What: The log for the city's arrivel on the ice planet

You all get some warning to prepare, which is great. A little time to stock up on supplies, make sure everything's where it supposed to be, call your friends in from their fishing boats. And then the city moves. It happens in the blink of an eye - one moment you're on islands, surrounded by ocean, and the next? The next you're surrounded by frozen ground, the temperature has dropped significantly, and even the sky looks different. The air has a bite to it, that familiar feeling telling you it's thinking about snowing soon. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday soon.

The city has rearranged itself back into that old, familiar shape, instead of spread out across islands like it was a moment ago. Maybe that'll make things easier for you, maybe it won't, but it also means the return of the lake and river that used to bisect the city - only now they're frozen over. This climate also means it'll be hard for any plants not otherwise protected to survive - and that you, too, will start feeling that cold if you're away from a warm place for too long.

And warm places might be in short supply, because when the city moved the gods did not. What does that mean for you? Well, whatever supplies are in the shops at the moment the city moves are the only ones left. No new food supplies, no new clothing, nothing. In addition, the power across the whole city is out, including water and heating. Anything else powered or supplied by gods (the hot springs, the mopeds, what's left of the orchard, the armory, the GPS) will not work.

You're on your own. Try not to die.

Kittens I can pull off. Nobody can go wrong with kittens, even if they are the ugliest shirts I've ever owned.

[trying to keep a straight face]
They're not ugly, they're--[she can't help herself and busts out laughing]--okay, they're hideous. But you make it work.

What? Kittens are adorable, I'm adorable. When our powers combine, we're an unstoppable force! Grandmas can't get enough of this.

...Okay, that got weird.

[still laughing] My grandma would probably lecture you about posture. And we're here. When do things not get weird?

[the goofs are just flying today hell yes]

Psh, my posture is perfect.

[He is one thousand percent slouching, but in his defense it's because he's freezing and shivering his entire butt off.]

I do kind of wish that the weirdness would get a little bit warmer, though.

[everything's better when you can laugh at your problems. even freezing one's butt off]

Uh-huh. Sure it is.

[hers actually is, but that's because fifteen years' worth of lessons (and berating) die hard]

Oh, no kidding. The aliens told us it would be cold and I guess it could be worse, but this is a lot to get used to all at once.

[It's True!]

I was kind of expecting a ton of snow, which probably would have made getting around a lot harder.

Not for me, but yeah. I was kind of expecting a half meter of snow on the ground. Or something like Antarctica where it was glaciers everywhere. Instead, it's. . . really kind of boring?

This place was neat for the first like, day and a half, but I think I'm about ready to go back to the islands. The whole endless ocean thing was kind of boring too, but at least it was warmer.

It was warmer and we had heat, electricity, running hot water, and a stable food supply. I'm not loving these living conditions.

Right now, I think I miss hot running water the most. I would do just about anything for a hot shower right now.

Ugh. Yes. A hot shower followed by a cup of hot tomato soup, then a nice warm bed to sleep in. We didn't know how good we had it.

I can't tell if that's making me feel homesick or if I just miss being warm. Probably a little of both? Mostly the being warm thing, though.

I guess we could go to the shops and look for more blankets? Maybe we'll get lucky and not all of them have been taken yet.

I'm not really counting on it, but it's worth a shot. If nothing else, maybe we can find some, I dunno. Socks. Socks are good.

Socks! [she giggles] Sorry, now all I'm imagining is socks on your hands and your ears and one on the tip of your nose.

How do you know that's not what I'm planning? I could totally pull off some kind of sock based super hero if I tried hard enough.

I bet you could, but what would your codename be? Spider-Man sounds a lot more impressive.

I guess Sock-Man doesn't really have the same sort of ring to it, does it? I guess I'll just stick with the spider theme, it seems to be working out pretty well for me so far.

No, it really doesn't. It sounds [she wrinkles her nose] kinda dirty, somehow Definitely stick to the spider theme, people are scared of spiders so there you go! An impressive codename.

What, they'd be clean socks!

The 'spiders being scary' thing only works until people meet me in person. I don't think I could do scary even if I tried. I did try once, actually. It was just kinda dumb.

[sing-song] Never said they wouldn't.

[back to normal. and she grins at him] Okay, this I have to see. Be scary. Come on! Give me your worst.

[JUST straight up rolling his eyes. gurllll.]

You wanna-- okay. Gimme a second, I gotta get in the zone.

[He pulls his mask back on since his face isn't even remotely scary, and shakes himself out a bit in an attempt to get into "the zone". It totally doesn't work and he gives up almost immediately.]

Nope. Nope, can't do it. I don't have it in me, it's just not there.

[she's completely unrepentant]

All right. i can wait.

[she observes, on the edge of giggles all the while, but still sparing him his dignity by not laughing out loud]

It's okay. You make up for it in other ways.

[Psh, dignity. It's overrated.]

Well it's certainly not with my looks, on account of the mask. It's either my personality, or my butt.
