There's a rumbling sound in the air early in the afternoon on December 26th. Whether you're new in town or you've seen it all, something like this hasn't happened before. Is it an earthquake? It feels kind of like a small one, and that might be endurable if not for the sudden snarling and gnashing of teeth!

As it turns out, these yet-unnamed apex predators are overrunning the city, ignoring their previous apprehension to barrel right through anything- or anyone- that stands in their way. Seemingly spooked by something, they are aggressive and violent and won't hesitate to tear anyone they meet to pieces... after trampling them underfoot, of course. They're so large and muscular that they may even take a few portions of buildings with them- how would you like to see one of these monsters crashing through your living room?

At least it's only these weird mammoths, though... right?

[Sonya was used to working under less than stellar circumstances, even more living off them. That didn't mean she wasn't looking for anything that couldn't be supplies.

She was leaving a shop when she saw the animals coming at them-the woman only an after thought.Then she presumed to think that she would run off and hide.]

Like hell. [She adjusted her power gauntlets, once more glad they were with her when she first arrived.] Manage to bring one down, you think their meat's edible.

[Jo presumes that most people will run if they can. She probably should adjust that here, but it's habit.]

I don't know how much meat is actually on them. [There's a lot of fur hiding whatever is underneath.]

How do those things work?

There's muscle. There's meat-I'm theorizing they're like bears. [Creatures that size and having to have a lot of insulation, Sonya guessed there was a fair amount of meat.]

[She aimed her arm towards them. Too far and she was worried it wouldn't have th same effect, but too close-they were all fucked. By stunning the target.

[She aimed at the nearest one. The creature let out a roaring cry for a split second before collapsing.]

[Interesting, interesting. Jo follows it to the one she shoots at.]

But it just knocks them out?

[She doesn't let up, shooting at the ones that got too close. Her aim was such that some of the creatures ended up slipping and piling up from their own size-anything so she didn't waste power.] Long enough for you to kill him.

[Sonya figured the woman's machete would be enough to do the deed. There were so many the only way they could defend this place was by teaming up.]

[Jo can hardly argue with that. She pulls her machete, giving Sonya a nod.

When she reaches the nearest creature, she takes a moment to consider the fastest way to dispatch them. It isn't something she ponders long.

There's enough of a point for her to just plunge her machete into an eye and twist.]

I'm starting to hate this planet.

I've been hating it. [She checks the power supply on her gauntlets. With them running on solar power, and the days shorter than they used to be, charging them to full power would take longer than normal.

She shot several more, creating a sort of barrier for others to stumble and trip on. Once they were down, she joined the other woman in dispatching them.] I still say we see what we can use from these.

[With their supplies being rationed as they were, anything to supplement them had to be considered.] Their furs doesn't look to bad either, if it could be properly combed and cleaned up.

[Jo looks at the blood on her machete and shrugs.]

I don't know anything about tanning. Do you?
