There's a rumbling sound in the air early in the afternoon on December 26th. Whether you're new in town or you've seen it all, something like this hasn't happened before. Is it an earthquake? It feels kind of like a small one, and that might be endurable if not for the sudden snarling and gnashing of teeth!
As it turns out, these yet-unnamed apex predators are overrunning the city, ignoring their previous apprehension to barrel right through anything- or anyone- that stands in their way. Seemingly spooked by something, they are aggressive and violent and won't hesitate to tear anyone they meet to pieces... after trampling them underfoot, of course. They're so large and muscular that they may even take a few portions of buildings with them- how would you like to see one of these monsters crashing through your living room?
At least it's only these weird mammoths, though... right?► This log covers December 26th-December 28th.

As long as we can redirect them from the city, we may not need to kill them. [ It could end up going very badly, if the predators overtake them. ] But we'll do what we can in the meantime.
[ What she can do is to slash at their legs, weaving between in order to avoid being squashed, while Pup bites and teas around the slashes she creates. ]
I have to admit, I do miss the days I could blast one of these things away with the anchor. [ It'd hurt, of course, but it'd been effective! ]

Something useful. But Cecily is correct. Dwelling on that is pointless. They don't have the time. )
Don't seem interested in detourin'. ( It's a good idea, but considering the fact that they seem more than capable of knocking down a building given enough leeway, she's not sure how they could really manage that. In lieu of any such abilities, Kate settles for following Cecily and Pup's movements, striking any predators with her knives when there's an opening, or switching to arrows when ones get too close to her current ally for comfort.
There'll be time to discuss anchors and blasting things away later, for now, this chaos needs to end. )

[ One predator is one thing, but more means a very big risk. They might die and let the beasts pass them to ravage the city. ]
Got anything with a bit more power? [ She asks over her shoulder, allowing herself a few seconds of breath as one of the mammoths crashes forward, its front legs too bloodied to stand straight. ] Or any very wonderful ideas?

Not a lot to go off here. )
Think we can get to a watchtower?
( She takes another look at the city around them. There's one in the background of the skyline, close enough to retreat to. Height and, if they're lucky, another body or two. )

[ She says, before dashing off. Whatever Kate has planned - if it's anything beyond giving them a little height on the beasts - she'll wait and find out what it is. ]
Go off and find someone. [ The Inquisitor commands of the dog, who barks and runs off in his own direction. They're down a fighter now, but it'll hopefully pay off before long... ]
