, guess what: he hates this!
On one hand, the gods are gone which means Taako is a free elf, and he can finally act around this city without worrying about the all overseeing eye of bullshit. On the other hand, there's no fucking supplies, and apparently the idiots of this city won out to go to a place where they can't scavenge the land at all. Frankly, he's deeply unhappy about it. No fish to pull out of the ocean, no beasts to fight, no goddamn plants to pull up even if they had grown. They're fucked. They're well and truly fucked.
Which is why he can be seen trying anyway, standing on the edge of the frozen lake, blasting bolts of fire into it to try and create a hole. A fishing pole can be seen nearby, and even Taako himself seems to look a bit different, wisps of transparent flame covering his entire body that he doesn't even seem to notice.
All the while, he's mumbling to himself, though it's hardly quiet.]
The one time the liches need to disappear. They transport us all to a frozen hellhole and then stay on island time. They don't give a shit. I bet they've got margaritas and are laughing their fuckin' ass off right now. Fuck.
[He's obviously not pleased with all this.]
ii. [later; delight's temple] but we've made it here somehow / don't pay no mind to the where or how
[Well, it's time to make the best of a bad situation, and by that Taako means his anger has looped around to not giving half a shit about anything. So he can be found on the top of Delight's temple, with a familiar board in hand, looking down at what appears to be an icy, shaped slide.
One guess as to who did that. And one guess as to who's about to learn that snowboarding and surfing are two dramatically different things. He sure looks pumped about it, at least.]
This is gonna be the best idea anyone has ever had.
[No it isn't. Someone stop him.]
ii.
her patrol takes her past all of the empty temples. she's feeling the ill effects of the gods being gone less than most. Ferelden didn't exactly have electricity or showers or ovens, so she's not missing their absence. she is, however, feeling the cold. her armor wasn't made with this kind of climate in mind and she hasn't had the chance to hunt down an animal for its pelt yet.
when she gets to Delight's temple, she stops dead in her tracks, entirely confused by what she sees: an elf, the one who accused her of stealing Chance, on top of the temple with a board of some kind in his hand and what looks like a chute of ice.
she calls up to him] What are you doing up there?

[It doesn't take Peter long to jump back into his usual routine, heading out on patrol as soon as he's able. What he really wants to do is go out and explore the rest of the planet since he's been living on a friggen island the last few months, but he figures he'd better hang around the city for a while and make sure everything's in order. He wouldn't want someone to get eaten by a polar bear or something while he's gone, after all.

So, if you don't happen to spot Spidey swinging between buildings and shit above you, you might find him in a shop trying to find a coat or sticking to a building outside shivering his butt off and trying to see if he can bluetooth his damn suit to his phone and activate the heaters that way or something. The moral of this story is don't go outside in only spandex when it's only like 30 degrees out. It's fucking cold.]
NOV 23, the lake
[After a brief stop at the lab to pick up some scrap metal and tools and shit, Peter's headed out to the lake. In actual clothing this time, he's learned his lesson. There's nothing fancy here, he's set up shop next to the lake and he's trying to cook up some simple ice skates. He's in the middle of a frozen wasteland with a big frozen lake like what else is he going to do?? I mean I guess he could go fistfight a monster or punch a hole in the ice and beat up a fish or something, but he'd rather do something cool.]
I could have done this in the lab, why did I think out here would be a good idea? My fingers are frozen. I'm frozen. Why would I do this. Good idea, Parker, you really nailed it this time.
[despite his whining, he's making pretty good progress on his junk so hey]
Wildcard
[you know how wildcards work, smack me with a scenario and i'll smack you for smacking me]
Nov 23rd
she's not exactly cold, so she's taking that as a sign that she's reaching the current local temperature.
she's on her way back from the Clinic when she runs across her housemate, trying to make . . . something? can't tell what from this distance. so she closes in and says]
You could've done what in the lab?

Angus McDonald | OTA!
[ Oh boy, this is a lot colder than he'd been expecting. Angus had stepped outside to have a look at their new surroundings, instantly regretted his decision, and is now back on his exploring grind while bundled up in two sweaters and one of Taako's scarves. A small flame is cupped between his hands for warmth, and he looks more apprehensive the more he explores the city, taking in the lack of power, the empty temples, the frozen river... Are the turbo-liches gone again? Is this another trick? ]
This... this isn't... great.
The shops, later on
[ Okay, panicking won't help anything, as much as Angus kind of wants to hide under the bed and hope this is a bad dream. The best thing he can do right now, both for his nerves and for the sake of having something productive to occupy himself with, is take stock of the situation and figure out what resources the city still has. It's investigation time, which means that Angus is checking out all the shops and doing stock inventory. Unfortunately, it's hard to juggle a notebook, pencil, and a small ball of flame in his hands at the same time, so Angus hands the notebook to whoever's passing by. ]
Could you hold this for a second? Thanks.
At night
[ Angus is sitting on the front steps of Tres Horny House (although he does not call their home by that name), now wearing a blanket wrapped around his shoulders like a poncho in addition to his multiple sweaters and the ball of flames in his hands. He probably shouldn't be out this late, but... honestly, he hasn't gone far, and it's not as if it's much warmer indoors. Besides, he hasn't seen this many stars in his life, and the two moons in the night sky are so nostalgic that it almost hurts.
... Granted, one of those moons probably isn't the home base of a memory-erasing secret society, but still, it's pretty. ]
Shops heyooo
Oh yeah, sure thing.
[He'll reach down and take that notebook from Angus like a bro. An upside down spiderbro.]
