You all get some warning to prepare, which is great. A little time to stock up on supplies, make sure everything's where it supposed to be, call your friends in from their fishing boats. And then the city moves. It happens in the blink of an eye - one moment you're on islands, surrounded by ocean, and the next? The next you're surrounded by frozen ground, the temperature has dropped significantly, and even the sky looks different. The air has a bite to it, that familiar feeling telling you it's thinking about snowing soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon.
The city has rearranged itself back into that old, familiar shape, instead of spread out across islands like it was a moment ago. Maybe that'll make things easier for you, maybe it won't, but it also means the return of the lake and river that used to bisect the city - only now they're frozen over. This climate also means it'll be hard for any plants not otherwise protected to survive - and that you, too, will start feeling that cold if you're away from a warm place for too long.
And warm places might be in short supply, because when the city moved the gods did not. What does that mean for you? Well, whatever supplies are in the shops at the moment the city moves are the only ones left. No new food supplies, no new clothing, nothing. In addition, the power across the whole city is out, including water and heating. Anything else powered or supplied by gods (the hot springs, the mopeds, what's left of the orchard, the armory, the GPS) will not work.
You're on your own. Try not to die.► This log covers November 21st-30th.
► Feel free to make your own logs, as well
► Please tag headers of threads with content warnings where they apply
► Please put your character's name and open/closed in the subject line of your starters!
► If you freeze to death, starve to death, are eaten by the local animals, fall through the ice, or find some other exciting way to die, please let us know here, and be aware resurrection will not be currently happening. You stay dead - for now.
Starscream | ota
[ A pissed off Decepticon is totally what everyone needs when being transported to this place, right? Right. Because if there's one thing he really doesn't like it's the cold, it's very effective against Cybertronians and he really hates not being in control of where he goes. So have a very grumpy, very cold, Decepticon stomping around as he tries to keep warm. ]
Of all the places...this insufferable frozen wasteland was not the choice I would have decided on. [ He'll just kick up some snow with an audible grumble as he crosses his arms over his chest. He looks pretty cold thought despite his hot tempered actions. ]
Lake
[ He doesn't remember a lake ever residing within the islands so this is a new discovery for him. Still he doesn't take chances and never really sticks his neck out unless he has to. He could easily fly over it but with energon in limited supply...using up his energy doesn't seem very smart. So he'll go the next best route and ask if anyone else has traversed it yet. ]
You there! Have you gone across the lake yet? Is there anything worth going over there for? [ He sounds a bit impatient as he asks that. ]
Wildcard
[ Throw anything at me! Starscream is going to be displeased and grumpy regardless. He'll probably he scrounging around for stuff to burn or to use to fix up his own house to protect it from the elements. ]
Lake
No. And no. At least as far as I know because I haven't ice skated across the lake yet.
no subject
[ Still he is curious about what's over there. ]
Not that there will be much to find there, I'm sure.
no subject
[so is she, to be honest, but hell if she's going to admit it]
More purple grass and frost and little rodent things, probably.
no subject
[ And while he does want to scan the place for Energon he's not sure if the added effort would be worth it. ]
Flying over there would be easy but with the lack of food wasting my energy on a fruitless endeavor...is not in my best interests.
no subject
[clearly, you have not been here long enough to expect that]
Wait, you eat? How do you eat? You're a robot.
no subject
[ He huffs as he rolls his eyes. ]
What kind of question is that. I eat the same way you humans eat. [ With his mouth, gosh. ]
I am no robot. I am a Cybertronian and despite what you may think we need energon to survive.
no subject
[still so unimpressed. sorry, not sorry]
Oh. Didn't know that. Isn't it kind of inconvenient, being all made of metal like you are, but still having to eat?
no subject
Isn't it inconvenient for you humans to be so squishy and powerless despite having to eat as well? At least our energon can be used for many things unlike you humans and your strange organic foods.
