[ Shortly after the move, once Pell is certain the gods are no longer with them, he puts up another quick post. Text this time: ]

The Clinic has relocated but someone will be here at all times to provide medical attention to those who need it. Note the new indicator on the attached map, or call for help if you are injured and unable to get here.

Anyone who wanted lessons delayed by the involuntary memory transfers, I'll be holding first aid and healing lessons daily at noon, for approximately two hours. If you would prefer a private lesson that can also be arranged. We're still in need of volunteers for emergencies, especially as the gods appear to be missing and our burden may now be greater. Boil the water you gather if possible and stay warm. I don't think it's quite cold enough here to worry about this just yet, but if you believe someone is suffering from hypothermia: blankets and body heat are the best treatment, then warm fluids.

[ Anyone who comes into the clinic at noon will see the reception area has new, freshly stocked first aid kits set out. They aren't fancy -- no neat little plastic boxes since those would require a deal, but modest cardboard ones instead. Some shoeboxes, some just other small repurposed ones from the shops, all marked with a cross to indicate medical supplies.

They don't have much to spare right now, but the boxes have a suture kit, some bandages, a small amount of antiseptic and some handmade salves, and wraps for a splint. They're free for the taking, and if people come for lessons Pell has supplies designated for that as well, most of which will be reused because it isn't for actual patients. He doesn't expect to get a crowd, but is here perhaps with another staff member or two, just in case.

Healing lessons are always on offering as well for those magically inclined, though will likely be more personalized. Pell is either in the reception area or the office at these times, and will be listening for the door. The clinic isn't any warmer inside, but there isn't much to be done about that honestly. They'll make do. And of course if someone comes in injured, he'll be back to his normal work.

[Well well well, look who it is.

Lance hasn't been to the Clinic in... Quite awhile, honestly; since he doesn't have an office there, has managed to avoid injury, and hasn't had anyone he needs to visit or treat in an emergency, it's just ended up being quite awhile since he was around. But he's shown up to help even though he didn't end up responding to Pell's post; with the situation like it is, he thinks he should be doing his part and he's both capable in first aid and now wielding a bit of healing magic.

And, of course, his main profession, but he thinks that's probably low on the list of concerns at the moment.

He can be found wandering around, organizing stuff, getting reacquainted with where things are, and also eating a block of uncooked ramen again because that's what he does when there's a potential food shortage. Don't judge him. He can also help out if anyone's minor to moderately injured, though please don't ask him to do surgery.]

[ Pell isn't even going to object to the ramen, though he can hardly stomach the salt of those himself, but the uncooked noodles? The power being out doesn't mean much to him, he can heat water on his own. They have a stock, and he's planning to boil and filter what's drawn as a reserve from the lake. So when he glances up at the crunching and realizes what it is Lance is eating, raw? ]

Lance... I could cook that for you, you know.

[Poor Pell. Lance glances up, glancing back down at his uncooked noodle block, crunches the bite he's already taken and swallows it before responding.]

I appreciate the offer, but it's okay. It's kind of like eating a cracker.

[And really not that bad, and certainly not worth the waste of magic.]

[ He smiles a little, fond, and doesn't argue -- he wouldn't think it a waste to offer a friend some comfort. ]

I was actually expecting it to be a lot colder on this planet; this is just a lot like winter back at home, maybe a little warmer.

[ Is it weird? Pell's just grateful the man is sparing them some time and volunteering to be on call with his new skills. Lance didn't have to do that. But there are others around and he agreed to keep the magic a secret, so he just moves on to talking about the weather. What has he become? ]

So a bunch of you keep saying, but to me it's very cold. And the lakes agree with me that it's freezing.

[ He's wearing two sweaters, and his hands still feel cold. The only reason he doesn't have his cloak on too is that he knows then he'd be colder in the wind outside. ]

The desert planet was close to what I grew up in, if not for the double suns -- I worry it'll be even harder to sustain my garden here.

[she was already in the Clinic when the city moved, taking stock of what they had and what they needed. when the lights went out and she went outside to scope out the situation, she swore bloody murder and spent the better part of five minutes ranting entirely to herself about ice planets, moves that come out of fucking nowhere, and the stupid, stupid gods.

it didn't do jack shit to remedy the situation, but it made her feel better and isn't that the important thing?

oh, and there's a familiar face. one she hasn't seen in way too long. blame her poor social skills for that one. so she marches on over to him, only to see him chewing away on a block of uncooked ramen. what the actual fuck. he'd mentioned doing it to her before, but she never thought she'd see it in action]

[It was so hot and Lance is not a fan of hot, especially since he prefers to wear layers. But he does, of course, have empathy for Pell's plight.]

Growing things might be a challenge in this weather though, you're right. Especially if there's a freeze.

[Not that Lance is great with plants or anything, but he does remember his mom covering her plants whenever there was a frost.]

[ Curufin stops by just to check in, and to see how the organizing is going now that Pell is in charge. He's pleased Kate made this choice, thinks the Clinic is in good hands. ]

[a sixteen year old girl approaches tentatively wearing what is likely to be very peculiar armor with a sword and a dagger sheathed at her back. she's obviously cold and trying to conceal it as her armor has thin deerskin leggings and no sleeves]

[ Pell laughs softly, well aware that his opinion is not the norm. ]

It's what I know. And it helps that my cloak is enchanted for such a climate... actually. It seems to be working in the cold, as well, I should see if I can't figure out how it was done. To do the same to other clothing.

[ As if he needs another project right now... ]

Especially without the gods to assist at all. I did cover them and plant some warming crystals, but it's going to be difficult to maintain to say the least.

[ He's doing his best!! At this point he wouldn't quite agree with the faith others are putting in him, but he's working at it. It's been trial by fire, will be more so if they have an emergency. For now he turns and smiles at the visitor. ]

Hello, Curufin. It's good to see you -- we're managing alright, plenty of blankets and all, but I'm cold no matter what in this weather.

[ He lifts his sweater a little to show a hot water bottle tucked there, between it and his shirt. ]

Everyone keeps telling me it isn't even that cold, too.

[ The armor reminds him a little of Henry... a pang of melancholy hits at that but Pell pushes it aside, instead blinking at the girl's exposed arms and thin leggings. ]

I am... you must be freezing, come further in.

[ If she allows it, Pell is going to hustle her into the staff room for a blanket and tea. ]

[Ferelden was often chill, but not the biting cold of this particular world. she's not had the chance to hunt down an animal to make a cloak from yet]

[she comes in closer, her youth becoming even more evident as she approaches. and she would appreciate both, but she's been set to guard this place against any attackers, human or otherwise]

[ Pell's not one to judge a book by its cover, in any case. He looks young himself, and hustles the girl in. He's got water still warm from his last cup, it won't take long to will the pot back to a boil. ]

It's no trouble. Are you injured somehow, or here for a lesson?

[ Bless that old robo's heart, and this girl for coming. This news doesn't seem to deter Pell trying to warm her up, though. Tea is happening. ]

Thank you, then. Hopefully he's just being overly cautious and nothing will make it this far into the city -- and you can stand guard just as easily from the window with a blanket and tea, and rush out if needed.