[ Youcan't power huge spaceship with hamburgers or pizza can you?! ]
no subject
There are loads of humans around here with powers. If you don't notice 'em, you're just not paying attention. [she shrugs] And I've heard about a car which was converted to run using used cooking oil. If one can, others can too.
[she wouldn't be surprised if there was a world out there where you could]
no subject
Powers, yes, yes so I've seen. [ Have a flippant wave of his hand in a dismissive gesture. ]
Unless that information is going to somehow keep us from freezing I don't think there's any good use for a car or oil considering we have neither.
no subject
Really. 'Cause that's not what it sounded like. [have an unimpressed look]
Yeah, that wasn't what we were talking about, in case you forgot. We were talking about the fact that human food couldn't be used to power anything. I pointed out a time when it did. Besides, we do have cooking oil in the shops. Might as well use it for something if we can't use it for cooking.
no subject
Compared to what I've seen from Cybertronian technology the powers these humans have here isn't quite that impressive. [ He might be lying but he'll never really say he's impressed with humans anyway. ]
A time when the supplies were readily available. [ He just grumbles under his breath. ]
That's a situation for you humans to discuss among yourselves. But using it as fuel to keep warm would not be a bad idea.

around~
Will the cold damage you, friend? I voted for the jungle planet as well, but for the benefit of others.
no subject
[ Ugh this is the worst. Still he gives DiMA a curious once over before huffing and crossings his arms over his chest. ] Does it not affect you as well? It puts us into a sort of...stasis you could say.
no subject
[ ...don't expect DiMA to make clothes happen, though, look at him. ]
It will, below a certain temperature. This is not hazardous.
no subject
Do you think anyone has clothing to fit me? As if I can just go to a store and find a nice shirt to put on. [ He laughs again as he shakes his head. Wearing clothes like a human that's rich, DiMA thanks for the laugh. ]
A source of heat should suffice, if I can find anything to burn. For now it's a mild inconvenience that I can live with.
no subject
[ DiMA is, as always, good natured about it. He knows Hadriel has a seamstress but honestly, would've just wrapped Starscream up like he does for himself -- it's better he doesn't try to dress anyone. ]
I do worry about burning things for heat... we have very limited resources to do so, and no fireplaces. Perhaps a wind shelter around a communal pit would function well?
no subject
[ He does tap a claw against his chin in thought at DiMA's offer. ]
I suppose that could work. Though having to share it with the humans is...miserable at best. [ He'll get over it, eventually. ]
no subject
[ Oh, Starscream. Be nice to the humans. ]
Miserable? Are they really so different from people like us, besides being organic?
no subject
[ He sure does like to brag but his ego is the size of the planet. He just lets out a soft grumble as his wings droop a little behind him. ]
I suppose there is some...merit to what you're saying. [ Even if they are inferior as a species...they still act like some Decepticons he knows. ]
But don't tell me you actually enjoy talking to them.
no subject
[ Show off, Starscream. Do it. ]
Hmm... I will admit to being far more comfortable in the presence of synths. But the humans here seem kinder than what I'm used to. Less prejudiced against me for what I am. Are you finding that's not the case for you?
no subject
Well then I will just have to rectify that, won't I? [ He'll roll his eyes a little as he huffs. ]
That's not the case entirely. [ At all, actually people have been more than accepting of him. But he still doesn't fully trust humans. ]
I still don't trust them however. At any moment they could mistake us for those Null or whatever else and attack us. It's best to just...leave them to their own devices and keep our distance.
no subject
I've seen some images of the Null, and they are rather... distinctive. Also, their posts reveal that they do not experience emotion as we do, with the exception of the one that's somewhere in the city exposed to the gods for so long. I don't see how anyone could mistake us, feeling beings, for them. But you aren't the only one to worry about such a thing. I understand your reluctance.
no subject
It is not only that, but should something happen...I am sure that these humans would have no qualms about seeking us out as the culprits
[ And he really hates being blamed for something he didn't do. ]
